Are pest control treatments safe for people and pets?
If pest control is meant by application of chemical pesticides, then the answer is: it is never safe. By nature pesticides are biocides and they are designed to kill life.Companies claim some pesticides to be the safe one. But there is nothing without any adverse effect on environment or human health. The degree of adversity may however vary.Few pesticides are toxic to pollinators, parasitoids and other useful insects. Others may be toxic to pets, wildelife and fishes. Also they cause varied human health problems like allergies, nerve toxicity, nephrologic and digestive disorders etc.Often secondary problems like pest resurgence, outbreaks, minor pests assuming major pest status, development of resistance etc are encountered after a sustained use of pesticides.Pesticides are therefore to be used only as last resort like as of a triumph card.

Have you ever asked someone (who later passed away) to give you proof of an afterlife? For example, a word/gesture that only you
In my late teens and early twenties, my boyfriend would always tell me he was going to die young or live forever. I would tell him to stop saying that because he couldn’t possibly live forever. He would laugh, so unaffected by the thought of dying young. So one night after he’d said it again while we were lying in bed I jabbed him in the ribs. He laughed yelled “ow!” and said what was that for? I told him every time he said it from now on I was going to poke him right between the ribs and make him wish he was dead. He laughed and turned on me, poking me in the ribs where I was most ticklish. He said “alright then, then after I’m good and young and dead I’m going to haunt your ass and jab you every time you annoy me!” This turned into a ridiculous sort of assaulting tickle fight. A night I remember fondly.A few months later, I was 21 and he was 24. We’d spent the day watching movies with my best friend. It was June 22, 2007. A beautiful summer Friday evening. We decided to go be outside somewhere. Enjoy the weather. So we gathered some friends and dogs and skateboards and took off. The first part of the evening was full of laughter and summer sweat. But less than two hours after we left my house, the night was full of screams and too much blood. We had been jumped on an elementary school playground in Baltimore County and in trying to protect me my boyfriend was brutally assaulted in front of me, beaten by three men with baseball bats. The moments between the actual attack and getting to shock trauma are flashes. There’s the flash of me holding his broken body, begging him not to leave me. Flashes of his grip on my hand weakening. His eyes rolling back into his head if I stopped talking to him long enough to scream at the two women who had stopped to call 911, demanding why it was taking so long. There’s the flash of the EMTs arriving, telling me not to let him go yet as they secured his neck. Me begging them to tell me he was going to be okay and their refusal to speak or look at me. Flashes of the wind of the helicopter landing and of him being loaded into it, me falling to the ground so hard my knees bled for days, praying to a god I didn’t even believe in. Flashes of flying down the highway to get to Hopkins. Apparently the entire way I rocked and sobbed “please don’t take him away from me,” though I don’t remember.I was numb and in shock and already experiencing PTSD from what I saw. I was questioned by police, shuffled from waiting room to interview room and back. Numb. Sticky. Staring at the blood on my hands I’d refused to let the firefighters wash off, so afraid they’d be washing him away for good. I sat in a small chair in the waiting area, covered in his vomit and so much blood that had poured from his broken body, namely the large opening in his skull, that it looked like motor oil. Looking back this time is a blur, I have only two clear memories of the wait to go see him. I remember a fly buzzing around the vomit on my knee. Then I remember running people. Crying people. I remember glancing up to see a very famous skateboarder sitting in the chair next me. Tears streaming down his face. I watched the tears for a moment before went back to staring at the fly on my knee.A day later while my boyfriend was in a drug induced coma I learned that at the exact moment my boyfriend was being jumped, Stephen Murray was taking his turn on the Baltimore stop of the BMX Dew Tour. He was flying through the air, attempting a double back flip, turning the wrong way and landing even worse on his neck. He was flown into shock trauma just seconds after my boyfriend. They didn’t know if either man would make it. I spent the next week numbly spending time with Stephen’s at the time wife, who was also named Melissa. We swapped pills we’d been prescribed to try to get through what was happening around us, chain smoked outside and she invited me over for spaghetti to the empty home the Dew Tour had set her up in down