Snow removal invoice template for Security
hey everyone thanks for joining me Derek James here and I'm doing a bit of a a test live stream right now it's going to be a real live stream um we are going to go for about an hour from uh well 11:30 to 12:30 central time but that'll be an hour ahead for Eastern time um kind of the same time that I did back before my move so uh I didn't publicly shout this out so if you are joining or watching feel free to let me know in the chat because I did again like I said shout this out to anybody what we're going to be doing today though is actually going through uh bids like like we used to back in you know the good old days it's really what I've wanted to really get back to doing uh reading bids live so we're going to take you know just under an hour maybe 45 minutes like we've done in the past and focus on going through bid rfps rfqs in beta.sam.gov so if that sounds good to you you're in the right place and uh for those who are are going to be watching this in the future in the replay hello uh really what this is going to be focused on is snow plowing and snow removal bids so I decided to come up with the idea to focus on one type of you know service or or good or product for this type of uh thing so that those of you who are who are again watching um in the future you kind of know what you're you're getting in for instead of just looking at a bunch of random bids and maybe you're hoping that we cover one that you know you might be interested in or maybe would pertain to you well you know we're going to be looking at snow removal um I thought it might be timely because of you know the the time of the year Christmas just passed we're kind of still pushing through the holidays with with New Year coming up so I thought that might be a cool timely type topic to cover um so just a few more administrative things and then we will hop over to beta.sam.gov but for any of you that are just joining um this is a test stream but it's going to be a real stream and I didn't Shout It Out publicly to anybody in case there's going to be any technological issues or anything um I wanted to get those out of the way before you know pushing that in a mass email or putting that on any of the social platforms but those of you who are you know uh getting the the chance to you know kind of you know stumble upon this since I didn't shout it out to anybody um let me know I I do see we have some a few live attendees right now let me know in the chat that you're here um I'm using a new software called streamyard and you can see it probably right in this this corner right here on your screen um I'm using the free trial version right now and I want to do a few of these this week and if it goes well then I'm going to invest the money to get the the software and uh we can do something uh using this type of software I think it's pretty cool but let me know if you're here in the chat so that I know you're here I do see we have some people watching um one thing I like about this is that I can do screen sharing and that was one of my biggest uh things holding me back if you will uh because you know all the bids of the day and and RFP type walkthroughs that I've done in the past those were all pre-recorded even all the way back to like beta uh not beta.sam back to uh FBO before the whole you know transition has uh switched over um you know I I was doing everything on pre-recording now I'm seeing the chat is is popping up so that's awesome I'm still learning some of the tabs here but uh Del Sean Hayes money control TV hello what's going on SOC looking handsome there sir thank you so much and Jeff fennel Jeff what is going on Jeff is my man uh how's it going uh going very well Jeff hope you and your family had uh Pleasant holidays and hope all of you have as well so it looks like the chat is working here in streamyard so uh you know you just have to bear with me through this live that we do because it's going to be uh you know me kind of testing and checking out technology things if there's issues but I'm assuming you can hear me okay and uh hopefully the the the picture is working I got a brand new camera I had to get a few different lenses to get the picture right so hopefully the picture looks pretty crisp on your end and hopefully the audio is strong and the lighting is as well I've spent over a month trying to get all this figured out and you know it's all coming to this moment where I get to kind of do this test with with you all so um yeah that's kind of what's going on so if you can just bear with me if we have any issues today but again I am having a purpose of this live and we are going to be looking at bids so you'll at least get some value from this even on the replay um so you kind of know what you're you're headed you know in for and again um I don't think the video got published but uh anybody who doesn't know this is my new office I mean you know welcome uh I've kind of gotten used to it over the last month this is a a brand new space I've decided to make the investment in the business allowing me more time and focus to create things and do things like this to help all of you in the govcon space or those of you who are wanting to get into the govcon space I've made this investment so this is kind of uh maybe I can do a I'll do like a tour type thing one of these days where you can kind of see it's just one big room though it's not uh anything too fancy but it's it's just enough for me so uh it's it's pretty cool and I got this nice desk that it came with uh the office as well so you know well I think we're doing I think we're doing good uh fanton also says hello sir happy Christmas and happy New Year thank you so much uh happy Christmas and happy holidays to all of you this time of year um I think we're good think we can uh hop over and I'll introduce you to the screen sharing and then we can actually use it to go to beta.sam and find our group here so uh it's kind of cool I've got some some buttons that you can see so you should be able to see now that uh guess right in this area I don't think I can quite point to it over here yeah there we go found it so right here you should be seeing um a bit of screen sharing and that's going to be kind of too small for you to see so I can also do something like this where you should be able to see me you know scrolling um or even if you want to see me and the screen something like this uh and you can see me go to contract opportunities you can still see my face talking here a little bit um but most importantly you can see my screen which right now we're looking at beta.sam and this is how we're going to be looking at bids together so if you can in the chat let me know that you're seeing my screen and all that is looking uh good to you and if I get a green light from you guys then um I'll set up some I'll run some searches here and we'll look at some snowplowing bids and we'll just kind of uh wing it off the cuff but we'll be focused on those so again let me know in the chat how the uh how the screen is looking so that you can I'm going check my phone here too you can um see my screen and everything looks good to you uh Lala with love is is my girlfriend and she's calling me out because I I didn't say hi to her I thought I did how are you doing love I hope you are well and thanks for joining uh joining the stream here um cool I got some thumbs up and looks good so awesome let's go into it I'm going to go into full screen mode though let me know if you guys want to see like my face here um I I'll