and all we should have a separate power system we should have a separate cooling we should have a separate Network to manage all these 100 servers 100 machines machine server both are same guys don't get confused here machine server these are all different different words we'll use it in a different scenarios but both are same okay so if I want to if you go to any engineering College lab you can see guys if you go to any engineering College lab computers lab and all you can see around 20 30 computers will be there in a room so it will be like having cooling system and all only for that room and principal room will have cooling system in the colleges right there you can see the whole row of the computers so that is the challenge with the physical machines you need a complete separate room cooling system power and all Network and all so you have to maintain all these things okay fine and as I said we are managing 7,000 servers guys for 100 servers itself if we need a separate room for 7,000 servers can you imagine I should have a big building itself that is called Data Center what is that guys data center data center is nothing but collection of servers is called Data Center guys it can be 10 servers it can be 20 servers it can be 100 servers it can be thousand servers it can be 10,000 servers also collection of servers we'll keep it in one location like one building or one room okay so that is called a data center guys so the challenge with the physical machine is for example your machine is there yes STi for example we are not going to maintain all the 7,000 servers in a single location guys why if we keep all the 7,000 servers in a single location what will happen guys tell me what is the challenge with that if you are keeping all your money yes if you're keeping all your money in a single asset what is the challenge with that guys tell me there is no guant correct if something goes wrong then we can't even recover it guys so if you keep all the servers 7,000 servers or thousand servers or 100 servers at one location what is the problem guys if something happened like disasters if any fire accidents if any tsunamis if any Cyclones if any floods are there if any earthquakes are there or if any hardware failures are there if any OS failures are there it will be difficult to recover will be difficult especially during the disasters it will be difficult to recover for example if I kept all my servers in Bangalore if floods are there very regularly very commonly okay floods and all like they will hit the cities generally so if huge floods are there then I'm going to lose all my data right so that is not at all a good Dr solution Disaster Recovery Solution so what we are going to plan guys generally in the organization we'll keep few servers in Bangalore City we'll keep few of them in Mumbai we'll keep few of them in outside the country like Dubai or Singapore or Australia or us or UK so like that they are going to plan it if something disasterous happened at least the other servers in another location will save us will save the data so for all this purpose we are going to maintain servers in different different locations guys if it is a physical machine imagine in the US data center one physical server is there something happened to that physical server guys how you are going to troubleshoot it how you will troubleshoot it guys something happened to the server that is there in the US data center maybe in New New York data center we have one server something happened to that machine it's not turning on how you are going to troubleshoot again one engineer has to go to that location he has to look into it what is the problem where is the problem he has to fix it means physically he has to go and he has to troubleshoot if one server is having issue in the Australian data center again the same issue so that is the challenging task with the physical machines guys that is the challenging task with the physical machines and all so something went wrong again some Engineers has to go to the location and they have to troubleshoot it and for to maintain that many servers you need a very big building you need a very big cooling system you need separate cooling system separate Network separate power standby power also suddenly if the power is gone to manage 7,000 servers you need a separate power system also so all these things keeping all these things like these are all kind of challenges to maintain the physical machines guys so initially when when when Microsoft or any other systems invented initially like IBM and all so initially of course we don't have any virtualization concept so initially we used to use physical machines only so if you go to any company and all they use it to maintain big big buildings as a server uh like what is that data centers and all they use it to maintain a separate building for data data centers now if you go to any office organization you don't see a separate building to maintain the servers small room is enough Guys small room is enough they can manage terabytes of storage they can manage hundreds of servers they can manage um terabytes of RAM storage everything they can manage so why what happened guys after physical machines okay the whole industry was done into like virtual machines guys so the virtual machines are introduced okay like late 20 2005 2000 kind of thing 2003 onwards like it was started okay getting occupied that whole industry and all so earlier we used to use physical machines but later once virtual machines introduced what is virtual machine guys virtual machine means we can see we can feel but we cannot touch okay what is the virtual machine guys we can see we can feel