the street. I came to know his family and friends. In fact the moment I learned my boyfriend was having part of his skull removed to try to accommodate the swelling in his brain, I stepped off the elevator and there stood Stephen’s mother Cynthia and his brother. She took one look at my face and wrapped me in her arms. Holding me as I sobbed before asking in her unbelievably soothing English accent, “do you have a mum here?” I’ll never forget that woman, that hug or that voice. Warmth I latched onto in that cold sterile hallway.Stephen survived his accident a Quadriplegic and my boyfriend died July 10. Eighteen days after the attack and on my baby brother’s seventeenth birthday. The days after I barely remember. I recall I picked out the clothes he would be buried in but couldn’t go to the funeral. I couldn’t see him in a casket, the hospital had been bad enough. After the funeral many of my friends came to my door to check on me. One of them was one of the kindest most unbelievably genuine people I’d ever know, named Mark. Mark would continue to check on me every day after we the others all faded away, unsure how to talk to or be around me. But not Mark. He texted, called or just showed up for months to make sure I was at bare minimal surviving. Two weeks ago yesterday I stood at the podium at Mark’s viewing, looking down on him in his own casket, sharing that very story. While standing there I mentioned my boyfriend. I mentioned how he and Mark and I spent one summer together. I mentioned how Mark had been there for after the murder and I mentioned that they were together now. After I sat down and began listening to another person share a story about Mark, I thought back to Mark sitting next to me on my front step a month after the murder. He’d shown up at my door and dragged me out into the sun. I began crying that day. Mark jokingly told me to stop being a cry baby that my boyfriend would hate it. At that exact moment I felt Mark jab me between the ribs. I jumped and went to swat his hand away but his hands were in front of him. Mark looked at me funny and asked what was wrong. I told him what my boyfriend had said about poking me in the ribs. Mark laughed his huge laugh from his beautiful shit eating grin and said he totally believed my boyfriend was jabbing me in the ribs for being a cry baby. He’d have done the same thing he said before playfully shoving my shoulder and wrapping an arm around me.Two weeks ago yesterday I sat on a small love seat across from Mark in his casket with my current fiancé, in a room swollen full of young people and I thought back to that moment and I began to sob again. Next to me my fiancé shifted in his seat, my eyes were locked on Mark in his casket, and I felt a jab between my ribs. I flinched and looked to my fiancé, my eyes wide, but he was leaning away from me signNowing for a tissue. I looked back to Mark, remember his big shit eating grin saying of course it was my boyfriend jabbing me in the ribs for being a cry baby, he would do the same thing! And all I could do was smile.

He even begins to show interest in the things you like to do.He seeks pleasure in making you happy by giving small gifts or surprise you with something huge.He will not care about spending huge amount of money on you.In the times of utmost distress, he is the only friend of yours who stays by your side.If he is good at writing, he will write poems or songs for you or if he is good at drawing, he will draw your portraits. He gives you the topmost priority while deciding to go somewhere, keeping aside his other friends. He will like you to know about his family and about himself. Why is it so difficult to find a gun range that allows holster draw and fire drills?
Liability issues, first and foremost. Many gun owners who shoot at public ranges are not overly experienced with their weapons to start with—witness the many holes in the ceilings and tops and sides of shooting booths. Drawing from a holster introduces a big leap in danger of errand shots to both the shooter and surrounding clients—the shooter must take a grip, pull the gun from the holster, raised it to eye level, and fire.Every one of those movements create an opportunity for an accidental pull of the trigger … and a bullet going up, down, or sideways, not straight downrange. Unless you are participating in a dedicated holster class, or are among a group of experienced holster-draw shooters, ranges do NOT want the extra liability of holster-borne accidents. In other words, allowing anyone to shoot live ammo from holster draw without demonstrated proficiency makes for increased danger that range owners do not want to deal with. It’s a business and safety decision. That said, many ranges DO offer draw-from-holster classes that teach you to do it safely and accurately. I encourage you to sign up for them, because it’s crucial in a real gunfight and/or competition to know how to draw quickly AND accurately from your holster and send rounds downrange.

