Why are some mad at Trump for banning immigration from 7 countries for 90 days, but not at Obama for delaying Iraqi immigration
Ah, yes, the perpetrators of the deadly Bowling Green Massacre. How many people died at that tragic event? Ugh. It’s uncountable. You can donate to the Bowling Green Massacre Fund here. Please do; the survivors need your support.Anyway, it turned out that some Iraqi refugees weren’t exactly innocent when they were in Iraq (they didn’t actually commit any crimes in the US). They had fought on the side of the insurgency. When Obama’s administration found out, it tightened vetting procedures for Iraqi refugees. This meant that it took longer for them to be cleared to come into the US, but once they *were* cleared, they were cleared. Nobody’s brown mother or baby was locked in a holding cell.Trump’s little pen diarrhea of an order was meant to detain US permanent residents and prevent them from getting into the country, as well as handcuff 5-year-old girls and tear apart families. It wasn’t a reaction to some actionable event. People who already were safe to come into the US, including people who had been living here for many years and have homes and have been paying taxes here, were suddenly forced into holding cells or deported, not because they committed crimes but because Señor Trumpo felt like people weren’t paying enough attention to him that minute. Now, if there were a real security risk from those seven countries (but not from, say, Saudi Arabia, which is where the 9/11 terrorists were from), then a reasonable thing to do would have been to take a stricter approach to issuing new visas from those countries. Would I do that? No, I think it’s a bad idea. But I don’t have America’s intelligence services giving me briefings, so who knows, maybe it’s necessary. But that’s not what Mr. Insecure did. He purposefully destroyed the lives and families of thousands of people by revoking their current permission to enter the US. The US said, “welcome, you are invited to our beautiful country”, and when they showed up, Trump said, “ha ha ha, go fuck yourself, I hope your 4-month-old daughter didn’t need a life-saving heart operation! Oh, she did? Ha ha ha, your little terror baby’s gonna die then! Ha ha ha! Treasure your time together in this holding cell without access to lawyers, idiot brown person! Ha ha! Sad!”I mean, he probably didn’t say that literally (since it’s more than 140 characters). But he certainly doesn’t care about the people whose lives he tore apart, the students who can’t start their spring semesters, the families who can’t be together. *His* family is fine. Who cares about yours? Or anybody else’s?Meanwhile, Obama’s Iraqi refugee slowdown didn’t actually do this to anybody, because Obama’s not actually a complete idiot.

What will the Obama administration honchos do when President Trump declassifies the authorizing documents for the FISA warrant?
Its amazing how much Trump supporters care about him even though Trump doesn’t give a rip about them. The court was set up to either approve or deny warrants requested by the United States government for surveillance of foreign spies inside of the United States. That warrant requests and the intelligence gathering is generally done by federal law enforcement agencies or U.S. intelligence agencies. The authorization allows for wiretapping a "foreign power or an agent of a foreign power" (which could include American citizens) suspected to be engaged in espionage or terrorism. Methods used in an investigation include electronic surveillance, physical searches and other actions. Generally, the attorney general signs the warrant requests. This means that the court is a safe guard to protect this country from enemy spies. Trump supporters would like to see it eliminated because they think that it is a tool to bring down Trump. With that in mind, how patriotic are they if they are willing to sacrifice the safety of our country over a man who main goal is to loot the government and taxpayers for all that they are worth before leaving office. FYI there are no Obama administration honchos, they left almost 2 years ago with Obama. Please read a book about government.Trump is dead set on undoing everything Obama did whether it hurts America or not but he won’t keep his other promises.remember this:As a candidate, Trump promised to raise taxes on the rich; as president, he promised tax changes that at a minimum wouldn’t benefit the rich. ha ha!Trump promised to break up Americas largest banks by reinstating old Glass-Steagall regulations that prevented financial conglomerates from operating in multiple lines of business. You would think that he would follow through since 72 banks refused to give him a loan after he went bankrupt.Trump promised price controls on prescription drugs.Trump promised to take oil from Iraq to reduce the financial burden of US military policy.Trump promised many times that he would release his tax returns and promised to put his wealth into a blind trust. Yeah, no one can see it! But his supporters trust him when he said he did it.Trump vowed rollback of climate change regulations but said he was committed to upholding clean air and clean water goal. Ask Michael Moore and the residents of Flint, Mich. how is that going.Trump promised a $1 trillion infrastructure package. Where? In RussiaHe promised Mexico will pay for the wall. lol, ask his base for that update. If you haven't read about these things it may be because his tax reform loving media owning donors refused to report it. There is much more but I haven't the time to list them. You can easily see his broken promises by collecting his contradicting tweets like I did or google.

