Sunil Khanna has some good advice below - but to amplifyIf you’re using CRM to track sales (the same applies to customer service or marketing)You start at the user level -Determine the current workflow - how they’re getting the job doneDesign the CRM processes to improve that workflow - make it easier for the usersClear everything unneeded out of the screens, layouts, listsDefine as many dropdown lists and easy to select entriesIncentivize training and adoption - pizza parties for the training session, $50 gift cards for completing training exams, $100 gift cards for best performance, $500 gift card for top performerRevisit - make CRM the path of least resistance for the usersReporting - pull reports only from CRM - stop making salespeople fill out a spreadsheet to do account reviews - teach the Sales Manager to pull that data out of what’s already being input - this does two things, 1) less work for salespeople getting ready for the weekly meeting and 2) once the salesfolk start seeing evaluations based on what’s in CRM - it’s a huge, huge incentive to make sure everything is up to date.These things seem very simple - but for most of our CRM consulting engagements, it’s a list of steps they’ve skipped in the past and now they’re calling us in to help select a new CRM system that works - when usually the one they’re using is fine, it’s just never been deployed properly.From there it’s on to optimization and with the correct data in the system we can now get into the ROI, sales maximization, productivity and efficiencies - but skip those first, simple steps and you’ll never get the high level results until you’ve created the front line downhill adoption plan.