kind of do both or if you would prefer to have the bigger screen kind of let me know too but I'll just I'll kind of just I'll pick this one and then if you PR prefer to have the bigger screen if it's kind of hard to see um we can I can easily switch that around so um let's just go for it so betam contract opportunities I'm literally just GNA go to snow in the keywords here and for my uh my other filter my primary other filter is response date offers due it's going to take this 353 results down to something probably much smaller uh but you know this is kind of the month the season for these type of procurements snow plowing and stuff so we should have a decent amount so let's just do the past month and I'll click filter so that took us down from something like 339 to 39 so about four pages probably worth of results cool cool um so that's right so I'm really not biased on any of these I guess the only other filter I would want to run right now is the type of notice uh for those of you who know the four stages of a bid as I call it we have Source OFA pre-solicitation solicitation and award the solicitation stage is the only stage where you could put a response together and have a chance at winning a contract since we're looking at you know kind of like bids of the day here we are going to filter by the appropriate type of notice for us which is solicitation and combined synopsis solicitation so that took us down from 39 to 20 so that means uh in the past month there were 20 of these results with the keyword snow in it that uh are actual solicitations and bids that we can uh respond to and potentially potentially win so that's kind of what this quick search tells us and this is really my my go-to type setup type of notice keyword or or a n code I didn't use a n code because I'm not uh I don't have a lot of landscaping type nak codes off the top of my head and then uh type of notice as well as the offer due date really with those three main filters you can get into a little bit of trouble so this same one is still up at the top it's due December 28th parking lot snow removal ltbmu and this is for the Department of Agriculture so I say looks good enough to me if it ends up being something we don't want to look at that's fine but let's see what we got here so Department of Agriculture due today so this is basically going to be for instructive purposes since you're not realistically going to be able to bid on this total small business set aside they're using that Landscaping n code that I talked about a place of performance is uh Cal California South Lake Tahoe apparently uh I mean Lake Tahoe is beautiful right just leave the snow alone probably it's so beautiful there but yeah apparently they have a need the purpose of this amendment is to correct a period of performance from the base year one Jan um so basically looks like they're correcting the year on this uh because they put January 2020 instead of January 2021 so they're calling this an amendment down here you could see that there was an original solicitation and that's really what they are creating an amendment to and then when you go to the solicitation updated we have the most updated information it looks like they still carried the attachments over so I'm not going to be overly fixated with yeah it looks like the same attachments with going through this original solicitation so guys um I'm just letting you know I am able to quickly jump over to the chat so this is going to be a bit open Forum uh I can I can easily see your comments so if I cover something that you have a question about or I went over it to quickly or something like that um I will be bouncing back and forth kind of uh throughout just so you know um I once I get in my groove I get to talking but uh don't you know I can still see you I haven't forgotten about you and if you put something in the chat uh I can take time to respond to that just so you know so we're dealing with uh the amended version here we have 1 two 3 four five attachments they're telling us uh this is for four administrative sites of the Lake Tahoe Basin management unit so that's what the ltbmu stands for contractor shall be responsible for removing uh snow on asphalt and concrete Paving using both plow methods and rotary snow removal methods okay contractor shall furnace the necessary necessary labor all good because of covid-19 restrictions I am teleworking please contact me via robert. brry usda.gov so this is a real like firstperson type narrative please contact me I'm working remotely teleworking because of covid-19 so that's letting us know that Rob Bert is probably going to be able to answer his phone um even though things like this solicitations you don't really make phone calls he seems very open he he's giving you insight into his his setup that he has going on right now not to abuse that or anything but it's usually more of an invite than you would typically see so what I want to do is we've got five attachments what I want to do is quickly go through each of them see what they are I'm I want to see what is you I want to see what's being asked in more detail and then I want to identify what is going to be required in a successful response to this those are the main things we cover and I think that's what's most uh most crucial for you but if there's something more that you want to see or something about this you want to talk about let me know what's going on with you in the chat let me know what your question is we have attachment one two three we have a looks like in our FP and then we have a or or an RFQ solicitation Doc and then here's the revision so this is probably the original and that's the amendment so let's go ahead and look at the amendment and see what this looks like and I haven't looked at this before if you can't tell so you're going through this at the same time as me right off the bat I'm seeing that this is a sf1 1449 form government issued form um and this is the type of form that you fill out I can quickly see here that they're wanting a base year these are the four different sites that they already showed us at the the very upfront thing um then we have option year to remove snow plow from the parking lot supervisor's office as well okay so we have one base year option year one two three and four so this is five 5 years of snow plowing and snow removal could be could be a good contract we've found all that out just from these first two pages and again here is where did it go yeah here is Robert bry's information so we're on we're doing good we're on the same page here description of requirement for admin sites we know this um they're telling us there's a statement of work a wage determination Technic evaluation factors so those are probably those other attachments at least that's what they're they're telling us so we can go through those as we finish with this instructions to offers they're saying uh offers must you must be registered in Sam guys we know this um submit offers by email to Robert bryy okay we kind of already know that address questions about the solicitation also to Robert bryy um hopefully I'm pronouncing his name uh correctly they're saying for evaluation the following Factor shall be used price and past performance so um that was kind of interesting because they referenced a uh a technical I believe they just referenced a technical section earlier technical evaluation factors so they'll probably just go into I guess past performance and price during these evaluation factors but we'll see usually technical