Is someone ineffective at doing sign language better than no signer at all?
If you and your doctor didn't have a language in common, and you were having a medical emergency, would you prefer someone who knew twelve words in your language, all of which have to do with, say, Shakespeare, or would you prefer to have a certified medical interpreter absolutely fluent in your language? What if your shitty interpreter was a distraught family member, just to make everything worse?I am 39. I did not experience a professional interpreter at any medical appointment until I was 19. You know the first time I experienced having an interpreter every moment I was in the medical setting, including the OR? This year. What a surprise that my quality of medical care was exactly proportional with my quality of interpreter access. Both not having an interpreter and having well meaning shitty non-interpreters who know a few signs are completely inappropriate situations. In many ways having a person who is trying to help makes things worse, because I would be entirely excluded from the conversation, and denied any opportunity to accurately convey information.I have had situations where a hospital intentionally put in an employee who knew maybe twelve signs to “hold me over” until the real interpreter showed up. That is entirely inappropriate and extremely frightening, especially if they cannot even spell their own name. I have a policy of refusing to engage with that person, and as politely as possible asking them to immediately leave. I have no expectations of retaining my right to confidentiality let alone any expectation of accuracy with such a completely unqualified person, but the hospital personnel act like the person can string together a single sentence, which is even worse really. Best to not engage and enable such terrible behavior however well meaning. The last time this happened to me was April 25 of this year, when people should entirely know better. I will certainly count my blessings I'm not anywhere near that hospital anymore. Every single time, given a choice, I will wait for the actual interpreter. Foisting an unqualified stranger so inept that I can dissect their entire vocabulary immediately is frightening and inappropriate.A little bit of well meaning help is way worse, in many ways, than being alone. If a hearing person is present, and they are not an interpreter, the hearing personnel will gravitate to them, not me. I become talked about right in front of me. While certainly understandable, it is inappropriate and the only way to definitively ensure it doesn't happen is to have a certified medical interpreter. So in this order is my preference for the medical setting, assuming I am capable of interaction:Certified medical interpreterAlone with my iPad and/or iPhoneAlone with pen and paperAlone and with nothingSomeone well meaning and familiar who unintentionally excludes me without prior full communicationSomeone well meaning and unfamiliarPerhaps you can figure out my feelings from that list.

Is there anything inherently problematic with respect to how Boeing's 737 Max planes are engineered or do pilots merely need tra
Training is involved, but not in the way you might have thought, and most certainly the word “merely” is not applicable. The MAX is Boeing’s response to the A320neo, which is threatening its market. Boeing’s customers keep buying 737 variants because it is cheaper for them to train their pilots - they only have to undergo a short “differences” training session. That for the NG to MAX transition was apparently a Powerpoint presentation on an iPad, taking a maximum of an hour to finish and sign off. It’s also cheaper for Boeing, who only have to signNow the differences between the previous version (the NG) and the current one.The lack of a need to undergo more extensive retraining was so important to the customer airlines that at least one, SouthWest, had a penalty against Boeing of $1M per aircraft written into its purchase contract if any ‘additional training’ (undefined) was required to fly it.Boeing hit a snag late in the test flying phase, when they discovered that at high angles of attack and low airspeeds, the force on the stick reduced as the angle of attack increased. This is not like the original 737, and the FAA would not signNow the aircraft with that behaviour. Please note, this is not any kind of instability, only a reduction in the static stability margin. However, to fix this for certification and still keep the right side of the ‘additional training’ issue, Boeing introduced a fix using the tailplane trim system, driven by a software routine in the flight control computer, which on the 737 manages control augmentations and not primary flight controls. This was presented as just another augmentation, of low risk and only functional in one small corner of the flight envelope. Hence they were able to get it certified as a sort of single-lane system, using one set of sensors and one software routine. Somehow, this got past the safety analysis without any rigorous testing of possible failure modes.Rigorous testing matters in this case because the software, the MCAS, has authority over the most powerful control surface on the aircraft - the tailplane trim angle. The system as delivered had five times the authority of the one that was certified - a maximum deflection of 2.5° per application, instead of 0.6°. There is a big question there that has not been answered. So, by trying to thread the needle of addressing a slight erosion of stability margins without requiring any retraining or recertification (I think this is why the MCAS was omitted from the flight manuals and the differences training), Boeing have painted themselves into a corner. There is a serious issue with any aircraft that can persistently trim itself nose-down, to the point where it overwhelms the two pilots acting together, and crash straight down into the ground at full speed, all because of one sensor failure. It’s not a situation that should ever arise, and no amount of training is going to make it go away.

