What can be improved or changed for the better at IIT Madras?
Most among us are frustrated because the IITM disappoints us in every possible way. Below list of comments give a better idea of what the "Why are secretaries are like this, Why do the never work for the betterment of Institute?""Why the heck should I pay 88Rs. for this bull shit""Those who take up Secretary position do it only for the certificates which help in Placements. Show me one guy in the institute who would continue in their PoR if they know that they are not going to get certificates.""CCW is more corrupt than UPA sarkar. And the secretaries are like corrupt IAS officers taking their share every time possible. Otherwise why would it so tough for them to provide ache khana. And adding to this they never publish their records.""Mandatory attendance serious bullshit.""It's really immature to for leading institutes like IIT's to take a back step in cross gender communication""In IITM nothing happens through secretaries. Protests are the only way to make changes.""My hostel council is fit for nothing. They pass budgets but never make any improvements in the Hostel."Very recently I happened to have a brief chat with s0me of our Professors and what I found out was really astounding . Given below are some of the concerns they haveCross-Gender Communication-One professor said "I had a cousin, it was during 70'sDuring her college days she was into drugs unfortunately the college administration found out about this and reported the very same to his father. His father replied saying that his daughter is mature enough to take care of herself. But how many of your batch mates parents would do the same?? Do you know that there has been an incident of abortion in one your B.Tech batch mates. And the parent is frustrated with the Dean and the Warden. Could they have said the that she is major and she should look after herself ? Is the society ready for such a reply? I don't think so. Imagine a situation wherein he said the your girl the word spread out. How may of your friends wouldn't call her a names??These kind of incidents are going to make a serious impact on female residential educaiton. After all education is the prime responsibility here. We are only trying to prevent Females from entering the Mens Hostel but we are never against their communication. Please don't think this as one of many moves that we are making to shut off cross gender communication. "Even 1000 similar explanations should can't be a reason to shut off the cross gender communication. But who should make the first move in promoting the cross gender communication in India. If the Education Institutes make the first move then it may cause serious damage to the institute especially with bullshit media which want to sensationalise everything.Messing: Only the CCW, Dost and Chariman(MMCC) are the ones working for their betterment. No other professor are able to find time. to offer help in this regard.Plagiarism in assignments and Examinations Professors :"None of the Students are ready to reveal the names of the culprits in anonymity. How can you expect us take an action. We have made sure that there enough invigilators during the exams. Most departments give seatings in alternate benches. I think this the maximum we can do.If you ask me about the assignments most Universities have culture on non plagiarism. We should make our student also develop the same habit."Attendance:"Almost 60% of my colleagues are against the idea of compulsory attendance. As we all are well know very well, most of these professors don't take attendance in classes. But what's unfortunate is to see that these classes usually have turnout of 20-30%. Of course there are some exceptions. How should one tackle this? Incase we conduct class tests or assignment sessions students are ready to copy."Interest in Engineering-Professors:"Most Students say that they are not interested in Engineering and JEE has seriously flailed in doing the job. All the old 5 IIT's have decided to not allot any branch before the end of first yearStudent:"Why didn't it happen?"Professor:"As expected the new IIT's are not ready for such a thing since in those other IIT's Computer Science is the only branch that's able to attract top rankers of JEE."Course Work-Professor:"We are not very far away from losing our tie-up's with many Universities worldwide with regard to Campus Exchange programmes. They are already reporting that the courses here not that intensive and therefore they can't have a credit transfer for courses thought here. As many of us know, it's very much impossible for a student from Stanford to pass in all the courses even if one course is taken over and above the prescribed curriculum because he has no time. This should explain the dilution of the courses that we have here " are making to shut off cross gender communication. Student: "Why don't we have similar curriculum here?"Professor:"It's plainly due to professors politics. We should some mandatory course and every course and every Professor will say that his course is vital and it should be mandatory. Some specialisations are falling to admit students since they are introduced for satisfying some professors."My Opinion about Professors:"As matter of fact a most Deans work for an average of 8 hours only in their Dean's Office. In addition to that they have classes, pressure and family. Most people don't take up a position like Dean(or)Director at the age of 50 to go ahead in life but they want to do something for the institute and they do as much as they can. But the changes are gradual and not every attempt would succeed but they are happening. And there are very few other Professors apart from Director and the Deans. They are short of hands. "My opinion about most of the answers for this Question:What amazes me the most is the my institute students pathetic comments are since most of you expressed your grievances without any understanding of Legislative System. They look vey lame and very similar to child asking his father for helicopter as his birthday gift. I wished that my institute students are more mature than this. Communication gap between the administration and the Students:I understand that the key reason for you not attempting to discuss about solutions but rather kept increasing the wish list is lack of information. Most of us have pretty much no idea about what is happening in the institute. This communication gap is because most of us don't make use of the forums. Most of don't read emails, don't go to SAC meetings.The one place that the institute was successful is that it created a solid system that can make changes happen in the institute and make sure that students voice is heard."If SAC meetings are getting 5% of the Attendance of the protests and hunger strikes, Is there any difference between a sensationalising media and IIT students?"The change that I wish to see in the institute is to 60% of the Institute attending the SAC meetings.