but we cannot touch guys so your phone is a physical machine or virtual machine guys your phone is a physical or you can feel you can see you can touch it physic right Siri is physical or virtual can you touch Siri no it's virtual it's virtual virtualization will work physical machines and all you know but how virtualization will work guys so imagine this is the organization imagine this is the organization in the organization for every machine we need three basic components guys what are those three basic components for every machine what are the three basic components we need guys just now we discussed same CPU Ram hard disk it right you can insert one slot but whereas how virtualization will work guys there are some softwares okay so those are called virtualization softwares what this virtualization softwares will do guys this virtualization softwares will help you okay to share the resources to the respective machines guys so now if I want to create any virtual machine okay Windows Server I want to create a Windows Server customer is asking me to create a Windows server with 16 core CPU um 250 GB hard disk and 32 GB memory guys customer is asking us asking us means is asking the windows team so what Windows team will do guys they are already having a pool of resources these are all called resources guys they have a CPU pool they have a storage pool they have a memory pool they will keep adding guys they will keep adding and all to the resources now if customer is asking us for example these are like 64 core imagine these These are 64 core or 128 core out of this 128 core CPU they will allocate two resources virtually to this machine using how using this using this virtualization software guys using this virtualization software so this virtualization software how it will work guys this virtualization software will help to allocate the resources from the existing pool it will help to allocate the resources from the existing pool guys so from here it is going to take from particular CPU pool it will take and it is going to allocate out of 128 core it will allocate two 32 core CPU to this virtual machine guys okay and then memory out of maybe this is 128 GB memory okay they have reserved memory 128 GB memory so customer is asking for 64 GB right and again they will take this 64 GB of memory okay and that memory they will allocate directly allocate to this particular machine again who will do that again using this virtualization software they are going to allocate memory and they are going to even allocate the storage also so using this who is going to allocate all these things guys your virtualization software will allocate all these things okay your virtualization software is responsible to allocate the resources guys so the virtualization software using the existing physical resources it is going to allocate the resources to the new virtual machine so this machine will have as discussed okay it will allocate let me try properly okay so two CPU course it will allocate here you can see it will be deducted guys okay okay and maybe 256 GB storage right it will be allocated here and uh 16 uh 32 GB right so it is going to allocate these resources to the particular machine now with all these machines with all these resources okay what Windows team will do windows team is going to create a virtual machine guys see here virtually they will allocate using the physical resources once you added your physical resources to the pool that will be visible in the virtualization software those resources virtually they will allocate and they will give it to the particular virtual machine now we have only these many resources guys if it is 128 core we allocated 64 core right we have only 64 core CPU now if we have one TB or 2 TB storage out of 2 TB I just allocated 256 GB so 1.7 TB storage is remaining here if you have 128 GB 64 GB memory I have allocated to this machine so remaining pending is 64 GB next time when they are creating one more machine they are going to allocate the other resources if the resources are finished completed allocated to all the machines then they will keep adding the resources to this resources to this particular pool guys are you getting the point everyone so the advantage with the virtual machines so no need to set up the whole building and all if that's why the whole even though you are managing hundreds and thousands of servers you will have racks guys racks in the sense like this it will be racks okay storage rack okay let me show you like this okay so it will be like this guys so the server rooms look like this okay this is how the server rooms earlier guys nowadays maybe in the Microsoft Azure AWS and all will maintain like this but generally in the organization you'll have a single kind of a what I can say a wardrobe kind of thing same like wardrobe kind of thing guys see here each and every machine physically you can see in this there is a slot kind of thing see here one slot kind of thing this will have memory CPU and storage also so when you added once this rack is finished as discussed here if all the resources are finished they are going to add one more rack with the reserved resources and they are going to assign those resources to other virtual machines guys so earlier before the racks we used to maintain the server rooms like every machine physically we used to maintain now no need to maintain the machines physically just virtual machines so anywhere from anywhere you can start the virtual machine from anywhere we can stop the virtual machine okay from anywhere you can troubleshoot it in case if any issues are there Hardware related issue anyhow in the data center people will be there