evaluation factors means there's a technical response but you know we'll see sometimes they sparse words back and forth and um let me make sure you guys are still doing good in the chat here uh Del Sean hay says is it best to search with keywords versus NY codes not necessarily um what I would say about that is using keywords is sometimes more helpful than n codes if you don't know what n codes to use or you've had trouble in the past finding a n code that is a good fit uh for whatever the good or Services you're trying to procure so I always take a hybrid approach and uh you know have certain searches set aside for uh keywords and other searches set up for NEX codes or PSC codes so good good uh question and uh you kind of got to make sure you have both of those tools in your Your Arsenal in case you know you come up against something that you're not finding anything Jeff says can you showcase Where You Are um Jeff what do you what do you mean uh can please please expand on that because if there's a technology issue I want to get it also taken care of s SOC says looks like you have to share the window you are currently looking at it's best to share your desktop so maybe there is some technological issues here guys um so let me know are you unable to see this in uh are you able to see this that I forget to cck click this is this better this big screen here is this is this better is this what you weren't seeing before I just want to make sure yeah if you're not oh oh oh oh I think I get what you're saying you could see this part but you couldn't see the attachment that I opened I think that's what you're you're trying to say because it opened in a a new a new browser and so you're saying instead share your whole window Jeff says yep NOP don't see the PDF got it yeah so share the whole window instead then you'll be able to see exactly whatever it is I'm looking at that's okay so these are the type of Technology things that we can easily fix um I'm glad that you you said that thank you and also Florentina said uh we can see the screen but it's showing the search results perfect okay thank you guys yeah that's exactly what I needed to know so I'm going to stop sharing my screen for a second now you can see me what's going on and now I should instead be able to have the option to share my browser and when I do that it's going to show this infinite like looking at itself on the screen until I switch off I was trying to avoid that um but it looks like it's probably going to be the the only way so if I share my entire screen now you can see the million infinite windows and uh let me at least do this so it looks a little bit better for you and then when I go over to here you should be able to see the solicitation that I am looking at so I'm going to remain on this for just a second because now I can't see you because now I'm looking at the whole screen um so I'm going to be on here for a second let me know now if you can see the PDF and if so we can uh continue thank you so much for uh getting me on the right track here that's the whole purpose of doing this this test live here so thank you okay so in a second now I'm going to come back and I'm going to check to see if you um are good to go on the PDFs now okay nobody uh commented yet so just let me know if you're able okay dhan says yes LA with love says yes s SOC says yes make it bigger um all right so let me do this and then let me go back to the PDF I think this should fix it so let me just get a resounding yes from you guys one last time because I don't want to continue if we're still not good um did does this make it bigger for you is this is this what you needed to see um let me come back now and check 1249 yep so let me know okay Jeff says yes Florentina thumbs up and yes perfect okay guys I'm going to continue then onward and then uh that makes it a little tough because I wanted you to be able to to see me on the sides but uh it's okay I guess um when I'm looking at the things just within my Chrome tab we can do that but when we start looking at PDFs and things outside the browser we'll have to do this so that's okay it's it's all good learning so again since you didn't see any of this I'll quickly just uh show you we were looking at the SF 1449 here again um since you probably didn't see any of it we started here inside the notice there was this uh amendment that I was referring to but it has been updated and now they're telling us the purpose of this amendment so what they've done was they've carried all these same attachments from the first solicitation and since this is an amendment they've reattached those attachments and um added the revised PDF and this is what I was going through that you guys weren't able to see but now I'm uh sharing my screen so you should be able to do that should be able to see that okay everybody's still saying yes good cool so now we'll go now back into the document that I was looking at SF 1449 Robert Briney as I was calling out earlier we can see right off the bat that there were these uh basically they put the price and cleanse right in here but we could see it was a base year plus option year one two three and four so this is five years and this is one job they're not even breaking it out uh to pushes or or um plows it's literally how much does it take to remove snow from the entire parking lot trius estate they've given us four different sites as they mentioned here I guess you guys you missed that as well in the description They're saying four administrative sites within Lake Tahoe Basin which is the LT bmu and so that's kind of where we're at um these are all the different option years and where I left off now was they referenced these different attachments instruction to offers right here they're just saying You must be in Sam submit your offers to Robert address any questions to Robert evaluation factors is past performance and price and I believe this is essentially where we left off so this tells us right off the bat if we're making a bid no bid decision on this that we are going to need past performance on something like this now again you can make the argument you wouldn't even be looking at it if you didn't have past performance but that's not necessarily true for a lot of Industries because a lot of Industries as you know some of you guys you just get started and you win your first contract within a few months of starting and it's like I didn't have past performance well that's because not all requirements uh well not all bids have that as a requirement rather um and so you may be looking at stuff and find out that you required pass performance and then you make the decision not to bid on it and that's okay because there's oftentimes opportunities where you don't have to have pass performance but in this case point being price and pass performance is going to be critical in winning this bid if you don't have pass performance or you don't know how to price this you should save your own time and move on to something else it took us all about five minutes and honestly if I was doing it on my own I probably would have found it within the first 30 seconds but you know since I'm live we found it in the first five minutes so we found it pretty quickly offers reps and Sears um if your reps inserts are not completed in Sam again if you you don't know I've talked about this previously but you've completed reps inserts when you registered your entity at sam.gov those are all those pages you have to click through next next next um about halfway through you can literally