What is the best LMS from instructional designers point of view?
I'd like to preface my answer by saying that first and foremost, a good LMS MUST be learner-centric. Most enterprise Learning Management Systems I've experienced have been so anti-learner that my pessimism towards Learning Management Systems have increased greatly over the years.Since this question is centered around the instructional designer, I will focus on that perspective. Before I move on, I want to briefly discuss my own definition of an instructional designer since many organizations have different expectations of what an instructional designer does.My definition: An instructional designer designs learning experiences that solves learning problems and drives a positive change in learner behavior and performance.Certain misconceptions pigeonhole roles of instructional designers, resulting in instructional designers only doing certain tasks. These tasks should be part of an instructional designer's toolbox, but their role and value should be much larger. These misconceptions include:Writing storyboards/scripts for elearningProducing videoDeveloping elearing using rapid development tools like Articulate or CaptivateCreating PowerPoint presentationsWith that out of the way, I'd like to guess that the best LMS from an instructional designer's point of view does not yet exist. Although we're getting closer, especially with strides made with Experience API, most Learning Management Systems I've used still uses an outdated paradigm of organizational learning (i.e. SCORM/AICC/Learning Object/Content-focused learning). Learning should be about people and not technology or content.A good Learning Management System from an instructional designer's perspective should possess a few elements:Tracking of Learner Behavior - If the goal is to improve behavior or performance, it's critical to know how our learning experience is affecting our learners both inside and outside of a learning event.Providing Feedback - Providing and receiving feedback is key to a learner's development. This is actually the spark that creates the "Ah-Ha" moments that makes learning effective. I'm not talking about canned feedback. Learners need real feedback from real peers and experts in order to reinforce productive behaviors or correct mistakes.Applying Learning - Learning takes practice. Lots of it. We need ways to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes. We need ways to apply what we learned in real world context with real world consequences and benefits.While most Learning Management Systems don't address all if any of those three points, I've seen smaller LMS companies attempt to get there. Hopefully one day an organization can apply Experience API the right way to create a paradigm shift in learning management so that the general expectation of a Learning Management System is no longer: upload content, track completion, and report completion.

Is it reasonable for some states and political leaders to continue to deny global warming while the Intergovernmental Panel on C
Yes - it is indeed reasonable for states and political leaders to deny “global warming”, regardless of what lying reports some UN agency or alarmist ‘scientists’ publish. “Man-made Global Warming” is the largest fraud ever forced on humanity. CO2 is NOT a pollutant, and it does NOT control global climate.Why I’m Skeptical of ‘Man Made’ Global WarmingWhen I see that ‘climate scientists’ have been lying to me, cooking the data, hiding and cherry picking data, and issue statements admitting they have an agenda which is NOT about the environment, I tend to discount ANYTHING they claim in the future, and only believe what I can verify through independent sources.- - - - - - - - - - - -Why would the “Mission Statement” for the UN IPCC say - “The roll of the IPCC is to assess - - - the scientific basis of risk of human-induced climate change?”Why not assess ALL causes of climate change?- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -In the 1995 2nd Assessment Report of the UN IPCC the scientists included these three statements in the draft:1. “None of the studies cited above has shown clear evidence that we can attribute the observed (climate) changes to the specific cause of increases in greenhouse gases.”2. “No study to date has positively attributed all or part (of observed climate change) to anthropogenic (i.e. man-made) causes.”3. “Any claims of positive detection of signNow climate change are likely to remain controversial until uncertainties in the natural variability of the climate system are reduced.”IPCC politicians wrote the final report and the “Summary”. The rules force the ‘scientists’ to change their reports to match the politicians’ final ‘Summary’. Those three statements by ‘scientists’ above were replaced with this:“The balance of evidence suggests a discernable human influence on global climate.”Dr. Madhav Khandekar, a retired Environment Canada and UN IPCC Scientist and ‘expert reviewer for the 2007 IPCC documents - In an August 13, 2007 letter, he lashed out at those who “seem to naively believe that the climate change science espoused in the [UN’s] Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) documents represents ‘scientific consensus’.” He stated: “Nothing could be further than the truth! As one of the invited expert reviewers for the 2007 IPCC documents, I have pointed out the flawed review process used by the IPCC scientists in one of my letters. I