Why doesn't Microsoft understand tablets?
Look: the devices known as "Tablet PC" and the "iPad" are fundamentally different classes of product, and they need to be analyzed differently. I would even say that Microsoft is king of a device that happens to have a niche audience. The device that Apple has made is a "consumer product" that is pretty much only capable (at this time) of "consuming". The typical use cases for it are sitting around reading your e-mail, browsing the web, watching videos, and giving presentations.Despite it being theoretically possible, you don't sit down with an iPad and attempt to actually use it to writ...

What are some awesome Google products/services very few people know about?
Use Google Location History to Find Where You Have Traveled!!(This is my recent travel on timeline) :)Google can track a lot of things. Your Timeline is a Google Maps tool that enables the users to track the places that they have visited on any given day. Your Timeline shows the routes that they took to signNow there, and the photos that they clicked on the way, which Google neatly stores away into Google Photos. The feature claims that Your Timeline is private and only you can see it. With the same technology Google tells you about the real time traffic information. You may not be aware of Your Timeline feature. Take it if you like to be tracked 24X7 or leave it if you do not want to be tracked. Maybe you are okay if you get tracked occasionally. The choice is yours! It is a known feature, we have read about it often but still not many people use it. Some are using it without being aware that they are using a feature that is tracking their every movement.Enable Location HistoryIf you have a Google account, you can use the Timeline feature on your Android mobile phone. Google tracks your location through Google Maps, which works on the Android phone and the web as well. Google also uses your search and browser information, GPS, Wi-Fi, cell towers and device sensors like gyroscopes and accelerometers to create your timeline. To access this feature, you must enable the Location History on computer or on your mobile phone. Thanks for reading hope it's helpful… :))

What are examples of A/B testing?
A/B testing is an approach used to compare two different versions of marketing content to find out which one works better. In other words, figure which one performs better in terms of a specific conversion goal. Let’s examine how it works depending on 3 things you might want to test.Website A/B TestingTo test your website you need a platform to create different versions of a page, separate incoming traffic and display different versions of the site to users at random time. But you also need to collect and analyze the data from your experiments.Depending on which tool you pick and how you use it, you can test almost anything on your website:HeadlinesImages and videos (placement, or versions with and without)Placement of call-to-action or sign-upValue propositionsButton location / type / color / descriptionBecause there is so much to choose from, it’s important to focus on the things that have a real impact. For example, it’s not the best idea to test two completely different versions of a site against each other, as the results will tell you which one worked better – but they won’t tell you why. When you test one thing at a time, and it’s a change that has a large impact then it’s a test that you can draw valid, specific conclusions from. A good example could be placing a sign-up button over the fold OR in the middle of the page.Source: Laptop, hand, person and computer HD photo by rawpixel (@rawpixel) on UnsplashWebsite A/B Testing ToolsThere are plenty of different tools for website A/B testing, like:Unbounce – platform for creating and testing landing pages, with an intuitive drag-and-drop builder, easy to use testing tools, and insightful analytics.VWO – an easy tool that allows you to change elements and content on your website to create different versions, run experiments, track specific conversion goals to easily evaluate performance, and continuously optimize your site.Google Analytics Experiments – a powerful A/B testing tool that makes it possible to split-test multiple versions of a web page and deliver them to users through different URLs. It can be configured in a myriad of ways, from using it to handle the whole test, along with redirecting users to separate versions of the website, to just using the Analytics engine for reporting, and relying on another tool to display different website versions.Another important thing is to take your time and allow your experiment to build up a decent amount of data. For e-commerce companies, a social media platform or a popular SaaS, generating a lot of traffic will be easier – but a B2B startup in a niche market with low website traffic needs to be much smarter about A/B testing. However, testing on low-traffic sites can still work wonders – as long as you only test things that have the biggest impact on visitors, as Optimizely’s Steve Ebin confirms. He provided an example test that he ran for MuleSoft, on a page with only 75 visits per day. In less than two weeks, he was able to conclude that presenting data in a different way resulted in a 40% improvement in conversion.A/B Testing Your EmailsHere things get a little bit easier. What can you test in an email campaign? For example:Target groupsSubject linesEmail contentSending timesA/B testing in email campaigns doesn’t require as sophisticated software as website A/B testing. You can run a valid test with just your GMail account and a spreadsheet, because all you need to do is to divide your contact list in half, send them different versions of your emails, and see which group responds / clicks the most. But it will be easier with tools like Woodpecker, Lemlist (for cold outsignNow) or MailChimp, Mailerlite(for newsletter, with built in A/B testing suite), which collect data, and provide useful automation tools.Just like in website testing, you want to focus on the things that have the most impact, and test one thing at a time. For example, don’t send two different email versions with two different subject lines to two different target groups, because a test like this won’t give you any conclusive results. But test one cold email campaign on two different target groups, and you’ll be able to see which one converts more. Or test two subject lines in your campaign, and you’ll see which one generates more opens.A/B Test SurveysLet’s move on to A/B testing in customer surveys and feedback forms. This is a tricky one, because it can involve a bit of website and / or email testing. You can A/B test different versions of questions in your surveys, but you can also test how (and when) you ask your customers to fill out your survey. To start with, you can use a basic tool like Google Forms to create your surveys, and perform tests like:Send survey to one half of users right after sign-up, and a week after the sign-up to the second halfAsk one half of users to fill in customer survey on a post sign-up web page, and the other half in a post sign-up emailSend a different survey (for instance one limited only to most important questions, and one with additional questions) to each half of your customer baseBut you can turn it up to 11 (Spinal Tap references, anybody?), and use customer feedback software like Feedier which will enable you to use one platform to test:What questions you should askWhere and when your users/customers are most likely to click on your surveyHow you should reward users for giving feedbackWhat should be the frequency of your feedback loop—We have more articles about this content on our blog at feedier.com/blog.