log into your own sam.gov profile your entity and download a copy of your own reps inserts if you don't have them otherwise you can complete the ones that you see them attach themselves all the time in these rfps and these rfqs it's up to you whatever uh route you want to go so we're seeing a bit of that and probably some Far Clauses in here and we are just about at the bottom so there was not a lot to this PDF this uh solicitation document the sf1 1449 not a lot here um I'm more excited to get into some of those other documents so looks like we're still good in the chat sorry that you have to see this crazy uh infinite screen I'll call it but I have to do that I guess to check the chat so um let's look at these other attachments we've got a parking lot statement of work we have a wage determination and then this evaluation factors we'll take it from the top look at attachment one and let's just see this is it's only seven pages so this is attachment one this is is it's going to be a bit of a statement of work um looks like with with some maps so this is you know I want to try to talk more higher level because I don't want to sit here and read to you this is not story time um and put you to sleep because this is just an example anyways this being a a statement of work performance of work statement scope these are all pretty much interchangeable terms um what this is is it's telling you the work that needs to be done these are the specifics so when you go to quote the job it's going to give you look it's already telling a specifics about site one it's giving you um looks like address details and then they go into give us they're saying execution part two exactly what they want you to do they're calling it morning snow removal uh they have subsequent daily snow removal so these are the specific things that You' want to know when you're putting your your pricing and your bid together you can see here it looks like they've even uh they've graded out but looks like they had a price in there and they graded out so they they have what's called an IG or an igce uh internal government cost estimate um it looks like that's what this was it says if there is more than 24 inches of snow the contractor will be paid for two visits so they get into these type of details where it's like at a certain point um it's like doing two snow plows because it's so much snow so they're going to pay you double what they would pay you for like you know the first 12 inches or or whatever it ends up being um so they're talking about details like this so my real point with this is most rfps rfqs I would say nearly all of them have the equivalent of this document and what this document gives you is those those details about the job primarily you're going to need those details like I said to bid on contract they're giving us Maps here which is really really helpful and I guess there's really not too much to look at these Maps really what they're showing is square footage they're showing main roads they're showing um critical things like propane tanks barns um and they're also probably uh wanting to illustrate any parking lots and sidewalks that are going to need to be to be plowed yeah here they're saying sidewalk removal snow pile areas things like that fences I mean this isn't rocket science this isn't government this isn't even Government Contracting this is just business this is the same information that they would probably provide to a Commercial contractor if this was just like a commercial job you know one business to another needs uh their snow removal say it's like a big facility or something they're probably going to have a bit of a standard process this isn't even really so much Government Contracting at this point this is just just kind of Common Sense business type stuff uh and a lot of it is really what this this document is we still good in the chat looks good um and welcome to anybody who's new uh and joining if you didn't uh catch me at the very beginning what we're doing is a test type uh live bid review um looking at specifically snow plowing and snow removal opportunities today and let me actually go ahead I'm going to stop sharing so you can see me give you a break and then um I'll go back to sharing my whole screen in a second but what we're doing is we're doing a bit of a test stream I did not blast it out to everybody because I wanted to do a test um there's three or four of you have already helped me uh with not being able to see the screen at one point in time and looks like we fixed that so that's exactly what the point of this is It's kind of doing that troubleshooting but we are looking at actual bits today also for you to get some some value out of it so those of you who have joined uh after we started that's kind of what's going on and I'm using a new streaming software called uh streamyard you see that in this upperhand corner right here and if all goes well this week I plan to do a few more of those this week so everybody knows um I'll probably end up getting the software and then we will do uh some more of these things in the future maybe make it more of a Capstone type thing here on YouTube uh that's really kind of the direction I'm hoping that we can go in and I also let everybody else know that uh if you have any questions as we're going through these um put those in the chat I can bounce back and forth and check those and uh otherwise we're going to keep plowing through here so I'll go back to sharing my screen share my whole screen so we can get back to it so we had just looked at the solicitation doc there wasn't a whole lot to it we learned it was past performance in price uh five years four sites and also um a bit of the statement of of work here we've got some maps and we got some more information that we could choose to go into more detail if we wanted to on on trying to you know price this thing out with some of the details on the different snowplow types and things of that nature right so that's about it for this document I want to keep keep the pace up here and U go on to now I'll come back to the wage determination in a second let's go to the technical evaluation factors which is attachment three looks like it's a word doc one page so this is what they're providing you anytime the government gives you a form or something to fill out you want to make sure you do it and you want to make sure you don't try and and deviate from what they've given you just kind of give them what they want this is clearly a form that they've created up which is why I always say every bid is different well it's literally different sometimes by the Contracting officer or the Contracting specialist this is literally just a a word table that they put in here with some questions okay um there's no cookie cutter approach that really exists everything is going to be a little bit different and that's why my teaching style is learning the main Concepts and then you will be able to basically dangerous enough to do what you got to do on your own um if I just show you one way of doing things you're going to run into trouble because it always changes so this is past performance if you don't know past performance is uh basically how you've done on work that you've completed previously past experience as previous work that you've done now you know that's there's technically a difference between the two and that's what the difference is work that you've done versus how you've done on work that you've done right um but oftentimes they throw those words around and