How do I use a one-time password for my Google account?
[Disclaimer: I work for 1Password, a password manager that is also an authenticator app for storing one-time passwords.]Set up 2-Step Verification for your Google accountGo to the 2-Step Verification page. You might have to sign in to your Google Account.Select Get started.Follow the step-by-step setup process.Use an authenticator app like 1PasswordIf you set up 2-Step Verification using SMS text message or Voice call and also want to be able to generate codes using your mobile device, you can use an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or 1Password to receive codes even if you don’t have an Internet connection or mobile service.Learn how to use 1Password as an authenticator for sites with two-factor authentication.Sign in with 2-Step VerificationGo to the sign-in page and enter your username and password like you normally do.Then you’ll be asked for a second verification step, like a six-digit code or a prompt, which you'll receive from Google on your phone. If you want, when you enter your code, you can choose to trust your computer – this means you won't be asked for a second verification step again when you sign in from this computer. If you sign in from another computer, however, you’ll be asked for a second verification step.If you're trying to use a less secure app or device with your Google Account, you may be asked to sign in using an app password. You'll only have to do this once for each device and application.Sources: Turn on 2-Step Verification, Install Google Authenticator, How you sign in with 2-Step Verification

Why do I have an account on Quora if I never signed up?
I’ve noticed that a lot of people have asked this question in various ways and, through research and experience, I’ve found out why.Quora API can find your profile details from your existing accounts like Google, Facebook and/or other places and automatically make you an account on Quora without you ever consenting to it or realizing it.When you finally ‘join’ Quora officially, you log in to an account that was probably made ages before you even actually joined. It is likely that you searched up something on a search engine that associated to Quora somehow and you logged in with one of your social media accounts, generally speaking, Facebook. Many of Quora’s website traffic is from people searching things on the internet and to find answers, looked in Quora. To disconnect social media accounts that have connected, you can go to Your profile picture > Settings from the drop down menu > Account from the side menu > and scroll down to see Connected Accounts. Disconnect all or some as desired and done! Those accounts now have no connection to Quora whatsoever. You can also completely delete your Quora account : Your profile picture > Settings > Privacy > Delete Account.

What are some uncommon ways to work smarter instead of harder?
There is popular story on working smarter which goes something like this.A soap manufacturing company received many complaints from their retailers mentioning that some of the purchased soaps were empty. There was packaging but there was no soap inside them. Since these soaps were manufactured in lots, the issue was critical as the retailers were paying for empty boxes. This issue is harder to resolve as the whole process is automated by big machinery. The management assembled their technical team and asked to get them a best way to suggest how would they resolve the issue. Many engineers proposed different solutions. They chose the top two:To place a weighing system such that when a box drops on this machine, it will alert an individual when the weight is less than what is anticipated. An X-ray kind of mechanism which we see in an airport security. An individual can scan through these boxes and see if there are any empty boxes. Both these solutions were somehow impractical. It was not suggestive to pass each soap box through a weighing machine as it slows down the manufacturing process since each soap box has to pass through. The second solution requires constant monitoring from a representative which is not recommended. The managers now placed a hefty prize money and asked the people who were working down in the line to suggest something for the issue. One maintenance laborer went to the manager and asked some money in advance for the solution. The maintenance guy said he will return back the money if he didn’t found the solution, but if he did, the manager will require to give him two times the prize money since he is also providing the mechanism for resolving the issue. The manager agreed and provided him some money. As the days progressed, the company heard fewer complaints about the empty soap boxes. Until one day, there were no complaints from them at all. The manager remembered the guy who mentioned he will find a solution. He thought may be it was his work. He met the guy and asked whether his solution worked. He said, absolutely, and asked whether he is receiving any complaints now. The manager responded, no they aren’t. The maintenance guy mentioned he will give him the mechanism once he provides him the agreed prize money. The manager had a discussion with higher officials and gave him his prize money. The whole management was curious on what the mechanism was, whether he used sensors or some machines. The maintenance guy requested only one person to accompany with him. His manager went along. They both stopped at a place where the belt with the soap boxes goes into other machinery where it packs them into boxes. The manager didn’t see anything unusual there. The maintenance guy casually bent down and turned on a switch. A fan, which was right besides the manager, started blowing some air. When it was on full speed, it just blowed away the empty boxes which he placed them for demonstration. He turned off the fan, unplugged it and handed it to the manager while slowly walking away. The moral of this story is pretty simple. If you understand the problem at a very fundamental level, it just requires a lazy ass to resolve it. Also, common sense is the best starting step to find a resolution to a problem. We see this lacking in some people causing them to do great hardship when it can be done with simple common sense.Edit: As suggested by other Quorans, this story is fictional and is not true. I read it many years ago in some news feed. I couldn’t find the original source and I intend no claims on ownership to this story. I just remembered this story and found it very apt to the question posted. If it is already posted on Quora or if you have already read it, please down vote the answer. If you have a source for this story, please leave a comment and I will update it. Thank you.