What is the best way to give a PowerPoint presentation?
I completely agree about all the resources above - nothing can tell you how to present well and write great slide decks like watching people who do it brilliantly. My personal advice would be:Don't touch PowerPoint until you know what story you want to tell and how. I often start with mind-mapping, or maybe just a list of the key points I want to get across. It depends how long and complex the presentation is going to be.Don't touch PowerPoint unless you need it to help tell the story you want to tell. If you can do just as good a job by talking and showing a product demonstration, or by whiteboarding, skip the slides. They shouldn't be mandatory.PowerPoint will blank the screen if you press the B button. So if you don't need slides for all of your talk, or if you want to get focus back for emphasis, blank the screen to get people looking at you again. (Most presenter remotes will let you program a button to do that, some have one mapped already.)Remember it's not possible for your audience to read and listen at the same time.(This has been alluded to above but it bears repeating.) Never forget the presentation has to meet your audience's needs or it won't meet yours. Pick one or two people who will be in your audience. Imagine what they will get out of the presentation, then from every slide, then from every point or every word. If anything doesn't contribute to what the people in the room need from the presentation, kill it. Make every word and every graphic fight for its life.Practice, out loud, at least twice, all the way through. For most people, the first few times out loud will be clunky. You get to choose whether it's your furniture that sees them or your audience.Practice open, expansive, confident body language in a mirror, remember what it looks and feels like, so you can switch it on when you need to. Don't rush your words. Don't be afraid of pauses. Even if you're terrified and want to run from the room, faking confident body language will actually make you feel more comfortable.Good luck!

What are the top 10 structural design skills, as an engineering graduate that I can start developing in my free time?
Top on my list is Drawing. Here is my list.1)Drawing. Plans, elevations, end views, sectional views. You must be able to sketch them crudely but accurately using pencil and paper, and also be a skilled user of Autocad (or equivalent) to draw in a professional manner. You must be able to read drawings and put your finger on mistakes. Drawing is the language of Engineers. . It is an international language with no ambiguity whatsoever and no amount of words and sentences in any language in the world can convey what a simple sketch can convey.Master this. The rules are simple and after some practice you will be comfortable with them.2) Basic Strength of materials and theory of structures. Instead of stress on how to calculate them, in various structural arrangements and for various loadings, be sure you understand them. Computers and software will calculate them for you but never be in a situation where you are helplessly forced to believe what the computer prints out. You must be able to look critically at the results and put your finger on anything that looks 'fishy' and check and correct it.3)A flair for numbers and simple math. Learn short cuts to arithmetic computations. Commit to memory some useful formulae and values. Know the properties of common materials like concrete and steel and memorise their E values, densities, unit weights and be able to reel off from memory, the MI, Z, and area values of the most commonly used rolled steel shapes, like I sections, channels, angles and round bars.4)Master (and completely 'digest')the code provisions. IS 800 for steel design and IS 456 for concrete and IS 875 the loading code for both steel and concrete design. Read the entire code from cover to cover and commit to memory as many provisions as you can and at least be aware that such and such provisions exist in the code for a particular situation and know how to zero in directly to that relevant specification instead searching for it.5)Know how to use a 3D modeling package. I recommend Tekla structures. Master it if possible and learn to automate the generation of drawings.6)Master a spreadsheet package. I recommend Excel. Know how to use the built in functions, go through all the menus and sub menus. Learn to write Macros. Learn VBA and have the ability to develop customized applications. Excel is truly a "brahmaastra" if you know how to use it.8)Learn and master any one high level programming language. Don't depend on software developers to develop applications for you. They will never learn your subject well enough to give you the best software solution for you. It is much simpler for you to have basic software development skills, and, combined with your domain knowledge in your area of specialization the resulting application will be much better.9)Welcome every single opportunity to visit a construction site and Observe (not just see) what is happening there. Understand the problems at site, the sequences, techniques and the construction equipment used. If you get an opportunity to be posted temporarily, at a project site, welcome it. In the long run it will make you a better and more well rounded engineer. 10) If you are involved in steel construction try to visit a fabrication shop and see how they do the job from the fabrication drawings. It would be a great idea to have a year or two of experience in a structural steel detailing office and understand how a detailed fabrication drawing is made from the design drawings.I could go on but I will limit myself to 10 only. You need at least 5 years to get to some acceptable level and it normally takes 10 years of professional experience to be considered good in this profession. All the best to you in your career.GV