they just call it past performance and they just want to know work that you've done in the past could be personal could be commercial uh you know buses to business or it could be b2g um with some government agency whether it's city state or local or federal it's usually all good so what contracts has your firm performed on that are similar in scope magnitude and complexity that's what they always always look for you don't need to list more than five you need not list more than five and can be provided in any format or as an attachment so they're being very very Loosey Goosey on this they're saying it's kind of up to you they're not giving you a minimum number so if you had a few I would give you I'd give a few he usually the golden number when it comes to past performance and they want to know the name of the project the type of the project how much was the job a point of contact name email and phone number for it and do that three four five times if you have it and that's the information they're looking for in this table it's it's pretty straightforward guys um and then a question a how extensive was your site visit for this project different examples of I didn't visit or I drove by some areas walked each acre um and then what did the site visit reveal about the comparative difficulty of the project this is kind of interesting type questions to ask please provide a brief technical approach to this project to include number of personnel type of equipment and estimate time at each location per visit so this is interesting because they're putting it in this past performance thing and this really is not I don't believe this is asking about your past performance I believe this is asking specific questions about this job about this live bid that's due today December 28th um so it's like they've meshed that with this past performance and so if you wanted to you could always make this clarification type question but I believe Robert is asking how extensive was your site visit for this this project um what did the site visit reveal I I don't know it's it's a little bit unclear to me especially because they're asking for a brief technical approach to this project I mean you're not going to provide a technical approach for three four or five different past performances um you'd probably provide a technical approach to um this bid that you're looking to bid on so this is actually a little a little sloppy if you ask me it should be in a separate document and it should be a a technical type question it shouldn't be rolled into pass performance and if they are asking this about your pass performance that's weird and I would want to get confirmation from Robert on that because all of a sudden I would be confused um but really what this is showcasing is this is just something a Contracting officer wrote up doesn't necessarily make sense to us makees sense to him and you need to ask questions you you need to stand your ground if this is something you're going to bid don't be afraid to to reach out I guess is my message to you because uh they may not know how this is coming across and they can correct it now again this is due today so it's a little bit too late but um the message from this would be yeah this is definitely confusing that it's wrapped up with this and I've I've never seen somebody ask something like this about your previous projects a technical approach for each of the different projects I mean give me a break like that's that's pretty much unheard of so this has been uh pretty interesting for this attachment Jeff asks let me see I've got a chat here justess said uh on pass performance is it okay use my contractor past because my company is so new um yeah Jeff because you are more than likely the owner of your company um you are bringing that as previous personal past performance um and that goes along with whatever customers you you worked for because if you think about it in terms of a resume a resume also includes you know all the places you worked at previously so when it comes to past performance you know you're if you were lead on the job or it was your project you you can carry that since you are the the business owner um it's a little bit tougher to get away with something like that if you're not the owner of the business but it's your experience that you're bringing to the business so um I have seen you know it might be a little bit you know on the fence a little bit but uh I've seen it done uh I've done it I've seen other small business owners do it without any issues um I've never seen any like fall back out of something like that it's just an evaluation factor which is important but um it's not like you're you're not being you're not being honest you know and if and if you feel a certain way about it you can be more transparent about it was for your previous company but I would just I would just lead with it in terms of the customer and the dollar value and the work that was done basically giving them the information that they're asking for because you know that it's it's true and it's correct you don't necessarily have to bring up something that they're not asking for but if you are feeling guilty or something about it you could take that route but I don't really see anybody uh having issues you know with that because it is still past performance on the personal side of the thing that's a good question so um yeah let's when do I put uh Jeff also says when do I put it on the sheet I put both so when I do put it on the sheet I put both companies no don't put both companies that would be very confusing for them I would make it all under your company because you are the owner of this company so just keep it simple and that's what I was trying to say before if people find it confusing or whatever it's it's personal past performance it's performance that you're bringing from your your previous personal professional working career um and that's more what personal past performance is um again like if you were to look at a resume or something it shows but but I understand why you're asking and maybe you asked that because of what I said but just keep it to this this company so um you should be you should be fine with that and again if they have questions about it they'll ask you and you can you can talk more about it right um basically the point being if you needed to have government pass performance to Winn a contract with the government nobody would win a contract with the government because it's the whole Chicken and the Egg thing you've got to start with something and that's where you get started with commercial and personal past performance so that's the point that I'm coming from with that good question so let me go back to where we left off then I think we're we're still doing good on the chat here and keep things uh going at a good Pace come back to sharing my screen okay so that was a little that was a little weird that that we that we saw where we left off with those uh evaluation type questions the past perance table made perfect sense to me but the uh those questions were they were they seemed misplaced so now let's look at attachment two the wage determination I said I would get back to that so they have that a lovely copy and paste job or something in here hopefully you guys can see this so a wage determination is essentially uh a guide a wage determination is something that you need to abide by it's basically the department of of Labor um but it's it's the you can see here US Department of Labor but it's for the service contract