Should armed guards be kept in schools like some advocates want to protect the kids from active shooters?
There are a number of reasons armed guards make sense in schools. And if you lived in a major metro area, it is nothing unusual…Living and growing up in Detroit, even in the 80’s and 90’s, our public schools had metal detectors, police officers in the halls, etc.Generally speaking, school shootings don’t take place in terrible inner cities, where gang violence and school violence is a very real threat. At least a portion of that reason has to be due to the fact that school shooters are not choosing to attack “hard” targets. They are choosing soft targets, where they can create the most damage with the least possible retaliation. You may be a bad ass if you are the only person with a gun, but if you walk in to a police precinct and pull an AR 15, odds are not in your favor that you will rack up a noteworthy, hence NEWSWORTHY kill count. We protect banks with armed guards. We protect Museums with armed guards. Most major colleges have their own campus police (who are now better trained and equipped after Virginia Tech and NIU, et al shootings). Why wouldn’t we have armed guards at schools? The youth are the greatest treasure we have. Why wouldn’t we have fortified entrances and restriction of presence on school grounds? Many schools, metro, suburban, and rural, already have so much of this in place. They don’t have school shooter issues. And EVERY SINGLE YEAR, would be school shooters are deterred, apprehended, or killed before they can even put the plan into action by law enforcement and armed personnel. But preventing tragedies yields no victims. A lack of victims means no emotional appeals, no activism, no political agendas. In short, it doesn’t get coverage, or make headlines.Look up “Dixon Il shooter stopped by officer”. You probably didn’t hear about this one. There are countless other examples. The intense irony of the situation is that when a tragedy such as that occurs, 100% of the time, it is magnified by a lack of an appropriate armed response, and the survivors and family members of victims have no one else to blame. When a shooting is stopped by “a good man with a gun” it does not generate a conversation about arming MORE law abiding citizens, but when the shooter is unchecked, there is a ground swell of support to disarm the law abiding.

I have planned a trip to Paris in December. Having read such negative feedback online, I'm almost scared to visit. Is this the r
Dear anonymous, I will now act as if you weren’t a Russian/Syrian/Chinese/Trumpist troll.Scams in Paris are aimed at simple minds. As I am sure you are not one, you should be alright. Just behave as you would in Moscow, Damas, Beijing or New York.Pickpockets are frequent in some places in Paris, as in any big city from your own country. Avoid the groups of children who wave documents for you to sign. If you are in the subway (le métro), pay attention to the announcements made in French, German, English, Spanish and sometimes Chinese : they inform if pickpockets have been spotted on the line you are riding. Don’t flash your money, even if you have a lot of it and don’t know where to hide it. If you hold a bag or a purse, don’t let it on your back ; have your hand on it.There are plenty of armed police officers in the streets, particularly around the touristic places. There are also a lot of military deployed on those spots. Don’t be afraid, the grumpy parisians don’t carry arms. There are many places in the world less safe than Paris, and some are way more expensive.Parisians are not walk-on actors. They are actual people commuting from home to work and back. It takes a long time, and they can’t afford to get halted by packs of tourists asking for a photo. If you need directions, ask politely (in French first if possible) to somebody who isn’t obviously hurrying or talking to someone. Also, the people working in any bar, restaurant, museum or whatever place are here to work. Being efficient and competent is why they are paid, being your bitch-rather not. The more polite and respectful you will be, the better you will be served. If you have to deal with administrative bureaucracy, I apologize. Sorry. Now, I’ve met the customs in Moscow, I spent some times with the Immigration guys in NYC, those people know the best ways to make you wonder why you had the idea to come here…Now, my dear anonymous and foreign friend, don’t fear and come bravely spending your aboundant wealth in our avid pockets.Sincerely yours,Any French guy

What shocked you today as an Indian?