Has a bank teller ever made a mistake with your deposit, and are there any security measures banks take to ensure accuracy with
Anyone who’s worked for a bank knows that tellers do indeed make mistakes, since at the end of the day each drawer must be “balanced”: Their drawer’s cash total at the beginning of the day versus what it is at the end of the day, must match to all the cash entries, and the total of checks received and checks/money orders issued must balance as well, or else we must search for whatever errors create an imbalance, and correct them.Sometimes these errors can’t be found. If the teller handed out the wrong amount of cash, it won’t be recorded in the computer. If there was an addition error in checks deposited, this could be found and corrected by day-end. Often if the outage was divisible by “9,” then they had a transposition entry error; i.e. they entered, say, a check for $29 as $92. And sometimes, they can simply accidentally put the money in the wrong account, too — although account numbers usually have a “check digit” at the end so that if they do enter the number wrong, there’s a 1-in-10 chance of it being a viable account number (which odds become even worse as that account could also no longer be active). The “check digit” is such that: say you have account # 1111 and the next customer after you gets # 1112, an extra digit (usually in reverse countdown) is added to the end, so your number becomes 1111–9 and the next is 1112–8, then 1113–7 and so forth. So I recall one day I was near a teller who was helping a young fellow who looked at his receipt and said, “This is my balance?” and I looked at it and confirmed the amount to him; he seemed pleased and off he went. Not many his age usually kept a high balance in a regular checking account, but the very small note of surprise in his voice also tickled my brain — so I felt a little research was in order. I found his last transaction record in the computer from some days before, and looked at the teller’s physical records — finding the transaction actually belonged to a different account, just one digit off, which the teller had entered incorrectly. This deposit was for over $20,000! Otherwise, the kid’s account balance should have been more like $100. He KNEW it wasn’t his deposit, and that teller would have had to be fired if he drew out that money before the error was discovered. For that much, heck, maybe I would have been, too! I corrected it out and then called the kid to let him know that his balance was erroneous on his receipt after all. He replied, “Oh… ‘k, cool.” Then, it was just a small note of disappointment in his voice. I bet in the between time, he was fantasizing about what to spend it on….

Besides religion, what are some scams which are commonly used to deceive people?
QNET SCAM ...Experienced it recently, had a narrow escape...Thanks to Google .Here's the story !! A colleague of mine almost convinced me to take a personal loan of 5.5 Lakh within 2 days. Entire episode : Friday , 6th June : I shared about how I'm frustrated with my current work.Saturday : She fixes a meeting with her "business partner" , at KFC.Monday, 9th June : Being completely unaware about anything , I went on for it . A boy of my age comes up and tells me that his senior is going to talk to me .His words, "My senior is going to have a discussion with you . Don't go by her age , she is very senior in this business and earning a lot . You may have many questions but hold on till the end.". Questions from her : Why business ? What is your driving force ?Questions from me: Why private e commerce ? What products do u offer? No answer .She said "Hold your questions till the end." When the discussion ended , she went on to repeat the same sentences like the previous boy . "My senior is going to have a discussion with you . Don't go by his age , he is very senior in this business and earning a lot . You may have many questions but hold on till the end." . I could smell something fishy but did not react at all.So now comes , some "finance" guy , who shows me some pathetic calculations and tells me i can earn 5 crores in 5 years with an effort of 0.125% . Can you even imagine ? Why din't the world get convinced to earn with that little effort ? Then this girl steps again and tells me how lucky I am to meet Mr. XYZ , who bought a FIAT cash-down and how he left his job to become a full time businessman. ROFL ... I told my colleague that i need time to think . (Obvious isn't it ?) But no , they wanted to fast track my process before I get to know anything about their entire scam . She almost convinced me to take the loan . I submitted my documents too and then I had a weird feeling . My instincts were strong , so i checked all possible forums and found