act so I guess I need to show you something else also you go to beta.sam.gov you can find wage determinations without having to rely on them to be in a solicitation if you go to wage determinations you have two options Davis bacon so this would give you something similar for the construction field service contract Act is kind of everything else within Professional Services and that's why we're seeing service contract act um in this example that we're looking at service contract act wage determination this is by by County so if you wanted to find your own you could you you know type in Alabama and whatever County you wanted to look at I'm in Baldwin now um and it gives you the most updated wage determination and you can see this looks exactly like what they're giving us here except on mine the numbers are going to be different because this changes a lot based by whatever County and state that you're in um they calculate the cost of living every year every few times throughout the year and so um the different areas have different numbers so uh that's a little bit of a background into a wage determination and what this does is it's the Department of Labor's way of governing almost think of it like a union that you are paying contractors a minimum amount so when you're looking at using something like this when you're looking at a RFP or RFQ solicitation that's giving you a a service contract act document what it's saying is you need to select an occupation code one of these literally the code for whatever it is you're proposing to to bid on so your pricing should be backed up from something like this and it's why it's a little bit difficult for me to talk about pricing because it's it's really really gets into details because somebody bidding on the same procurement could use a different occupation code than you and that would make them cheaper but the onus is on them to be able to actually find somebody or to perform the work at whatever this price is right here and this price is the uh the base pay so right now we're looking at individual labor categories and this would be uh the base pay this would not be the amount you build the government this is the minimum amount that the employee gets paid just to be clear so what you do is you kind of play this hunting game and you try and find something that is close as close a match as you can find for whatever it is you're bidding on sometimes it's not in here at all and you just have to like find something that's close to the rate um because what can happen is you know if you get audited by the Department of Labor or you get a knock on the door and they look at your contracts they're going to say okay well what labor categories are you using um what occupation codes are you using and you have to be able to point to this okay if you don't use this I mean hopefully you're you're paying the person enough to cover your bases because the do will come in here and they'll say you should be using this this code so if I look for snow I do a control find for snow it's not in here if I look for you know Landscaping um usually something like that would be in here let me check and make sure my control find is working that's it's working so we would have to find something for snow plowing that would be a fit so essentially I'm just I'm opening you up to this game that we have to play as contractors when we have to use this this is the game that we have to play so we have to go and find what would be you know so you've got like labor Grounds Maintenance that might not be far off right that might be something that's close if you couldn't find something else I'll just spend another second to see I really thought there was something in here for uh Landscaping maybe they're just using different words for it laundry machine tools mechanics air crew um let me see general maintenance worker might also be a fit you as a you as a expert in your field you kind of have an idea or you should on what you would be looking to pay somebody anyways so you're taking this into account and also looking at these different prices you know so the last one we looked at was like $16 if you need to pay more you know um then you have this $20 option for for this one that might be close so this is kind of the game that we have to play technical occupations I know there's some like Janitorial in here too but that's probably not going to be a fit at all so um I don't want to spend too much time on this but I just wanted to open you to this this concept ground support equipment worker probably yeah $30 definitely not so yeah I just wanted to open you to this and you know you could spend more time looking at this for example but that's what you would have to do and that's why they're giving you that wage termination because that's what they that's what they want you to do making sure we're still good in the chat here it's got to be a better way without me having to switch screens like that um so yeah that's you there's more we can go into in the wage determination there's a lot more important stuff in there but I'm not going to go into that right now so we've looked at the technical evaluation the wage determination statement of work and then it looks like we pretty much went through everything so this is a coming back to the original RFP there is not a lot to this as they've told us they want passive formats in price and those are the two things that are very clear to me and should be clear to you to respond for the pricing on this you would complete these they didn't give us a pricing worksheet and they didn't give us anything else so they want one job um the unit price and the whole thing and they want that for each of the four sites and then they want you to extend that out over four option years so you literally put your price in these boxes here and then for your past performance you're going to have to fill out that document that they gave us where is it did I already close it it's a word doc you have to fill this out for your past performance or like they said you can provide it in any format but they're giving you this table so you can put your pass forance in this table the only thing I have a question on is is these ABC are these technical questions or are these past performance questions that's my number one uh thing that's kind of holding me up but that is I mean this is very easy this is definitely more like a an RFQ instead of an RFP you it should be clear to you that there's not some big proposal required um it's more than just the price because they are looking for past performance but um it's a lot closer to what I'd call RF RFQ request for quote then an RFP um the response is really not not terribly bad so let me stop sharing my screen now you should be able to see me guys so that was an example of one snowplow bid it actually took us a little bit longer to to get through that because it's almost already been an hour with you awesome people um if you have any questions about that let me know I'm going to take a drink here if you're having a particular problem um you've got me I'll probably go for another 10 minutes or so because I want to try and keep this to an hour um so I guess we won't do multiple bids today just because and if we don't have any questions maybe I'll just go through one more really quickly but uh that was that was a snow plowing bid and I want you to know that if you do those things price and pass performance complete the SF 1449 form you could win it you know and if this is the business you're in snow plowing