In what sense does Apple use Metaio's software in their products?
I was working with MetaIO at the time they were purchased, which meant we had to stop using it.At the time, about 3 years ago-ish (ancient history in “Silicon Valley Time”), the way it worked was by ingesting/creating a “target,” though some used the term “marker.” Phones were nowhere as sophisticated as they are now, with some possessing both Tango-enabled AR, and being Daydream VR certified (truly, we live in a Golden Age).Using the pre-determined target/marker, one could apply a new image, video, texture, simple 3D models, even an animation with alpha channels (nearly whatever you wanted, really - provided you did not choke the device with dramatic RAM nor processing requirements). For example, in the video below, the marketing mailer is the pre-determined AR target - often embedded within another commercial app. This clip is from China, and the audio is incongruous, but the idea would be not unlike a Bed Bath and Beyond mailer coupon in the USA. Using their app, it would aim to garner marketing interest, sign ups, etc., with the animation - perhaps “hiding” extra discounts if you used it.I do not presently work for Apple, but this is a much older, and less sophisticated example of what we can do now. We don’t require markers/targets anymore. They are still useful, but one is no longer “locked” to a target/marker.Here is what one could do on an iPad, back in 2014, using MetaIO (I call it looking through a “magic window,” no matter the device):The entire physical world, using GPS, LBE, iBeacons, Eddystones, et al, are now what will super-power your AR experiences.Pokémon was just a paste job atop imagery, not true AR. Using this kind of tech, anything can be inserted realistically into your environment, or you can enter altered/virtual ones.Provided, that is, your mobile device can do SLAM, like a Tango. I have to believe that the iPhone 8 should be capable of this. The iPhone 7 is a bridge to that, with what can essentially be a “midway” stereoscopic camera setup (a requisite for proper AR content insertion). However, they need a different camera configuration to do it properly.Once we can unleash reliable 5G speeds, I can only sum up by saying: you are going to see cool some ****!What Apple intends to do, no one will say. My bet is that they will link it to their iTunes library, where one would access AR (maybe VR) content for purchase. Apple TV and/or iTunes may also well become “portals,” and using cloud tech, provide social experiences within AR/VR. Honestly, the possibilities are so many, one could dream up tons of experiences for entertainmen, education, work, social, et al.Further, Apple is now getting into the business of content creation. This is a move that should come as no surprise, because Apple’s reputation is built on quality design, and compete control of its entire ecosystem, from start to finish. It just doesn’t make sense for the company’s DNA, to outsource these types of high-profile, sensitive, and expensive projects.Tim Cook feels the pressure to deliver awesome for the tenth anniversary of the iPhone. He has to prove Apple can continue to innovate beyond just making the iPhone smaller, lighter, bigger screen, longer battery life, etc. We are near the upper flatline of the curve for innovating smartphones, unless AR and/or VR is added, especially to compete with others like Google’s Daydream. If he can pull off awesome, the sky is the limit. If not….I am rooting for him, though, Tim Cook is among my heroes. You can discover some older stuff to learn about, here: 7 Fantastically Creative Augmented Reality Advertising CampaignsIf you found this helpful, I appreciate the up-votes.Cheers!

What is wrong with the Boeing 737 MAX? Can it be re-certified? Will countries and travelers be able to trust it again?