out how people were ruined with this SCAM. Today , 11th June : I told her about everything I read and asked her to be careful but of course, she wasn't convinced . I said , i would not be a part of it. My phone just buzzed with a text from her , "i want u to go thru some authentic links n then take ur decision n 1 more thing..if it is a scam then it won't be running from past 16 yr with sponsoring MCFC or IIFA awards or Formule 1 racing..or so.." I know she is completely unaware of the background or may be she is . The forum:Each and everyone has taken a loan and paid for some crappy holiday package or courses , etc, which are not even in an accessible condition. (Private portal) . Don't know how that works. Also the forums said that these people who talk to you are well-trained and i actually read an entire interview which was a replica of my discussion ,word-by-word. And I called up the agent from the bank asking him not to submit my documents. The most wise decision I have ever taken . Even if it is not , I do not want to be a part of any such organisation which asks me to be in a liability to earn asset . I'd rather believe in myself and take time to get richer. It is a scam .Lord save my colleague.

What is it like for an Indian to live and settle down in Japan?
Last year I got a chance to visit and stay in Japan for 3 months in Hiroshima. For this short period of time I experienced many new things, Here I would like to share some of my experiences/observations with you1. JR(Japan Railways) is one of the efficient railway systems in the world, "Shinkansen" the bullet train can travel up-to 280-320km/hr, always on time and in peak hours one can observe train every 2-5 mins(expensive). Taxi , Tram, Bus are commonly used transport. In Hiroshima with Tram in 150 jpy you can travel from any station to other (very cheap)For Buses:When you get on the BUS you will get a ticket printed with your boarding stop no. (e.g. "3")and in front there is board that displays fare for each stop. With each next stop fare increments so when ever you want to get down just see the fare shown against same (3) boarding stop no.2. Grocery store chain like Lawson, 7/11 are found everywhere. (not common in India)3. Like India, they drive on left hand side of the road. :-) Also there are no speed breakers on road. On signal opposite sides get green signal at a time unlike in India where only one side gets green signal at a time.4. There is no separate tap for drinking water , You can drink water from any tap.5. Everyone is called by their name ending with san to sound polite(ex. Neeraj-san), even for non living things :-) its like Indian "ji"6. In Hiroshima, most shops close by 8 pm !7. Many people use Bicycles, its common to see people going to office on bicycle , even Police8. You have to buy coin bag to keep coins , as here you will get many coins and it is difficult to keep them in wallet and best thing very rarely you are asked to give change9. Alcohol is very cheap as compared to India , so you can try many brands that you missed in India, Cheers ! also "Sake" which is Japanese alcohol10. on Footpath there are special tiles that helps blind people to follow path also on each square there are buzzers which turns on when signal is green !11. People greet very often, even you get used to it after some time :-)12. Very few people understand English , but anyway they will help you with best of their effort with little English they know ! It's good to learn some basic Japanese like counting, asking for directions so that its easier for you to communicate with people13.The Japanese understanding of Veg and Non-veg food is different from Indians. So even with Vegetarian food you might get sauce made of fish oil or dish with non-vegetarian item but lots of vegetables. You might find it difficult if you are veggie, If you don't have "Special needs" in type of Non-veg food as an Indian then you can enjoy Food here . Heaven if you like Sea food14. Most toll booths have ETC(Electronic Toll Collector) so no need to stop at Toll , just slow down15. I was working at Automotive company in Hiroshima, The guards used to greet us with "otsukare samadeshita"(thanks for your hardwork) when we used to leave for the day !16. This gesture means" girlfriend " in Japan17. Every 200-300m in city you will find " jido han baiki"(Vending Machine),mostly have different types of cold drinks, water, green tea etc.18. If Japanese people comes to know that you are "Indojin" (Indian) they will compliment you as "smart people" ! We have very good image of us there, felt proud19. Racism- Not at all , very kind people !20. Japanese people cannot pronounce "L".21. It is common practice in Japan to wear mask if one has cold or travelling on local transport/ groups etc.