they are going to troubleshoot it and they are going to fix the particular issue and all once the hardware issues are fixed then it will be visible again in the virtual machine platform so using those resources who is going to create guys this is just for understanding purpose how the basic layer will be in the organization we are not going to do any of these tasks in the organization you are not allowed to do these things also even though you are interested still they don't allow you to do this we are DBS we are going to take care of the database Administration even though you know Windows Administration maybe if it is a startup company kind of thing they might ask your help if it's a big company or normal company every team separate team will be there you will not even have permissions also to do windows related tasks guys okay you are limited to do your activities only clear guys the advantage of the virtual machine is no need to maintain the separate buildings and all you can manage the whole infrastructure in a room okay and if something went wrong you can virtually troubleshoot it you can just take care of the servers virtually we don't need a separate whole building cooling system and all just if you can maintain the cooling system for a room it is enough networking is also same power is also same so you are going to save lot of money guys lot of money so hardly in every organization 95% virtual machines will be there 5 percentage physical machines will be there clear everyone 95% virtual machines and 5% physical machines will be there guys in the organizations So This Is How They are going to be managed so using the virtualization technique you are going to allocate the resources to the virtual machines so the virtual machines whatever virtual machines we are creating once we created that virtual machine what will happen guys so we are going to give this now the server is created with all these resources then I can SQL server on this guys what I can do I can SQL server on this okay I can happily why because the server is ready machine is ready now I can once it's ready I can the SQL Server so SQL Server will be up and running from this machine guys now if something happened to that famous one is VMware most of the organizations will use VMware as a virtual means the software I told you that using this software they are going to allocate the resources so this software can be a VMware this software can be a v virtual machine virtual box and this software can be a h hper V guys but whatever they are using okay whatever they are using at the end of the day server is available or not that is our main priority whether they are using VMware here whether they are using virtual box here whether they are using hyperv here okay there is no concern about it nothing to worry about it so you are not going to work on VMware virtual box hyperv and all whatever it is final product is the server so if the ser is available the users okay users like you okay will be connected to the server and he is going to take control of the server and he is going to the SQL servers guys on this virtual machine so whatever software that you are using as a virtual machine software so that is none of our business okay whether the server is available or not if the server is available we'll directly connect to the server we'll the SQL server on this particular virtual machine guys clear so now Faruk you ask right so in case we are giving we are allocating the resources okay from one physical machine if that physical machine is down okay how you are going to how we are going to manage so that's why we have a high availability okay there are some chances there can be Hardware failures there can be a network failures there are different different challenges are there so there is no guarantee to the man or machine okay so in case if something happened to the track High availability will be there between the racks so if that rack is down okay or if that particular data center will be down is down another data center another rack from another data center will be available to make sure the resources are continuously okay allocating to that particular virtual machines guys okay if you don't set up high availability then it will be difficult you should set up high availability for that with a single if you are using a laptop guys see I also created virtual machines here so using the virtual Oracle I'm I'm going to use Oracle virtual box guys throughout the practice so shanuk why arual box I am good in VMware I'm good in hyperv people will ask like that there are several reasons also one thing is whatever the virtual machine software we are not going to work on this so whether at the end of the day we are able to create the servers or not you can create the servers using VMware or actual box or hyperv anything you can use why virtual box specifically means virtual box will run with the least Resources with 512 GB 512 MB RAM also you can start a server whereas in the VMware very difficult you cannot start the virtual machine with 512 MB RAM okay but whereas in the vir in the arle virtual box you can even start you can create a machine you can start a machine with 512 MB RAM also so lightweight process when compared to VMware I feel arle virtual box is a kind of lightweight process and if you give good enough good amount of ram so it will work like nicely it will work whereas VMware needs lot of resources like in terms of CPU memory and all so that's why we are going to use arle Virtual box guys but again whatever it is the end product is whether we are able to access the servers or not whether we are able to access the whether we are able to create