What shocked you today as an Indian?I was browsing through some certain posts in my facebook and suddenly I saw this post regarding UP.This happened just 3 days after she was elected.Yadav was the first woman to be the president of UP Bar Council, and was elected just two days ago on Monday.A news report says :Yadav was shot thrice, allegedly by another lawyer named Manish Sharma, in the court premises, and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.Sharma, who also shot himself, has been admitted to hospital and is in a critical condition.Sadly, she was attending a welcome ceremony and this happened.I really don’t know what is happening because I also read a news in the morning :The victim has been identified as one Amit Sharma, who works with a news channel. Sharma had gone to Dhimanpura on Tuesday night for covering the derailment of a goods train, when the railway police personnel cornered him. Before he could reason with them, Sharma was mercilessly thrashed, dragged to a police chowki.Made to drink Urine? Human urine? What the hell !And there was also this guy who was arrested in UP for expressing his freedom of speech. And this :Is this misuse of power? NO to most people right.Fine :Hope you remember this :A girl posted a meme on mamtha and she was arrested. The whole social media went on asking “Where is the freedom of speech”The hypocrisy is that when someone says something about a ruling party and gets arrested everyone will make a post and share their views on the journalist because he has trolled a C.M right? But the whole “nationalists” will condemn Mamtha if she does anything to a girl who made defamatory post. And there was a person who posted a comment in Quora that : “The whole “Leftist” media went on slamming Yogi for his comments on muslims and justified the act of Yogi. I just don’t understand if you want views and upvotes don’t write something biased.Justifying the act : Really?(There are a lot of* - my bad typo)Agreed that media is behaving worse these days but what are these? So is this the media freedom ? Another day a Journalist was charged with sedition because he spoke about a party.Do you know what Sedition is ? You are an anti-national.NO ONE CARES ! THEY ONLY CARE IF MAMTHA / RAHUL / SITARAM do unwanted things. While rapists can walk freely.!While people who keep “bombs” can complain of “dust” can walk freelyWhile people who say “Rape is common” can walk freelyThe person who posts fb / twitter comments will get arrested.Worst part is there are people who support this incident.“When you are happy if someone trolls other religion and get offended when someone trolls your religion then you’re nothing but barf”Image source : ScreenshotsThanks for readingKeep smiling.

Can you bring a rifle back from deployment if you capture it?
A soldier in my unit actually did bring back an AK-47 from Iraq. At that time I was part of a medical battalion that had been tapped to deal with casualties whether that came from fighting in Iraq or an additional attack at home. We had a Chemical Company attached to the battalion HQ, along with a mobile public affairs detachment. Presumably this was to assist us with chemical weapons, had they been used, and also to document the event. The battalion HQ did not end up deploying to Iraq, but we had an advanced echelon that deployed to Qatar, Kuwait and finally to Baghdad. When the advanced echelon made their way back home there were pieces of equipment that were missing and folks were very concerned that these things be found. So, there was rummaging through the equipment that had been sent to the Middle East. At some point someone realized that there was a footlocker present that belonged to someone who had not deployed. The name stenciled on the footlocker was apparently that of a dummy that was used to practice emergency carries, move about on litters and so on. The dummy was wearing a uniform with this name. Presumably the uniform belonged to someone originally, but it wasn't anyone that I knew. The name was just, at that point, the moniker of the dummy. So, it was decided that this footlocker should be opened and searched to look for the missing equipment. When the footlocker was opened, there was an AK-47 inside neatly broken down into components and wrapped in brown paper. At this point CID took over. The result from my point of view was that I was marched into a gymnasium and given several sheets of paper stapled together with a single line of text at the top. The lines of text read something like the following:Who are you? Were you assigned to so and so unit at some date in 2003?Did you deploy as part of the advanced party of so and so?Do you have any information about unauthorized weapons being returned to the US? Did you bring any unauthorized weapons into the US?Why should we believe that you did not bring any unauthorized weapons into the US? At that point the RUMINT was that suspicion had fallen on a Nursing Corps officer. Nothing else was ever officially said about the incident and I never saw the Nursing Corps officer again.

As a police officer, what is the kindest thing a suspect ever said to you?
Over the years, there have been several people (suspects, offenders, witnesses, victims, etc.) who have said kind things to me. One that comes to mind is probably the most recent. As a captain, I’m not often out on patrol and I make very few traffic stops. A few weeks ago however, I saw a vehicle traveling the wrong direction in a traffic circle. Given the danger presented, I stopped the motorist and saw that the vehicle was driven by a tiny African American lady of about 65 (I am a not so tiny 55-year-old Caucasian man), and that she was confused and upset by the unfamiliar traffic control device into which she had driven. I helped get her turned around and pulled to the side of the road where we were both safe. Pursuant to Department policy, I asked her for her license, registration and proof of insurance. She paused a moment and then started looking through her purse, center console and glove compartment for the requested documentation. Based on my experience, this suggested to me that she did not have one or more of the documents I had asked her to produce. I asked her if she had a driver’s license and she admitted that her license was suspended. I couldn’t help but notice the tears welling up in her eyes. I had already noticed that her license plate was expired, as was her motor vehicle inspection sticker. I then asked if her automobile was