Who are the permanent allies of India?
We will be in trouble if we think that any country on earth will be a permanent ally. There is no such thing in politics, especially International relations. Every country has its priorities, and is driven by its domestic policies and needs. For India, it is best not to expect any country to be permanent allies even if it is Israel (because they have a genuine reason to be an Indian ally).Modi in Japan, with Shinjo Abe - image: Indian ExpressIf we must rely on a country, here are some countries with which India has been working very closely in the past and should continue doing so in future....

What are your three must have smartphone apps?
Oh, I couldn't reduce it to three. My phone isn't just a utility for me, it is also a medium for my creativity. That stated, there are a number of apps I consider to be must-have:1. The Weather ChannelThe Weather ChannelLong commutes make it necessary for me to have real-time updates on the weather wherever I am or am planning to be. I live in a metropolitan area that devolves into unbridled chaos in the event of inclement weather 100% of the time. It's ridiculous, but it's also why a weather app is at the top of my list of must-have smartphone apps.2. Office LensOffice LensOffice Lens makes every business card, sketchpad sketch, handwritten note, whiteboard, receipt and hard-copy printout into a symmetrical digital file that is then automatically uploaded to my OneNote, OneDrive, or both. No more carrying around business cards, plus I can share them electronically. This app is a must-have for certain!3. OneDriveOneDriveEvery document, photo, etc. that is important to me is loaded there, and I have access to my account from my Windows Phone, Android tablet, Chromebook, and PC.4. Lumia SelfieLumia SelfieThis is an underdog stock app from the maker of my smartphone device that has turned out to be invaluable. It is well designed to make the act of taking a selfie into an art form. It makes it easy for me to be spontaneous in my selfie-taking endeavors and provides me with a wealth of creative self-portraits for online use that I can change as often as the mood strikes me. Since image sells everything, it is truly a handy app to have.5. MusicProMusic ProHere's the deal. My car is nine years old and still has the stock stereo in the dashboard, which as you can probably guess doesn't have any auxiliary capability. So if I don't want to listen to FM radio or (eep!) CDs, I'm relegated to the use of my smartphone for my music needs. That stated -- the default music app for my Windows Phone is Xbox Music, which is a great app, except that it combines the music from my Xbox Music account with the music stored locally on the device. Therefore, if I want to listen to locally stored music ONLY, I have to either create a playlist in Xbox Music (which is a PITA) or use a separate music app. I have no problem with having multiple apps installed on a device to do one thing, as long as there are distinctions that justify their use (and enough space on my phone). MusicPro plays the music from my Windows Phone in a simple and intuitive user interface. I paid for the app, and rated it four stars out of five, so there is probably a better app out there to suit my needs. The point is that the app does what I need it to do (and provides a live tile display, which I enjoy), which is simplify my very high priority on-the-commute music experience. That's all I got. Have fun.

How is elon musk a good CEO when he doesn't have good social skills?
A good social skills doesn’t mean that you are a good CEO, especially in his line of work. Or take a look at Bill Gates or Steve Jobs (not talking about his presentations). Most of them lack “good” social skills. This is because they are “nerds” in their own profession. They are really good at it, exceptionally good. And that is what counts in their business. They don’t have to please people to get them to return to buy more, they just need to make a great product, which will attract the customers. And they don’t even need to sell those products themselves, they can hire people for that.Good social skills don’t hurt, look at Steve Jobs’ presentations. But it isn’t a must in their line of work. However, if they would run a supermarket (or fill in another extremely saturated market here), they wouldn’t probably that good at it. But since they don’t do that, and do things other people can’t, their social skills really don’t matter.Think about it like this, imagine a guy found the cure for cancer. And he is the only one who made the best cancer medicine out there, he’s not a nice guy or is just awkward, would you go to that guy to purchase your medicine if you have cancer?Or, now imagine a that you want to buy a soda, and the owner of the store is not a nice guy or is just awkward. In which one of these cases would you be able to just switch to someone else. And in which one of these cases are you forced to go to them, even if they aren’t nice or awkward? There lies your anwer.