snow removal there shouldn't be a whole lot holding you back from something like this it's it's the season it's the time of year for those type of procurements a lot of them start back in October and November but as you can see very much in December they're still procuring for for it and this is like Tahoe Cal California so if that's an area that you could reach um you know you you could do it and my whole point is not to be so fixated on okay well this is snow plowing no this is like 50% of it okay a lot of them are price only or pass performance in price or a a reasonable technical approach with pass performance in price you can you can do that you can do all of those um it's not really as as bad as it seems so my mission for this year ahead is really to bridge the gap whatever whatever things are coming up for you guys that are making it difficult or stopping you from going after government contract agencies uh to win contracts um I want to break those walls down for you to know that you know you you can do it and I'm trying to lead by example here and kind of walk you through these things and show you you can do it I know that you have things holding you back I know you have questions I know you have fear I know you're unsure about certain things so let's let's break through that so you can you can do it when you've seen it happen so much as as I've seen it from me myself personally and other small business owners Do It um it's just kind of like tying your shoes it's just a matter of putting the one string over the other and tying it in the right way and you end up with you know your shoes being tied it's the same thing but when you're on the other side of it it's very overwhelming and intimidating and it just it doesn't have to be that way so let me know what your blog are what you're and if you're watching this on replay uh also let me know in in the chat um type in team replay if you're watching this in the future so that I know and can send some love out to you and out into the future that way also but uh yeah and then the wage termination if you didn't know we just walked to the wage determination and uh it's something that you'll see a lot so it's important that you get to practicing with it and get familiar and comfortable with it so that um you're using it properly um I hope you're liking the the new stream I hope hope you like the the new technology I hope things look clear for you I hope the audio is is strong and hopefully now the the screen sharing is in check and I can do some stuff that's different than what I've been able to do before um and yeah we'll be doing a few more of these throughout the week that is my goal that is my intention I'll do something different than snow plowing like I said I want to keep it one thing per day so that anybody who's watching this on replay they know what they're getting into instead of going through a whole bunch of different things so um the chat everything seems to be uh caught up Antoine uh says looks nice thank you very much um appreciate it and yeah this is the new office if you didn't catch I just moved to a new office earlier this month so I've been getting settled and caught up and getting all things into play to have a really really awesome 2021 one I said it uh earlier this month but I really wanted 10 I hate the term 10x um because of what It's associated with but I really want to do a 10 times my presence of what I did in 2020 I really want to show up 10 times more for you all in 2021 and have you know 10 times the impact you know hopefully have 10 times the number of you know small business owners winning contracts through our group and our community that's really what my my aim is and uh you know having this office and the setup um and having a much clearer vision going into this year I'm just I'm so excited about it and and I'm happy to uh you know kind of be on this journey with you guys and help you in your journey we're we're going through new things together so um I will quickly go through one more snow plowing that way we can say we went through two of them um I'm go through it much faster though less explanation kind of just pull out key information and maybe you can get to see you know how I do it a little bit faster um I like to teach I like to break things down but um I guess there's a time and place for everything so let me come back to sharing my screen going to close out what we had close all these out and we find oursel back here at beta.sam I'm going to keep our same search filters that we had and actually I should be able to do this you should still be able to see me now as I'm I'm looking at this so at least we can uh still see each other and look at this and then when we get into the documents I'll fully share my screen I think that's where we went where we went wrong with uh the first time around so this is the first one we looked at let's look at this one Whitman Air Force Base snow hauling so this is for the Air Force haven't looked at this previously at all so this is right off the cuff um this is due December 14th so this is already passed but this is for learning purposes anyways this is a small business set aside anybody can respond uh whitean Air Force Base Missouri is the place of performance so it snows in Missouri of course it does they're telling us the contractor shall provide all equipment supervision labor um and transportation to performed the removal of bulk plowed snow by dump truck for the base civil engineer At Whitman Air Force Base Missouri the snow will come from uh 7 million 7 and a half million square feet of ramp space from the flight line I mean it's the Air Force so go figure and we have a lot of a lot of different attachments here excuse me Jared Middleton and Tammy Clipper look like uh point of contact and Contracting so and I'm just checking the chat here guys making sure you're still good with me um yeah believe it or not I am quickly going to go through these attachments there's more than I thought there would be four five 6 7 8 9 10 11 so let's quickly do it so this is a couple pages this is a combined synopsis for snow hauling Services whitean Air Force Base we know that evaluation the government's evaluation of this acquisition will be on perform performance price tradeoff the evaluation factors for this requirement is response time as in local to the base how quickly can you respond um equipment they want to know what equipment you have probably and past performance government reserves the right to refrain from awarding any offer that is determined to have offered pricing that is not considered fair or reasonable so the pricing could be um really high or really low the quote shall consist of the following company letter identifying okay your basic business information point of contact K and duns code da da da completed bid schedule that's probably going to be pricing we're going to look at that in a second um she'll provide at least two and no more than five references so two to five past performances got to be registered in Sam no site visit will be conducted uh email questions no later than December 7th which is already passed okay and this is some boilerplate stuff they're telling us the attachments and that's it all right cool on to the next bid schedule so this is one page they want your POC um this is your pricing CL snow hauling um quantity one load so they want to know snow hauling service throughout webman Air Force Base dated 3 November one January okay so this this is one base year and uh four option years again