insured, and she told me it was not.In my jurisdiction, unless there are exigent circumstances, a vehicle found to be uninsured is to be towed and impounded. In addition, a motorist found to be driving under suspension may, at the discretion of the officer, be arrested, and should not be permitted to drive away from the traffic stop absent exigent circumstances which mitigate against preventing the motorist from driving any further. The lady had tears streaming down her cheeks, knowing she had a problem. She was wearing a business outfit, so I asked her where she was going, thinking that I might be able to drop her off if time was a problem. She explained that the previous week, she was hired by a local hospital and that day was to be her first at her new job. She explained that she had lost her home and job in August of 2016 when our area suffered through the worst flood to affect the area in modern history. Approximately 80% of the homes and businesses in our area flooded during the event. Many had never flooded before, were not in flood zones and consequently, many families and businesses were left with nothing, following the inundation. This lady was one of those. She understood that she was in trouble, and she understood that despite her good intentions, she was breaking the law. But there was no anger or bitterness. In her face, I saw only resolve and determination. She never once suggested that she deserved a break. She didn’t hint at leniency. She expressed no self-pity and did not seek to shift the blame. While I may not have shown it, I was very impressed with the way she was handling the experience.I told the lady, whom I’ll call Ms. Smith, to have a seat in her car, turn on her air conditioner (it was about 95), and that I would be back with her as quickly as possible. I then returned to my unit and checked her registration and driver’s license. I determined that her license was suspended due to her inability to honor a payment plan with the DMV that she had signNowed in order to resolve the fines assessed to her when her insurance lapsed. She was uninsured; her history showed that over the last several years, her insurance lapsed several times, She always managed to have her insurance reinstated but the administrative fees had built up over time. Her registration had expired two months earlier. However, with a suspended driver’s license, she could not renew her registration or obtain an updated motor vehicle inspection sticker. Clearly, she was in a vicious spiral and putting her in jail or doing anything to cost her the new job would not be helpful.I carefully considered my options, recognizing that my obligation to protect and serve includes keeping people without the mandatory liability insurance off of the road. Her failure to have the required insurance presented a problem for me. Under our law, were she to have an at-fault accident and it was discovered that I had stopped her and failed to take the appropriate action, I could be held responsible. If I towed her car, she would likely lose her new job which was going to pay her enough to get the required insurance, take care of her suspended driver’s license and generally make her life better for the first time in two years. As I sat there considering what to do, I suddenly remembered something. I got out of my unit, walked up to car and looked in the back seat. There, behind the front passenger seat was a rear-facing baby seat, buckled snuggly into place. “I meant to ask you about the baby seat,” I told her. “Oh,” she replied. “That’s for my grand baby,” she told me. “I take her to day care each morning so that my daughter can make it to nursing school on time. This is our only car.” “Do they live with you all the time.” I asked. “Yes, sir! They’re my best friends,” she said with a smile.I thanked her and returned to my unit. I smiled too and thought to myself, “Exigent circumstances! Can’t tow that car if there are exigent circumstances.” I prepared the lady a citation for driving under suspension. I hated to do it, but the only discretion we have in such cases is jail or a misdemeanor summons. I did, however, exercise my discretion and prepared a warning for the expired driver’s license and expired vehicle inspection sticker. I then made a quick phone call before walking back to her car, ticket book in hand. As the little lady waited to hear her fate, I began. “OK, Ms. Smith, here is where we are,” I told her. “I have to issue you a citation for driving under suspension. I have no choice. However, you’re not being arrested, only fined.” She asked me how much the fine would be and I told her that I did not know, but that I had called the Clerk of Court, asked that they let her pay over a period of six months, and that they had agreed. I then handed her the citation and asked her to sign where indicated. She signed and then remembered the other charges. “Is there another ticket,” she asked? “No Ma’am,” I told her. “Apparently, I am out of tickets and don’t have time to go and get some more.” She seemed confused and asked, “I know you have to tow my car, Captain. I was just wondering if there is any way that you can let me get to work first. I can park it around back where nobody will see it and you can tow it from there, if it’s not too much trouble.”“Well, Ms Smith, it looks like your car isn’t going to be towed today. As it turns out, there are exigent circumstances that allow me to let you keep your car. But you have to get insurance within 30 days.” She didn’t understand, so I explained that since there is an infant in their house, since they had only one car, and since that car was the child’s sole means of transportation to day care, such a situation created exigent circumstances which allowed me to decline to tow the car, provided that I had a reasonable belief that the required insurance would be obtained within 30 days. She assured me that they would get the insurance they needed.I wished her good luck and told her to be safe and I turned around to walk back to my unit as the tears started rolling down her cheeks again. Before I could walk away, however, Ms. Smith called out to me, “Captain Sharp!” I turned back to her. “I don’t know if you’re allowed or not, but would it be OK if I gave you a hug?” I told her I would love a hug, and it was the best hug of the day.I’m sorry that it took so long to answer your question, but, “Would it be OK if I gave you a hug?” was one of the kindest things that a suspect ever said to me. Thank you for your question!