have also pointed out in my letter that an increasing number of scientists are now questioning the hypothesis of Greenhouse gas induced warming of the earth’s surface and suggesting a stronger impact of solar variability and large-scale atmospheric circulation patterns on the observed temperature increase than previously believed. - Unfortunately, the IPCC climate change documents do not provide an objective assessment of the earth’s temperature trends and associated climate change,” Khandekar concluded. Excerpt from US Senate ReportDr. Philip Lloyd, a South African Nuclear Physicist, Chemical Engineer, and a UN IPCC co-coordinating lead author who has authored over 150 refereed publications. “I have found examples of a Summary saying precisely the opposite of what the scientists said.” Testimony before the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) committeeHal Doiron, a 16-year NASA veteran. “The ‘propaganda’ underpinning climate alarmism is ‘causing tremendous political bottlenecks’ that prevent government officials from ‘doing the right thing’ on energy.”“At NASA, we have a policy: You can’t make a design decision on a spacecraft or rocket that is not validated,” he said. “You don’t make critical decisions based on ‘garbage in, garbage out.’ Yet our government has been doing that with respect to climate alarm, because too many academics in universities are writing papers, drawing conclusions from models that don’t agree with physical data.”Andrei Kapitsa, a Russian geographer and Antarctic ice core researcher: “The Kyoto theorists have put the cart before the horse. It is global warming that triggers higher levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, not the other way round…A large number of critical documents submitted at the 1995 U.N. conference in Madrid vanished without a trace. As a result, the discussion was one-sided and heavily biased, and the U.N. declared global warming to be a scientific fact.”SO - If ‘man-made climate change’ is NOT a hoax, why would the scientists at NASA and NOAA keep going back to historical records and CHANGING them to ‘fit’ their ‘theory’??It’s because they have an AGENDA. It is not just me saying so - THEY say it.If you haven’t seen these quotes from the “leaders” of the ‘global warming’ alarmists, one-world government tyrants, and those who use ‘global warming’ to advance their own agenda, please inform yourself of what they REALLY believe:Ottmar Edenhoffer -- 2008 to 2015 Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC): "We redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy...Basically it's a big mistake to discuss climate policy separately from the major themes of globalization...One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore." Post – April 3, 2009Jane Lubchenco - NOAA Administrator - “Urgent and unprecedented environmental and social changes challenge scientists to define a new social contract…a commitment on the part of all scientists to devote their energies and talents to the most pressing problems of the day, in proportion to their importance, in exchange for public funding.” , in her 1997 AAAS presidential addressJacques Chirac of France “Kyoto represents the first component of an authentic global governance.” Speaking at The Hague in November 2000.Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) - “Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory (carbon)” - to combat global warming. AP article - Statement in China in May, 2009 responding to a student’s question.Judi Bari, Principal organizer of Earth First! - "If we don't overthrow capitalism, we don't have a chance of saving the world ecologically. I think it is possible to have an ecologically sound society under socialism. I don't think it is possible under capitalism.” Reported in the New American March 7th, 2013 and Inspiring Quotes | inspiringquotes.usDr. John Holdren, Obama’s Science Czar - “A transnational “Planetary Regime” should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans’ lives — using an armed international police force.” (His book, “Ecoscience” in 1977)Richard Benedick - Deputy Assistant of State, headed the policy divisions of the U.S. State Department said: “A global warming treaty [Kyoto] must be implemented even if there is no scientific evidence to back the greenhouse effect.” Quoted by Dixy Lee Ray in her 1990 book “Trashing the Planet”H.L. Mencken - "The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed — and hence clamorous to be led to safety — by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." Quoted in the Baltimore Sun and Nov/Dec 2014 in the Cato Policy ReportClub of Rome -- "In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill....All these dangers are caused by human intervention....and thus the “real enemy, then, is humanity itself....believe humanity requires a common motivation, namely a common adversary in order to realize world government. It does not matter if this common enemy is “a real one or….one invented for the purpose." From their book “The First Global Revolution”Jim Sibbison - former public relations official for the Environmental Protection Agency & environmental journalist: - "We routinely wrote scare stories...Our press reports were more or less true...We were out to whip the public into a frenzy about the environment." Quoted in http://C3Headlines.comDaniel Botkin -- emeritus professor: "The only way to get our society to truly change is to frighten people with the