[Music] hey camp pros I'm Nelson but my campers call me Klee you know what I always say camps like a playground you put it you get up kids just love it in today so yes I'm gonna hit you with the ten things you can do to get the most out of staff training number one hang out with new people this can be scary or intimidating at first but during meals is a great time to try this out hey great let's get to know each other I [Applause] know a lot of teachers say there's no such thing as a double oyster that camp that's actually true number three to share information it's great to get other staff members perspectives on things and a great conversation starter hey what do you think about that policies and procedures talk oh my god I have so main question me too let's chat [Music] [Applause] number four bring snacks nup set number five pack your favorite t-shirts I love the thanks you see number six bring a notebook you'll be getting a lot of information so it's great to take notes during talks and then review it later before bed number seven what's learning more about the schedule and general happenings at camp you'll get lots of ideas about activities you want to leave with your kids write them down the best time to plan is during staff training since once the campers arrived there's a lot more to take care of number eight get to know your campers read their camper files how old are they what are they interested in talk to the nurse or your head counselor if there's some questions you have number nine build relationships with three key coworkers first of the three someone who said your job in the past what can you learn from them second key co-worker your supervisor camp bosses aren't like to your regular boss they're your cool boss third key co-worker your co counselor learn how you can best support them and what kind of counseling style they like [Music] number ten last but not least this may sound but you know what be yourself campus full of people who are all different from each other really take staff training to get to know everyone and form connections before the kids come and the work really starts [Applause] [Music] you
