foreign we believe that interior design is not just a luxury for people who have a lot of money but it's an amazing tool for mental health and wellness and a way that we can really help people overcome really difficult situations [Music] [Music] I was actually at my church and there was a call that came into the front office that a young woman and her daughter were coming out of a shelter they were getting their first home but they didn't have any furniture could anybody help did anybody have anything to donate and I raised my hand at that moment because I was like I can I know I had a home stage I've done case management like this is a perfect way for me to help them create their home and at that moment I realized this is more powerful than just you know making something beautiful this is really a healing tool and it just kind of took off from there foreign [Music] our current client uh she is an amazing young woman that came through a an organization a local organization that helps young mothers who are trying to get through school but don't maybe have been through a situation where they were in partner violence domestic violence or have little to no family support so uh in this case uh the young woman has one broken bed and her her toddler is sleeping in another room and he has a bed and that's it there's nothing else in their apartment and we've been working with them over the past month to learn their story so that we can build out a package based on their story of who they are we're doing some other things in the meantime we're doing the design but we're also going to have like a dance session together we're bringing in an art therapist to work with uh the son to create some art for his room um and doing a few other things so that we can build a foundation for mental health that can be followed after we leave [Music] so just things that you wouldn't necessarily think of um but create create a enormous impact for clients that we serve [Music] becoming the the founder and the leader of this organization has been the most life-changing thing that's ever happened to me um I think it's given me purpose it's given me drive and those moments where I felt like there wasn't a lot of support because some people still don't really understand the impact that it has it's a very Niche sort of intervention for people um just thinking about the families that we've helped and visualizing all of those folks over time it makes me so excited and happy and fulfilled I believe that home is home is medicine home is your the only place in the world where you come back to every night and you recharge you refresh it should be that that space for everyone foreign