Which country should I visit, Romania or Bulgaria?
I will try to be as impartial as I can, focusing on each country’s strengths.ROMANIARomania has the advantage when it comes to medieval towns and villages - many of them well-preserved examples of continental European (especially German) architecture of the Middle Ages. There is more variety than in Bulgaria - there are Orthodox monasteries, Catholic cathedrals, and Protestant churches.Above: Sibiu skylineAbove: Sighisoara streetRomania also has more interesting castles and fortress churches.Above: Corvin Castle, also known as Hunyadi CastleAbove: Evangelical fortified church of Cristian, Sibiu CountyFor mountain lovers, Romania has two breathtaking high-altitude roads which are probably more interesting than what you can find in Bulgaria.Above: Transfagarasan Road, leading to Balea LacAbove: Transalpina RoadFor birdwatchers and lovers of wildlife, exotic creatures take refuge in Romania’s protected Danube Delta - where small boats provide the only means of transport, and the only option to visit is through eco-tourism.Above: Danube DeltaAbove: pelicans in the Danube DeltaAbove: European bee-eater in the Danube DeltaIn terms of nightlife and cultural life, Bucharest - the capital of Romania - is the place to be. Sorry, Bulgaria!Above: George Enescu music festival (one of the top classical music events in Europe)Above: dancing in the streets of BucharestLast but not least, Romania’s alphabet and vocabulary (with a large influx of French words) might make things easier for Western travelers. I recently saw a picture of street sign with arrows pointing to three tourist destinations:Parcul Carol IGrădina BotanicăPalatul ParlamentuluiYou don’t have to be a great linguist to figure out that they refer to a park (Charles I), a botanical garden, and the Palace of the Parliament.Above: Romanian words “horoscop”, “hotel”, “restaurant”, “pizzerie”, written in a normal alphabet :-)BULGARIAIf you are a beach lover, Bulgaria definitely wins this battle. With few exceptions, Romania’s beaches are flat, whereas Bulgaria offers that magic combination of cliffs and water, offering stunning views. Even when the hill is not overlooking the sea, there is much more variety to Bulgaria’s well developed coastline.Above: AlbenaAbove: North Beach, SinemoretsBulgaria has more and better preserved remnants from the ancient world. In Romania, aside from some mosaics, partial walls, and a few ruins, you cannot find much from the ancient Greek or Roman world. In Bulgaria, more relics have withstood the test of time (and of invaders).Above: Roman Theater in PlovdivAbove: Beehive Tomb in PomorieIn terms of cuisine, Bulgaria has the advantage. For those who like to eat light and healthy, and those who enjoy seafood, they will have more options in a country which has a stunning variety of vegetable dishes and a long coastline. Drawing from Greek and Turkish culinary influences, Bulgaria has some of the best food in the world. For those who like to indulge, wine and rakia (fruit brandy) have been refined over thousands of years of trial and error, and are not inferior in any way to the more cleverly marketed French or Italian varieties.Above: delicious appetizersBulgaria has a stunning variety of small towns (under 500,000 inhabitants) which are definitely worth visiting.Above: Old Town in PlovdivAbove: NesebarAbove: SozopolAbove: Sozopol, a closer lookBoth Romania and Bulgaria are safe countries (in comparison to most of the West), and are similar in many ways. Bulgaria is a bit more compact and easy to navigate, but Romania has a well developed infrastructure allowing for easy travel by train (almost anywhere, even to small villages!), bus, or rental car.In conclusion, if what I wrote won’t help you make up your mind, visit both places!