the servers or not so in between they can use any software so that is not our work that will be taken care by the windows Team guys Windows admins clear guys about the virtualization now yeah yeah yes any questions doubts yes yes please uh kindly explain the difference between Oracle vers ual box and Hyper Vis not required not required for I told you right that is not our business okay sir okay okay yeah so this is how it will yes yes please Madu one more box can many windows only one until you decommission this machine you cannot utilize these resources so you can utilize only pending resources so it depends we cannot say how many virtual machines we can create it depends how much you're allocating how much CP you're allocating whether you're allocating one rupee you're ating 2 rupees you're allocating 5 rupes whether you're allocating whole 10 Rupees so depends upon the allocation only you can tell so there is no correct answer that depends on the resources some servers will be 16 GB some servers will be 32 GB some needs 64 GB some needs 128 GB so like that depends on the resources you can tell so there is no correct answer for that how many virtual machines we can create in the sense if again the same for 10 Rupees okay how many shares you can means depends upon the share it is one Rupee or 2 rupees or whole 10 rupees or 5 rupees or 3 rupees or 4 rupees depends upon the share only so this is how so there is no particular fixed number as it is like a the resources are like varying between machine to machine there is no fixed number but that means okay based cor Bas requirement correct yes uh it is same apply for Windows servers also yes yes Windows of course of course yes it will be applied the same as like how virtual machines are there the same like SQL servers also that will be discussed later okay yeah see guys so I'm having 16 GB ram my machine is having 16 GB Ram see how many machines I have created this is one Machine 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 machine mach are there here how I running 10 machines guys so if I give 2 to GB also 10 into 2 at least one machine needs 2 GB right roughly 10 into 2 I need at least 20 GB but to manage all these things I also need RAM to my laptop right my local laptop is also going to use a ram so for local laptop minimum to minimum if it is Windows 10 minimum it will take 4 GB worst case so 24 GB how can I managing with a particular 16 GB very simple even though I created 100 servers here I can create 100 servers here with 16 GB Ram also but these are all in powered off State see so if it is in powered off State it is going to okay it is not going to use the resources are you getting the point guys I can create 100 machines here but if you are starting if I'm starting all these 10 machines that's it my laptop will be hanged why because because every machine is going to consume the whole memory and all so as they are in power off State I can create any machines n number of machines why because if it is in power off State it is not going to consume the resources that's how it is going to work guys so all the machines are in powered off State now but generally I can run three machines at a time okay even I have 10 servers I can still run only three machines at a time guys clear everyone why because once these three machines are started it will start allocating the the memory and all will be allocated to these three machines and my local laptop of course one more machine so parall four machines are running so that is enough my Ram is manage my Ram can manage four machines okay but if you want to start fifth machine and all again it will be hanged the whole RAM and CPU will be busy and it will be hanged so that's how even though you have multiple machines still you can manage it by just powering off and on guys this is how we are going to manage the things clear guys now are we good fine so what we will do now let's discuss Let's uh start creating the virtual machines so if I want to create this virtual machine what I should have guys first tell me now tell me the order now if I want to create this virtual machine now so what I should have first virtual box virtual machine software right so I'm going to use Oracle virtual box software okay so let me show you how to Oracle virtual box software in my machine it's already installed so I cannot uninstall and I cannot show you how to it again so if anyone anyone join from the laptop if anyone is ready to share your because most of you are using um Windows 10 laptops so if it is uh virtual box seven means compatibility issues and all will come so we can go with the virtual box six and all okay can you see somewhere older builds will be there older builds okay go up go up previous yeah yeah click on the previous releases yeah yeah see here guys once you click down the previous releases you can see virtual box 6.1 can you see virtual work 6.1 click on that 6.1 6.1 is compatible for Windows 10 and windows 11 laptops also okay even though if you're using Windows 11 laptops again you can see Microsoft Windows only keep it as it is if you want to create Linux machines and all you can select that you'll have different different options L ACC Solaris IBM Mac OS you can choose any of the option but we are going to use Microsoft Windows only keep it as it is the last option okay Microsoft which version you are going to guys Windows go down you can see lot of options Windows servers also you can see here up to Windows 2019 it is showing right remember one thing guys here always you have to select any version but it should be 64bit only in the brackets you can see 64bit you can select Windows 2016 here nothing will