and they want to know what does it cost to haul one load of snow um so they're saying quantity one and then what is the price that way they can kind of do their estimate because what they said there's 7 and a half million square feet from the uh the flight line that has to be removed so that is you know what what they want to know this is just taking snow so if you can just get a dump truck or multiple dump trucks and you're local um they want to know that it's decent equipment and that you've done something like this in the past um you could have a chance at bidding on this and and winning it so that's what they're telling us we've got some Clauses here and you could always these are or far far Clauses you could always look these up they also have payment instructions for wide area workflow this is what's called WF that's how you get paid billing and invoicing they might have reps inserts doesn't look like it so more definitions and clauses so if you ever want to uh look up a clause more than what it says here actually am I sharing my screen damn it let me share my actually I'm not supposed to swear on YouTube sorry guys I wasn't fully sharing my screen for you you could take this Clause is what I'm saying and you could you could punch that into Google you don't know what it means and like law. Cornell is really good they offer really good interpretations um and you could do that for any of these other times the the name and this description the title is enough for you and you don't have to look into it but I don't talk a whole lot about it because I don't I'm not your lawyer and I'm not a lawyer and I don't want to tell you how to interpret far Clauses but a lot of them are are you know pretty harmless uh but it's always good to check them out there are some that are um more significant than others I will say but uh yeah you know so that's kind of what's going on with this let's come back we've got this WD which is going to be a wage determination I'm guessing yep so another wage determination and this is for now it's for the Missouri counties of Cooper Henry Howard Johnson uh peti and sine so I'm not going to go into W determinations again but they have that they have a reference list so another it's crazy these these tables are so so welld designed right um I'm guessing this is for your past performance they're calling it references but this is what they want they want the business or organization the contact info and uh comments and it says if it's a federal Contra if it's a federal contract um included contract number basically alluding to the point that it doesn't have to be a federal contract just another way of saying that it can be um personal or something from the commercial space uh like we talked about earlier um with Jeff so that's that we have the PWS statement of work performance of work statement snow hauling services this looks like it's pretty lengthy and sought out 13 pages long not going to spend a whole lot of time here quite honestly they do have a map they're saying says there's a map but I don't see says that there's a map right here but uh this would be more details like we talked about the PWS statement of work scope um on the requirement holidays a lot of the same stuff place and performance of services that when it comes down to actually coming together with a price and you need some of those details to help you price it you will likely find them here and then also just as importantly um details for actually performing on the work that's where you're going to find uh that information like for example they're showing here the dump truck shall be full at each loading so yeah like you can't only fill up the truck halfway and then build them for an entire load that's kind of what they're talking about the contractor shall remove 100% of the snow uh from the truck bed for each dump also saying the same thing you also have to fully empty it you have to fully empty it and fully fill it up each time um otherwise the government's going to be getting like only 90% or 95% of a load inside of 100 and after a lot of loads that could end up to be a lot of money that the government's uh paying you that they're really not getting service for so type of details like that they have in here but um not really too interested just yet in anything else in that document contractor security requirements handbook I'm not reading this right now if you were to perform on this you would want to definitely pay attention to something like this it's basically telling you how you need to be when you're on the base um contractors guidance I don't know what this is let's see two pages attached the table complete the attached table for all requested individuals to gain access yep so whoever's coming on the base the the truck drivers or you or a program manager um this is information that they want to have on hand so that if something happens they have the details and the information for whoever is operating from your company that's why they're saying ABC company here um so this is a bit of a base access and background check place to gather information making sure you guys are still good in the chat here um Antoine says yes I can see your screen you're good I swear like a sailor too yeah for sure I I tried I actually I swear quite a bit in my personal life but um I try and keep a PG on here for YouTube this is really strange it says I've only been live for seven minutes and 9 seconds in counting um kind of weird hopefully didn't like cut out and restart back seven minutes ago I don't know um but looks like we're we're still doing good here in the chat guys um come back to sharing my screen so uh okay where we left off was PWS I guess they're calling it a PWS this does not look like a PWS we kind of already went through that as I said PWS statement of work really one and the same they're calling this a base template the following individuals from ABC company require entry to whitean Air Force Base okay so this is going to be the document that captures that information um from the document that we were just looking at previously it looks like these go hand inand because they're looking looking for SSN and driver's license and your citizenship and all that type of good stuff citizenship comes up all the time I get a lot of questions for citizenship um do I have to be a citizen can I do this from another country it's hard for me to answer that because um there's certain possibilities that you can but it's really about the details and the certain uh you know ways and certain contracts require different things and um I can tell you that they're not letting somebody who who not a citizen on the base uh and that's really what they're looking for with something like this or if you don't have a background um check that passes you're also not getting on a base so those are the type of answers I have for you but the more more detailed type answers it really depends and I would refer you to the federal service desk if you just type in Google the federal service desk you can talk to somebody on the phone they're behind the scenes with beta.sam and all the other uh contractor type websites like that and a lot of folks who are registering a business getting into Government Contracting that has those type of questions the federal service desk is there to they're not there to answer those type of questions but they can be very helpful um I just went on that tangent because I saw US citizenship over here but again this document would go hand inand with the previous docume
