I've been a long time fan of the idea of having people write their own stuff. There are a lot of great frameworks, and it is possible to write your own stuff with them. But it is so easy to get sucked by that idea of "I want to build all the cool stuff, and I want you to pay for that stuff. It's the same mindset that we were in in 1999." I'm all about having people write their own stuff.
One other problem I've been talking about for a long time is that we have a few people on the team who have the wrong ideas. One of the biggest reasons the community is so good and I have been successful over the years is that we're lucky enough to hire people who have the right ideas.