The actual cause of the Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines crashes have not been determined but investigators have a pretty good idea what caused both of the accidents. Both accidents have one thing in common. Control of the aircraft being taken away from the pilots by the now infamous, MCAS system. The MCAS System was designed to control the tendency of the aircraft to pitch up excessively due to repositioning of the the engines further forward under the wing for ground clearance. By moving the engines further forward, the MAX experienced more lift than the previous versions of the 737 . Most experts have agreed that there is no problem with the aircraft ‘s design but rather a flaw in the MCAS System processing data from the AOA ( angle of attack sensors ) that contributed to the accident . Boeing is working on a software fix for the MCAS system to avoid a recurrence of the previous two crashes. This system upgrade will be thoroughly reviewed by the FAA , airline pilots and representatives from other nations that fly the 737 MAX Aircraft. No stone will be left unturned before the aircraft is re-certified to resume flying. No commercial aircraft has received such scrutiny as the 737 MAX aircraft in history. Pilots are even participating in the inquiry . If the FAA , other countries and the pilots agree to re-signNow the aircraft to resume flying, I would have no safety issues in flying on the 737 MAX aircraft. Once the MAX is allowed to fly again, and there are no safety incidents, the public’s confidence will be restored in the aircraft’s safety.

They are:Class I DSC – Individuals get it for validating the email identification of the users and in situations where risk is minimal and here the signature is stored in software.Class II DSC – Business organizations or individuals use this digital signature certificate to validate the information given by the subscriber in the application against the information available in a trusted consumer database and in other such situations where security risk is moderate. In this case a hardware cryptographic device is used for storing the signature.Class III DSC – This digital certificate is directly issued by the signNowing authority and it is required that the person applying for DSC must be present at the signNowing authority’s premises and prove his/her identity in front of the authority and the security risk involved in this case is very high. In this case also a hardware cryptographic device is used for storing the signature. The Necessity of Digital Signature CertificatesFor e-filing of the income tax returns by any individual, the Government of India has made it mandatory to affix digital signatures to the income tax returns documents. For affixing the digital signature one must have digital signature certificates issued by licensed certification authority. In addition, Ministry of Corporate Affairs has set the mandatory guidelines for the companies directing them to file all reports, applications and forms using a digital signature only and this again requires a digital signature certificate. For GST also a company must verify its GST application by affixing a digital signature using digital signature certificate in order to get registered for GST.These days many Government procedures, filling different applications, amendments and forms require digital signatures made by using digital signature certificates.Benefits of Digital Signature CertificatesSaves Money & Time: As there is no need of physical presence you can digitally sign your PDF files and other documents using DSC anywhere & anytime. You need not sign your paper documents and then scan them to send them across through internet if you follow the above given option. You can save the money which would otherwise be spent on printing and scanning the document. You can also go green by saving paper.Secured Data: The digitally signed documents are tamper proof as the digital signatures are secured with a private key and public key and they cannot be edited after digitally signing the document.Authentic: Digitally signed documents are authentic and the receiver can be completely sure about the sender’s identity and integrity. The receiver can easily execute the information in the document without worrying about the document being forged.Certificate (DSC) is essential for companies and organizations that take part or intend to take part in eTendering processes on various Government sites. What is the best way to learn Growth Hacking?
I disagree with every other answer to this post.To become a great growth hacker, here's what you shouldn't do:Read blog posts or books written by marketersRead case studies or other publications about marketingI made the mistake of doing all of the above for my first four years in marketing.I failed to grow startups.1…2…5…8Yes, eight failed startups.WTF am I doing wrong?I stopped reading.Instead, I began testing. I started using free trials of software. I went through around fifty free trials of software in a year.As a result, I found unique ways to combine products to create results.By linking ideas and products together, I discovered how to create what would become the most engaged community of marketers and founders.I also discovered how to automate social channels on a level few people understood.I wrote all my learnings in step-by-step guides I shared with my community, Marketers & Founders. When you stop reading other people's content on the internet and begin creating your own, then you'll have an opportunity to become a growth hacker.Everything else is noise.Marketers selling marketing advice to other marketers sounds a lot like bullshit. Don't fall into this feedback loop. The best growth hackers are those who don't consider themselves growth hackers.Growth hacking is a fancy way to say, “discovering creative ways to scale relationship building and find product/market fit faster.”It's no more complicated than that.I think I'm great at providing value to people at scale. In turn, people think I know a lot about growth hacking.Again, I don't read blogs or pay attention to well-known marketers. I don't even attend conferences unless I’m speaking.I create value.Want to growth hack?Start by lending a hand to help others, then ask yourself how you can scale your help using automation and software. If you do this, you’ll save yourself from the years of pain I went through. If you’re interested in learning more about growth hacking, I discuss it here with the founder of Growthhackers, Sean Ellis.
