how these calculations are performed in the system let's get started we will uncover the concepts of day supply receipts day supply and related alerts by the end of this video you will have a comprehensive understanding of these functions I mean the product view that is nothing but rrp3 view so whenever I come to this screen I see this information but I didn't pay attention so here we do have some information uh which is very uh useful to the factory planner and of course here as well there is some details around the alerts from ECC uh PP point of view uh there's a D Supply calculation we found it in those screens as well we understand what is the logic but at least from my side I never calculated how it is been calculated so this time I just tried so I thought of sharing with you so before getting into the calculation let's think of what is uh D Supply and rece day supply so the day supply the definition is I cannot really bring the definition but as per my definition how many days you can be satisfied with the existing stock that means how many days you can cover the requirement with the existing stock so what does this mean it is 1.11 days I will be comfortable for next 1.11 days next means from current day and time from current day and time I will be comfortable for next 1.1 one days after that there may be some requirement or I will be shortage of my stock to cover that particular requirement so what is the receip day supply it is similar to day supply but here it considers the the receipts as well in the day supply it considers only the stock but here it considers the receipts as well again it is showing 1.11 days so now let's calculate how the system is calculating 1.11 days here I do have a simple MRP elements so that we can easily calculate so once again the definition is the system by using the existing stock how many days I will be comfortable uh to satisfy the requirement so first of all we need to check the stock here there is no stock at all that me that means zero stock but still it is showing I can manage next 1.11 days yeah that it is right so I do not have any current stock but when is the first requirement is coming the first requirement is coming on uh 15th 12:00 today is 14 and the time is around 9:30 so now let's calculate me get the calculator so tomorrow tomorrow by 12:00 we need the material to satisfy this demand so that means tomorrow we will get 0.5 days because it is uh 12 12 noon so5 days tomorrow is available coming to today's date and time so it is 14 and almost 9:30 so what we can do so how how much time left out to today so 12 + uh 230 almost 14.5 hours left out so 0 60 so today we left out with this day and tomorrow we'll get 05 so almost you are getting 1.14 maybe I need to refresh it it is 1 point one that is what the calculation is giving that is about the day supp so there is a alert information given so we'll discuss that as well and before that let's calculate the receipt day supply so what is the difference between do in the receipt day supply the system considers the receipts as well along with the existing stock okay again the same parameters mrb elements right now no stock as of now fine my first requirement is coming on 15th uh 12:00 so I said the receipts can be considered I do have a receipt on 15 but it is coming on the midnight that is it is coming late so this receipts cannot be considered for this requirement so in terms it is I I don't I don't not have any receipts at all that is the meaning because the demand is before the receips so again if I calculate again I will end up with the same calculation it is 1.10 at least in this example both the values are same we will tweak some details so that we can see uh how the system is calculating with the different uh date and type now let's get into the alerts so it is showing error information by standard how it is showing and what is the setting behind of that so basically if you click here it will take you to that particular setting so on behind of that this Supply is AP1 that is the value taken for your information you can have three different uh day supply that you can have it in the aler monitor as well so if you work with alert monitor allot monitor will take a priority okay so coming back so this is the day supply in the day supply first let's see the left hand panel I said the system will consider the stock so which are all the stocks so these stocks will be considered any of this type it will be considered as a stock and coming to receip I said in the day supply it won't consider any receipts but it considers it considers from this category only this category will be considered as a receipts not like a plan order or process order production order that will be considered as a receipts of course uh we do not have any plan add at least on that particular day so it is not considering and requirements so this will be considered as a requirement and forast so this is the forecast which uh we do have as a forecast category so I'm talking about this first line it is a forecast requirement so once again going back uh to explain what is this uh alert information it is showing it is a error message so that comes from uh this place so minimum day supply if it is less than 5 day 5 day The System supposed to show a uh error message if it is between 5 to 10 then it supposed to show warning if it is between 10 to 20 it has to be a information if it is going Beyond 20 days then there should not be any uh alert message at all so this is the place so this is about the day supply which I explained similar way rece days Supply also the same sort of settings available from the calculation perspective I said it will consider the receipts so all these plan ERS plan