Advanced Search template now I click the search icon and then go to advanced here I have a lot of options I can search by author name I can search by code section I can indicate I want certain words or phrases in the headline or title the article and there's another useful field here on the advance shirts they'll show you in just a second if I put my keywords in this box then it'll search for one utterance of that word or phrase anywhere in the document now if I want to find a document that's truly on my topic it might be better for me to put the word or phrase here in the summary abstract field here I'm telling the search to read only the summary or the abstract of the document so my results will be more on point for me so now you've seen the results of my border adjustment search and just notice that I'm receiving primary source documents as well as news stories I can save this search and make it into an alert just by clicking this box but before I do that I might want to consider whether I want to narrow the types of documents I'm seeing and make this a tighter search so I'm going to come over here and use this filter for document types so they see only certain types of documents now this is a better search for my purposes so I'm going to go ahead and save this and make it into an alert now when I check my saved searches you'll see the two that I've added and they'll also appear in my email subscriptions is my new alerts now let's look at these click through search menus jurisdictions will let me narrow my material to a US state another country or even the OECD if I'm following for example the BAPS initiative contributors lets me focus on a particular writer with tax analysts many people are aware of Lee Shepard she's been writing for us for over 30 years and she specializes in writing on the taxation of multinational corporations and financial instruments and products so if this is a subject area that's of interest to me I might want to simply create an alert to capture lee's writing and I can have that sent to me weekly that would be Monday mornings tax topics is a nice sort of outline of the tax law if I don't see my topic right away I can put my cursor in the box and begin typing until I see it and this is a nice quick way to run a search again before I see if this search I might want to consider if I want to narrow the types of documents I see before I click that Save Search button to create my alert now I want to show you one reason why this this tax topics menu might be useful to you so let me go ahead and select this keyword and let's take a look at one of our news stories so here's an example of a tax analyst news story Emily is one of our legal reporters she has her JD and her in tax she turned in this story and after she did that the editor who reviewed the story affiliated it with these Code sections and with these topics so this is useful to me because I can find similar stories using these topics in the tax topic search and it's also helping me because I don't have to ask myself what keywords to search for I don't have to worry about finding synonyms for my keywords if I can just lean on the editorial work that's going on behind the scenes and find a good tax topic that's on point for me then I'll find the stories that have all been aligned with that tax topic there's one last way of searching which is