happen the logo the icon beside that you can see a small icon right it is showing seven blue color black color and all can you see guys yes that is the one only it will create that logo guys but you can choose Windows 2016 here and you can Windows 2019 also so if you have Windows 2019 choose Windows 2019 yes Windows 2019 64bit remember guys Windows 2019 64bit sometimes click on the same drop down ra sometimes it will only show you 32 bit it won't show you 64 bit and all in the older machines in the older laptops it will show you only 32bit why it will show will be fast as you don't have memory to allocate if you have 8 rupees and 6 rupees already you just reserved you have only 2 rupees so that two rupees you can give it to others so shanuk I having two rupees but can I give four rupees no two rupees only even if you select 4GB here nothing will happen but maximum it will use the reserved space only okay guys good are we good questions doubts sir need to choose any option keep it as it is go go to next and op dynamically allocated I'm allocating a storage now in the next screen so it should be allocated dynamically we cannot give fixed storage if you don't use fixed sto if you don't use that for example 50gb allocated for this virtual machine while allocating you can either choose dynamic or fixed if you choose fixed that 50 GB will be reserved even though you're using or not using if you choose dynamically allocated if even though you allocated 50 GB how much currently 1 minute just one minute please right okay so guys uh dynamically allocated means even though you allocated 50 GB out of 50 GB how much is used if it is 10 GB then remaining 40 GB you can see as a free space in the Drive currently he is creating R is creating this virtual machine in his D drive so it will consume 50 GB of D drive if there is a free space of 50 GB in his D drive if you allocated a dynamically allocated if you choose dynamically allocated out of 50gb also if this machine is actually using 20 GB remaining 30 GB you can make use of for other things and all so dynamically allocated is good one or fixed is good one guys tell me which option is good one dynamically dynamically so it is not going to waste the storage whereas fixed whether you are using or not using it will keep holding that 50 GB until the machine is up and running okay so make sure dynamically get this selected go to next and storage how much you want you can allocate here I'm going to allocate 30 GB that will be fine guys or 35 GB you can use you can give here so here you can see that one last one 50 GB to showing right you can give 30 GB 35 GB and based on your space 50 is 50 is fine sure 50 is also fine but again we are not going to use till 50 so it will be waste okay so you can give 35 Max 35 35 give you can give 35 GB guys Okay click create that's it yeah now you created a virtual machine guys that's it this is how we will create virtual actually in your laptop see you can two virtual machines two operating systems guys but your laptop will be corrupted okay so it's not recommended to multiple operating systems on a virtual machine just one virtual machine one operating system if you want to one more operating system create one more virtual machine I'm asking as for the real time scenario why we will do that we don't do that M as I said we don't why because if you are installing multiple operating system on a single machine which virtual machine which operating system you will use we cannot keep on switching between the operating systems right one virtual machine one operating system that's it in the real time also we'll do in the same way one virtual machine one operating system so they don't allocate the same virtual machine to other applications why if we have to do any maintenance tasks maintenance activities if there is a chance that you have to restart this virtual machine all the applications that are running on this virtual machines will be down first of all whatever you're asking on a single virtual machine can I multiple operating systems technically it is possible but it's not recommended and even organizations also will not allow to do that first thing the short answer is no second thing is we'll have a separate separate virtual machines and sharing a single virtual machine to all the applications is not at all recommended if that machine is down all the applications also will be down so the answer is no okay mother any other questions guys um sh yes I know for um I think they have Virtual in this Oracle virtual box is there a SQL template where no no no no no no no there will be no SQL template at all no this is not like a aure this is on promises right you have to add the operating system you have to add the SQL software and and then you have to so it's not like a bunch of package that you are going to get it okay with the operating system and all you don't get any SQL template you have to attach the SQL software and you have to it manually yeah once you've everything manually can you convert that V to a template uh can you I'm not getting can you when you've installed everything windows and if you put SQL in there can you now convert that VM into a template so you are asking for a template template for creating the virtual machine and SQL Server no no I'm asking you um sh once you've deployed this VM right cor you you Windows right and you um SQL on it correct can you now convert that that VM into a template where request I just yes got it you asking lot of time to troubleshoot instead of that creating virtual machine installing the operating system itself is very easy okay but yes there is an option to create this as a template and you can make
