it is a pleasure to be talking with each and every one of you i wish i was sitting in your classroom today so we could have a conversation about careers and give you what it looks like for you and your future but as we all know this is our new norm so i've created this video well introduction my name is ashley gagnon my favorite color is purple i live in standish maine i play the violin and a really fun fact i have jumped out of an airplane before i attended university of phoenix and received certifications in business analytics general business management and small business management i received certification in sales management sales management training from hoothwaite international and i do hold my nmls license and i'm a nota republic for the state of maine over the course of the next few minutes i will talk about my career my workplace my amazing stuff and i will be throwing out some very odd words and phrases so listen carefully and jot them down and at the end of the video i will disclose these funny words or phrases and let's see how many of them you can pick up on i started my career in sales as an advertising sales rep for a local newspaper this was such an amazing job i was able to meet wonderful business owners and marketing professionals i was out on the road a lot i even one time sold advertising to dirks bentley rainbow unicorns and miranda lambert on tour and i got to even meet them backstage but if we don't all know anything about newspapers sadly it is a somewhat of a dying profession so i did have to move on from that and let me ask you this question why do you think newspapers might be one of those professions that is dying currently yeah you probably said it social media and the internet really allowed for digital marketing during my career i was able to network what does networking mean well basically it's where older folks get together kind of like an ice cream social where business people get to meet and they talk amongst one another while networking i did meet a group of wonderful bankers who introduced me to a world of banking i started off as a teller and quickly advanced into a customer service manager group i was a sheep herder then i became a branch manager a fun fact in the earlier days of my banking career i was part of a wealth management department and i was able to do junior trading what does junior trading mean well i was able to assist with the trade and purchase of stocks for large companies like apple best buy facebook sounds pretty cool huh i work with northeast bank now as a senior banking center manager and we'll say that three times fast no i'm kidding this is really a long title but essentially what i do i oversee the day-to-day sales and operations of the branch my team is made up of personal bankers senior relationship bankers and what do these titles even mean well they're the front line staff the tellers they interact with our customers minutes a minute and assist with transactions like deposits and then we have my desktop and this is where you could go to open a new account or possibly you might need a little extra assistance with something being a senior banking center manager at northeast bank i start the day with assisting my team members to open the ball feed the elephants and provide solutions to our customers each day i'm responsible for assisting customers and finding their needs and one of their needs could be maybe even earning interest on an interest-bearing account what does an interest bearing account mean well this means bank will pay you money or interest each month to keep your money with us we're the bank well wait a minute did i just say a bank's gonna pay you money i sure did sounds cool right so some of our products are the checking accounts the cds money market savings account as loan products so i am very proud to work with northeast bank we have nine locations from portland to augusta we have locations in central and western maine they encourage me to volunteer for programs i'm very passionate about like youth homelessness i'm a board member for new beginnings in lewiston i volunteer for places like seniors plus i advocate for energy efficiencies like solar power in this great state of maine and of course junior achievement so let's stop a moment and let's take a look at branch life [Music] 100 150 2 20 40 60 attention to detail you enjoy working with the community and have some excellent communication skills you could be a really great fit in retail banking let's take a moment round up all the weird words
