much-needed home improvement projects by replacing cesspools upgrading and repairing septic systems or connecting to public sewers these improvements protect and improve the environment while increasing home values across all of our programs we are seeking to increase flexibility to better meet the needs of our customers Rhode Island infrastructure bank is putting its resources to work in hi I'm governor Gina Raimondo and here we know that a strong resilient infrastructure is hugely important to creating an environment what families and businesses can thrive that's why we created the Rhode Island infrastructure bank over the last two years the infrastructure bank has invested over 265 million dollars into Rhode Island's economy and help to support almost 7,000 jobs that money finance projects that improve our wastewater and drinking water systems maintain our roads and bridges and promote energy efficiency as well as the development of renewable energy resources through the infrastructure banks new energy programs municipalities and taxpayers will save almost 30 million dollars over the next 10 years in addition the infrastructure banks efficient buildings fund has already reduced municipal energy consumption on an annual basis equal to that of 832 homes and reduced annual greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of 19 million passenger car miles in the coming general treasurer of the state of Rhode Island over the last 18 months the Rhode Island infrastructure banks efficient buildings fund has provided over seventeen million dollars in financing for municipal energy efficiency and alternative energy projects across the ocean State the financing provided by the infrastructure Bank is jump-starting local energy saving projects and is providing new opportunities for cities and towns to save money on their energy costs so that they have more money to spend on education infrastructure and tax relief for their residents for example the bank just financed a new HVAC system at the Edgewood Highland school in Cranston replacing the elementary schools nearly 50-year old system the new system is more energy efficient reducing energy bills for the school while also improving the educational environment for students the infrastructure bank also funded a series of upgrades to the Newport wastewater treatment facility which will increase the facility's capacity and mitigate sewer overflows to the Narragansett Bay the facility is also installing solar panels making it the first wastewater treatment plant in Rhode Island to be powered by solar energy these are just two examples of infrastructure projects which are putting trades men and women back to work while helping Rhode Islanders save on their energy costs all while reducing our state's carbon footprint another new program offered by the infrastructure bank is the innovative C pace program which is designed to help commercial property owners with lowering their cost of energy the program is designed to increase access to attractive private sector capital for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects interest in the C pace program has already exceeded initial expectations and we expect to close the first deal in the coming months with the new programs developed by the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank we are giving our city in towns our businesses and our citizens even more opportunities to save money on energy costs and helping to keep our state's economic recovery on track [Music] I'm Janet Coit the director of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management de m ever since the beginning of the Clean Water revolving fund in the late 1980s diem has worked really closely with the Rhode Island infrastructure bank it's director of diem I'm really proud of our partnership with the Rhode Island infrastructure bank it's more than just financing large wastewater treatment projects although it is that but it's also working really closely with communities the partnership between diem and the Rhode Island infrastructure bank has not just allowed communities to comply with the Clean Water Act but it's really made for a greener and more pleasant Rhode Island we not only improving their wastewater treatment options and tying in communities and households to modern sewers but really we have cleaner waters that people can enjoy and more beautiful communities this partnership is far from over there's more work to do but because of it we have a cleaner and greener Rhode Island [Music] hi my name is dr.