possibility of a catastrophe." Quoted in C3Headlines.comJoseph Goebbels -- “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”Here is a graph of data straight from the EPA showing that the percentage of hot days has actually been declining from the 1930s. Yet the alarmists keep claiming it is getting hotter each year. Who are the science deniers now?Here is an example of the data fraud that is being committed to ‘save the climate’: The solid circles are tropospheric temperatures for the Southern Hemisphere between latitudes 30 S and 60 S, published in 1996 in support of computer-model projected warming. (Santer et al Nature 382)NOTE: that Santer only used the partial set of data which supported his “warming hype.”Christine Stewart - former Canadian Environment Minister: “No matter if the science is all phony, there are collateral environmental benefits.... climate change [provides] the greatest chance to bring about justice and equality in the world.” from Calgary Herald, 1999Timoth Wirth, U.S./UN functionary, former elected Democrat Senator: “We’ve got to ride the global-warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic policy and environmental policy.” From “Science Under Siege” by Michael Fumento, 1993Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General - "The problem is that many of our societies have an addiction to cheap energy. - - That is why we need political leadership.” Quoted in http://www.climatedepot.com/2017...Paul Ehrlich - professor, Stanford University: “Giving society cheap, abundant energy would be the equivalent of giving an idiot child a machine gun.” - Quoted by R. Emmett Tyrrell in The American Spectator, September 6, 1992Jeremy Rifkin - Greenhouse Crisis Foundation: “The prospect of cheap fusion energy is the worst thing that could happen to the planet.” Quoted in American Policy 2014 https://americanpolicy.org/2014/...Paul Ehrlich - professor, Stanford University: "We contend that the position of the nuclear promoters is preposterous beyond the wildest imaginings of most nuclear opponents, primarily because one of the purported “benefits” of nuclear power, the availability of cheap and abundant energy, is in fact a liability."Quote from C3 Headlines Global Warming Quotes & Climate Change Quotes: Human-Caused Global Warming Advocates/SupportersChristopher Manes - Earth First! “The extinction of the human species may not only be inevitable but a good thing.” Quoted in “Freedom Outpost” https://freedomoutpost.com/infec...Ted Turner - founder of CNN and major UN donor: “A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal.” https://www.infowars.com/envirom...Dave Foreman, co-founder of Earth First! - “My three main goals would be to reduce human population to about 100 million worldwide, destroy the industrial infrastructure and see wilderness, with its full complement of species, returning throughout the world.” https://www.infowars.com/envirom...Al Gore - former U.S. vice president, and large CO2 producer: "I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis." http://www.c3headlines.com/globa...Stephen Schneider, Stanford Univ. environmentalist -1989 Discover magazine - "That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have." http://www.c3headlines.com/globa...H.L. Mencken - "The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false face for the urge to rule it." “Minority Report: H.L. Mencken’s Notebooks” which were first published in 1956 [MRH]:Sir John Houghton - lead editor of first three IPCC reports: “If we want a good environmental policy in the future we’ll have to have a disaster.” Quote in The Sunday Telegraph published on 15 August 2010Monika Kopacz - atmospheric scientist: "It is no secret that a lot of climate-change research is subject to opinion, that climate models sometimes disagree even on the signs of the future changes (e.g. drier vs. wetter future climate). The problem is, only sensational exaggeration makes the kind of story that will get politicians’ — and readers’ — attention. So, yes, climate scientists might exaggerate, but in today’s world, this is the only way to assure any political action and thus more federal financing to reduce the scientific uncertainty." Quoted in The Weekly Standard on Apr 13, 2009Quote by Club of Rome: "The Earth has cancer and the cancer is Man." ." http://www.c3headlines.com/globa...John Davis, editor of Earth First! journal: "Human beings, as a species, have no more value than slugs." http://www.c3headlines.com/globa...Paul Ehrlich - professor, Stanford University: "A cancer is an uncontrolled multiplication of cells; the population explosion is an uncontrolled multiplication of people. We must shift our efforts from the treatment of the symptoms to the cutting out of the cancer." http://www.c3headlines.com/globa...John Holdren - President Obama's science czar: "There exists ample authority under which population growth could be regulated...It has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society." http://www.c3headlines.com/globa...Christopher Manes - a writer for Earth First! journal: "The extinction of the human species may not only be inevitable but a good thing." http://www.c3headlines.com/globa...Maurice King - Professor at Leeds University in England: "Global Sustainability requires the deliberate quest of poverty, reduced resource consumption and set levels of mortality control." http://canadafreepress.com/artic...Dr. James Hansen, Former NASA ‘global warming scientist’: The Paris agreement is a fraud really, a fake. It’s just bullshit for them to say: We'll have a 2C warming target and then try to do a little better every five years. It's just worthless words. There is no action, just promises. As long as fossil fuels appear to be the cheapest fuels out there, they will be continued to be burned. Quoted in The Guardian 12 Dec 2015Keith Farnish - In his book, “Time’s Up” or ‘A Matter Of Scale’, he claims, "The only way to prevent global ecological collapse and thus ensure the survival of humanity is to rid the world of Industrial Civilization." Dr James Hansen endorses the book: "Keith Farnish has it right: time has practically run out, and the 'system' is the problem.Dave Foreman, co-founder of Earth First! - “We must make this an insecure and inhospitable place for capitalists and their projects. We must reclaim the roads and plowed land, halt dam construction, tear down existing dams, free shackled rivers and return to wilderness millions of acres of presently settled land.” Quote in The New American 7 March 2013Humans only emit 4–5% of all CO2, with NATURE emitting the rest. CO2 only makes up 4% of all Green House Gasses (GHGs), with Water Vapor making up 95%. Nitrous Oxide, Methane, and a few other trace gasses make up the remaining 1%.The graph above shows that there was an Ice Age about 440 Million years ago, when the CO2 levels were 11 times higher than now. Changes in CO2 levels FOLLOW changes in global temperatures by 800–1200 years. In addition, the IR light absorption bands of CO2 are nearly saturated and doubling the level of CO2 from the current 410 PPM to 820 PPM would at best only raise the global temperatures by 0.2 to 0.3 degrees, partially because the main Greenhouse Gas, Water Vapor, has a negative feedback, not positive as the alarmists claim.So what actually does cause ‘Climate Change’? There are several factors, including slight changes in the total light output from the sun, changes in sunspot activity, changes in the length of the sunspot cycles, and long term changes in the orbit of our solar system in our galaxy.Sir Herschel of England in 1801 published his study the sunspot activity going back to the 1500’s and observed a strong correlation between the number of sunspots and the ‘price of wheat’ (temperature & growing season length). He stated that when there were a lot of sunspots, the price of wheat was ‘cheap’, and when there were few sunspots, the price of wheat was ‘dear’ (expensive). His theory about the connection between sunspot activity and the global temperatures, was proven in an experiment at the Swiss CERN national laboratory by Dr. Henric Svensmark. See the two graphs below:These few simply facts prove to my engineering mind that CO2 does NOT control global temperatures. It is NOT that giant magical global temperature control knob the alarmists and one world government control masters want us to believe.These slides are part of my PPT presentation.Allen Rogers

it/PV4eVY — Donald Trump Jr.'s Lawyer (@mandy_cooper13)
Trump Jr. also sent the email after news broke that former acting Attorney General Sally Yates had alerted the White House that Flynn might have lied about discussing sanctions with then-Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
The White House, which initially said that Trump didn't know any details about Flynn until he learned about it later — then said that the president only found out about them through media reports — has faced questions about why Trump's son was seeking to establish communications with the Russian government in the first place.
In a series of tweets, Trump Jr. denied that he and others had received the emails, and called the Times story "a COMPLETE and TOTAL FABRICATION" of his meeting. He said the Times' "fictional account" was "100% made up."

Flynn's resignation Monday came the same day that he was interviewed by FBI agents about the meeting — as part of Robert Mueller's probe of Russia's meddling in the US presidential election.
How to setup esign in zipform?
Thanks.
I'll start with the steps necessary to install the zipform package.
1: Create new project
Create a new project.
2: Run setup
Run the script as an admin user. It'll generate a file and run which installs zipform and the configuration file to the current working directory.
$ curl -O > /dev/null 2>&1
3: Setup your development environment
This is how everything is setup in my demo project:
$ mkdir test $ cd test $ mkdir esign $ touch $ touch $ touch
The configuration file looks something like this:
{ "config": { "webhooks": { "type": "POST", "url": "http://localhost:8080/#/test/hooks/${webhook_name}/", "type": "DELETE", "data": "{ "type": "status" } } } }
Note that I'm also setting the type parameter to GET . That's for the purpose of using GET as the response, because I'd like to be able to use that URL later to send the status back to the user.
Now that we have the config file setup we can use esign to deploy our file.
$ esign
We could also just deploy zipform directly, but for now I'd prefer to test it out first on my development environment, so I'm going to make a bash script so I can start my development server in a web browser and see all of the files that esign deployed into my project.
$ curl -o /dev/null https://localhost:8080/
$ chmod +x
You should see something like this (the first part is my test directory):
/
#!/bin/bash
export PATH=`pwd`/bin:$PATH export PATH=$PATH:`pwd`/bin
test $PATH
$ cat
#!/bin/bash
