I was employed at a local government department. I was appointed into a senior IT position. Please note that I’m keeping the information vague to protect me and several other people that might be identifiable in this subject.Event 1:I was tasked to oversee all IT tasks although I didn’t held the position of IT Manager. I was tasked by the CFO to review the office equipment print contracts which had expired. The procurement required 3 quotations and the cheapest was usually accepted unless properly motivated.I held meetings with all parties and got the authorization to continue with my redesign of printing, faxing and scanning environment.The design would integrate with the IT network, allowed network scanning, printing and would allow full integrated network authentication. The system was designed to later add document management and archiving once this project kicked in.The procurement request was send to the CFO for review. The next day a couple of “vendor reps” walked in and said they will handle the delivery. I never knew them and immediately called the vendor. Our vendor supplier told me they didn’t employ them.The issue was escalated to the CFO and procurement manager, but they never responded. Two days later the procurement department informed me that they will deliver 60% of the order and the rest will arrive in two weeks. (strange because the vendor I dealt with gave me different instructions).I liaised with the procurement department and was informed that the order was placed with the same vendor but from a different region. I contacted the vendor and requested the person to fax me the signed order. The signed order had the wrong equipment and was complete wrong specified. I tried to interject a remedy but it was to late, they refused. I contacted the procurement manager and he just ignored my request to resolve the wrongful ordered equipment.The equipment that I designed would not be delivered and the new equipment started to arrive.The new (elephants) equipment arrived and I couldn’t do anything with it. About 50% of the office equipment couldn’t connect to the network. They were the wrong specified equipment, without network cards or software, but were invoiced at fully specified equipment. The other 50% we managed to connect to the network but we could only do very basic printing but no scanning.I got proof of the inflated order at the “new” vendor and set course to uncover the corrupt procurement of equipment.The “new” vendor owner called me and threatened me that I should stop fishing around.I was fired because I stirred opened up a can of worms.Event 2:Same time I uncovered a procurement scam. This was signed off by the procurement manager, CFO and GM.The criteria was to get three quotations from vendors. Three quotations were received but the most expensive quotation got excepted. I dug in and found that the local manufacturer supplied a quotation which was the cheapest. The second quotation was from another company representing the vendor products but was 30% more expensive but had excellent service.The third but most expensive quotation had a markup of 150%. One of the local service department managers was a co-owner. This quotation got accepted. The equipment was delivered but was only never installed initially because it excluded installation. Then 3 months later in got installed at an additional fee, but with very poor workmanship. It fell apart 2 years later..Event 3:In the same period government department needed to appoint an IT manager. I wanted to make a difference and applied for the position but never got it, in hand sight I’m thankful for getting fired and uncovered the corrupt appointment of the IT manager.The IT manager appointed was a close friend of the MD. The position was given to him on special conditions. He had to buy his position.The CV of the IT manager had fake University certificates and he lied about his skills on the CV. He had little IT knowledge and couldn’t do even basic IT fault finding skills.Good riddance!!I’m glad I was fired for all the wrong reasons. The work was extremely stressful and caused several personal problems. Today I’m back on my feet.Did I take legal action? Yes I did, but decided to let go because I got death threats.

The animals may be acting on instinct, and there could be some “method to the madness”.Surplus killing can deplete the overall food supply, waste predator energy and risk them being injured. Nonetheless, researchers say animals surplus kill whenever they can, in order to procure food for offspring and others, to gain valuable killing experience, and to create the opportunity to eat the carcass later when they are hungry again.[1]There are some other accounts which seem more like “fun”, though.