How do I get an internship at Google?
Oh, there are a ton of ways. 1. Apply online and have a better resume than the supposedly 2,000,000 people who also applied. ( Cracking Into Google: 15 Reasons Why More Than 2 Million People Apply Each Year [ http://www.forbes.com/sites/stanphelps/2014/08/05/cracking-into-google-the-15-reasons-why-over-2-million-people-apply-each-year/ ] ) ( edit: that 2M figure is most likely all job applications not just internships ) 2. Go to a school that Google recruits from ( your best bet is Stanford, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, ULA, MIT The Schools Where Apple, Google, and Facebook Get Their Recruits [ http://www.wired.com/2014/05/alumni-network-2/ ] ) 3. Go work at a company that Google hires a lot from. ( Google really likes Microsoft employees Charted: Where Google, Facebook, and Tesla like to poach from [ http://qz.com/342229/where-tech-companies-hire-from/ ]) 4. If your school has a Google Student Ambassador (GSA), apply for the program, get in, meet a recruiter, and ask for an interview. ( Google for Education: Student Ambassador Program [ https://www.google.com/edu/resources/programs/student-ambassador-program/ ] ) 5. Go to hackathons Google attends, and impress the googler on site enough to get a recommendation. ( Page on hackalist.org [ https://www.hackalist.org/ ] ) 6. Get an internal recommendation. ( A good trick here is to use Facebook graph search and query for "friends and friends of friends that work at Google". For the love of all things holy, please don't be a pest and just ask random people you don't know for recommendations ) 7. Have an awesome linkedin that gets you noticed. ( How to get noticed by recruiters on LinkedIn - Blog - Wysdom Consulting [ http://www.wysdomconsulting.com/blog/blog/how-to-get-noticed-by-recruiters-on-linkedin ] ) 8. Have a friend that gets contacted by a google recruiter and ask them to recommend you when the recruiter asks if they know anyone that would be a good fit to interview with Google. BONUS : This one is my personal favorite. 9. Realize you go to a school that Google doesn't recruit from, go to hackathons at other schools to try to meet a recruiter, realize your resume isn't good enough to grab their attention, build up your resume, realize you still can't get through the online filter, try to apply to be a GSA so you can meet a recruiter, find out you need a recommendation from a previous GSA, realize your school has never had a previous GSA, fly to pennsylvania to meet a GSA from another school ( shout out to Eden Shapiro [ https://www.quora.com/profile/Eden-Shapiro ]), convince them to recommend you, get recommended and finally apply, become a GSA, fly out to the Googleplex for training, meet a recruiter, tell the recruiter you have a upcoming offer deadline at their favorite competitor, ask for an interview, have an interview two days later, get internship. It's as easy as that!

Do I have to use my real name on Quora? What is Quora's ‘real names’ policy?
On Quora, you are required to use your real, full name for your account. To do so, you can change your name [ https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-change-my-user-account-name-on-Quora ] from your profile. If you are ever uncomfortable about associating your identity with a particular question or answer, you can write the answer [1] or ask the question [2] anonymously. If Quora Moderation believes that a user is not using their real name, the user may be asked to provide supporting evidence. More specifically, the following rules apply to Quora profile names: * Company or organizational accounts: you may create an account on Quora to represent a legally incorporated business or other organization. You are not required to do so, if you prefer to answer using a personal account. Not all organization accounts will be verified, though we may ask company accounts to provide verification. * Names in non-Latin alphabet languages: Quora is currently only available in certain languages. In English, characters and letters that are not part of the Latin alphabet [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Latin_alphabet ] are allowed in user names in parentheses, if a Latin alphabet-name precedes the parenthetical. Example: Mikhail Gorbachev (Михаи́л Серге́евич Горбачёв), Hu Jintao (胡锦涛). * Titles, such as "Dr." and "Ms.", may not be used in a Quora name; instead, information about degrees (e.g., "M.D.", or "PhD.") may be included in the user headline that appears to the right of your name, or elsewhere in your profile. * Role accounts: Since each account should be connected with a real name, multiple accounts representing the same person (e.g., a professional identity under one name and a personal identity under a different one) are not permitted. * Capitalization: Names should be appropriately capitalized. JOHN SMITH should be capitalized as John Smith. 1. Quora's answer to How do I write an anonymous answer on Quora?
