I'm Kourtney with Wynn beta and this is the second video in a series on Microsoft's Android apps Microsoft has been releasing Android apps for several years at this point offering increased polish and utility with every update together they offer a really compelling proposition go all-in with Microsoft services and still keep your choice of platform today we're looking at part of microsoft's revamped office apps for android office comes in two flavors for android one for devices running 4.3 and below and a suite of apps for 4.4 nah the office mobile application has support for viewing and light editing of Word PowerPoint and Excel files and when I say light editing I mean that you can't change much more than the basic formatting text and some basic formulas in Excel you can create new Word and make cell files from the app with support for a few basic templates for both files can only be saved to a linked onedrive or Dropbox account as well so you can open files from anywhere the app is completely free making it a pretty easy recommendation for anyone that uses onedrive or Dropbox to store their documents as long as you keep its limitations in mind particularly the fact that it's much better suited to minor editing than full-blown document creation there's a lot to like about it with that being said Microsoft's newer word excel in PowerPoint applications are where office really shines on the platform you'll need a moderately recent device to run them but it's worth it these apps are the office suite reimagined for mobile with the app scaling well to take advantage of either the limited screen of a phone or the more spacious screen of a tablet there's a good mix of classic office design language and androids material design to keep things cohesive between mobile and desktop Microsoft is still the essence of each application into something manageable on mobile while keeping the majority of the functionality found in their desktop counterparts on a phone most of the editing options are condensed into a picker that slides up from the bottom allowing you to scroll through options you'd find in the ribbon on a desktop on a tablet the full ribbon is out on display and looks very similar to any of the apps running on full blown windows or OS 10 printing and sharing support are accounted for integrating well with native Android ap is to power them both as far as working with documents the apps have built-in support for onedrive and Dropbox but can also tie in with Android storage access framework to support any service that supports the feature the new html5 based add-ins are sadly nowhere to be found for now though Microsoft has made it clear that it plans to bring them to Android eventually Microsoft even has some helper apps office remote and office lens to bring even more power in cohesiveness to the apps across...