order form production order process order all the receipts it will consider and you can have your own rece day supply uh concept by configuring and assume that if you want to consider only the firmed or confirmed receipts something like a process order or production order you can have those category so that system considers only those receipts during your receip days Supply calculation so this is how the system calculates now coming to the error here as well the similar type of information you will be finding here again you can tweak as per your uh business requirement now let's change the details and see how how the calculation is happening what we do let's change this uh requirement date to 16 so requirement date moved to 16 okay the calculation also changed dynamically be quickly we can calculate how is it calculated here so again today is 14 and the requirement is on 16 so in between there is a full day one day full day first uh once again the definition is for the day supply it considers only the uh stock to satisfy the requirement okay so how many days we will be comfortable with the existing stock so there is no stock fine but how many days um we can cover with the existing stock so at least today and tomorrow there is no uh requirement the requirement is coming on 16th uh 12:00 noon so tomorrow we have one whole day so that is completely one day so today we have the left out is 0.60 today we left out with 0 0.6 days and tomorrow we have one day then on 16th we will be getting 05 days because the requirement is on 12 noon [Music] so so 2.1 days this is for the day supply coming to rece day supply the calculation is we The System supposed to consider the receipts as well okay so there is one receipt actually so so the receipt is 3,000 quantity but the requirement is 8 8,000 so you are ending up with the shortage not able to satisfied with the existing receip so again it is the same concept so the calculation also same and coming to this error it is below 5 days that is why it is solid that means the factory planner needs to so focus more on this because within 2 days he's he's going to drain out with his stock or he may need to uh consider the requirement how to fulfill it okay again it is given the same date and time let's check let's modify and see um I'll go with some other day maybe night it's not giving any change so yeah this is the fraction due to the time change still showing 16 okay maybe 23 let's put 23 okay now some Chang is happening so let's see uh let's understand how this calculation is happening first day supply as per the definition um it's supposed to consider only the stock and for us the requirement is coming on uh 23rd 23rd so we are on 14 so here 7 days so 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 so up to 22 we have 8 days then in on 23 we have 05 so 8.5 days we already covered 8.5 days from uh 15 to 23 noon 8.5 days today also we left out with the some time so again if I take um approximately I'll go with so 1 2 3 4 5 5 6 7 8 8.5 days with 8.5 days we need to add the current left out time so current left out time is 12 + [Music] 14.15 hours and 8.5 days supposed to be 8 9.89 yeah almost we are reaching so yeah we reached so now this is the day supply calculation so why it is warning so warning if you remember the warning comes um if the day is between 5 to 10 then it's supposed to be a warning so that's why is showing the warning now day supply is fine now coming to rece day supply rece day supply is the system will consider the receipt as well along with the existing stock so there is no stock so 6.5 and 8,000 we left out with the shortage so in the receip today Supply as I understand the re day supply gives the number of days between today's date and at the time of which the requirements can no longer be completely covered no longer be completely covered by the stock or the receipts in our example it is partially covered so that means still the system understands that we are covering this demand after this there is no demand at all so it assumes that with the existing receipts and the stock you can be satisfied and the next receipt supposed to happen after 99 days okay so that means there is not there is no need of doing any more receipts because you do not have any more uh demand at all what we do we'll create one more demand that will give some more understanding I will go with 3,000 quantity so this requirement I created to cross verify the receip supply you see here it is still the same value now it is Chang now let's calculate I'm completely going out of stock on this particular day so between current day to this day how many days available let's calculate so today is 14 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 so 9 days the whole day 9 days is there on 24th I will have I will get 05 so 9.5 days 9.5 days from 15th to 24th today I left out with this some more day so 9.5 days plus 58 9.5 days so today I [Music] have this is today and uh remaining days 9.5 so 10.89 yeah so this is how the rece day supply calculate it is information it is information message so if it is less than 5 day it is a error if it is less than uh 10 days it's supposed to be warning uh if it is between 10 to 20 it's supposed to be information if it is beyond 20 there should there won't be any message that's why for 999 we are not getting any message but here it is showing a information message so I hope this give you a good understanding of how to use this day supply and receip day supply calculation and basically this is very much useful for the factory planner that based on this alled messages when are they going to uh when are they uh empty with their existing stocks so they need to take action ingly thank you
