Help me with industry sign banking maine ppt later

hey there folks temps late here you know one of the really great things about articulate storyline is the ability to import PowerPoint slides directly into storyline and this is really great if your converting content that you've built let's say in articulate studio which is a PowerPoint based e-learning authoring tool and you want to bring those slides into storyline or maybe you're converting an instructor-led training into an e-learning course you want to bring those PowerPoint slides into storyline and turn into an e-learning course or maybe you're just more comfortable editing and designing content in PowerPoint and now you're ready to bring your content into storyline either way storyline makes it pretty easy to import PowerPoint slides into storyline however it's not always perfect and that's what I wanted to show you today I wanted to give you some tips and tricks for what does and does not import well into storyline so I have this sample PowerPoint deck that I've got ahead and built out here with some pretty basic slides so we have a title slide here and if I jump to slide two you can see we have some SmartArt that I've built and if we jump to slide 3 we have some images and then slide 4 we have some more images and text now I've also built out some animations and transitions on these slides so let's go ahead and jump into presentation mode to see what we have here all right here is our title slide with our text and if I advanced here is our slide with our smart art nothing special happening here continuing on here is our slide with our two images and you'll notice that when I advance to the next slide we have a morph slide transition happening there and then you also might have noticed that the text had an emphasis animation applied to that text as well all right so we have some things happening here in this deck now let's go ahead and jump over to storyline and import this PowerPoint file to see what happens so here I am in storyline and from my slides tab in the ribbon I'm gonna go to the import drop-down and select import PowerPoint and story lines going to ask us to locate a PowerPoint file which I have right here so we'll go ahead and select it and click open and what storyline is going to do is it's gonna read that PowerPoint file and show me a thumbnail for every slide contained within that PowerPoint file now default they are all selected so if I were to click the import button right now it would import all of these slides but you don't have to do that you could always select the none button to deselect all of the slides and then choose which ones you want to import in this case I'm going to select also all four slides will import and before I click import you'll notice with a couple of options down here at the bottom so we can import into a new scene or into the current scene so I'm going to import into the current scene and click import and what storyline is going to do is cerulean is gonna read that PowerPoint file and convert hopefully most of that content into editable shapes and text and images in storyline and that also includes any slide transitions and animations that I've applied to my objects so we'll sit here and we'll we'll give storyline a moment to import those slides alright so story line has finished importing our PowerPoint file and right off the bat you might notice that there is some extra space here at the top of our slide and on the bottom of the slide and this is because storyline by default gives us a slide aspect ratio of four by three however the slides that I imported were an aspect ratio of 16 by 9 so it's giving us this extra space at the top and the bottom of our slides that's not too great of course there's ways we can fix that I'll talk about that here at the end of our video if we continue on to slide 1.2 you'll notice that our slide title is kind of cut off here and I think that probably has to do with the aspect ratio of this the slides being distorted you'll also notice that our SmartArt is slightly distorted and it's also not editable it's actually converted the SmartArt into an image so we weren't able to import our SmartArt into an editable format continuing on to slide 1.3 we have the same issue with our slide title we do have our images here those are editable which is great also our text from slide 1.2 is editable as well and then if we continue on the slide 1.4 again same issues with our slide title being off our slide a little bit here and then also our text is editable now let's go ahead and preview this entire scene to see how those animations came over so I'm going to preview the entire scene all right so we didn't have any animations on our first line so I'll continue on to our next slide there were no animations here either and if I continue on to slide 3 if click the next button here we we did have that morph animation in the PowerPoint file but you'll notice that it did not apply that morph animation and that's because storyline doesn't support that type of slide transition we also don't have our text emphasis as well because storyline does not support emphasis animations so those are some of the things to watch out for when you're importing content from PowerPoint in the storyline which leads me to three tips that you always want to keep in mind when you're importing your content from PowerPoint into storyline tip number one is always check your slide size so you want to make sure that the the slide dimensions that you're importing from PowerPoint match the slide dimensions and storyline so in storyline you can edit your slide dimensions by going to the design tab and changing the story size so if I were to have changed this to sixteen by nine before I imported my PowerPoint slides this would not have been an issue for me the other thing that you always want to check for are any animations or slide transitions that you have built into your PowerPoint deck so on slide 1.3 here when I transition from this slide to slide 1.4 we didn't have our morph animation or our morph slide transition and that's because storyline doesn't support it usually what storyline will do is either remove the animation altogether or it will replace it with a fade animation or fade transition the same thing applies with the emphasis animation that was not supported in storyline so I didn't bring that over so you always want to check your animations to make sure that they're supported in storyline and then the final thing you want to check before you import is any smart art so story line did not import the smart art properly it brought it over but it brought it over as an image which we can't edit so you always want to make sure that you're checking your smart art and converting those to basic shapes and PowerPoint before you bring them over alright so those are three basic tips for importing from PowerPoint into storyline now whether or not you choose to import from PowerPoint to storyline is totally up to you you have to make the decision of whether or not it's worth your time to create your content and PowerPoint and then bring it over to storyline and have to check it all or just design directly in storyline it's completely up to you but hopefully those tips will make importing from PowerPoint to storyline a little bit smoother alright folks until next time thank you so much for watching and if you want to see some more of my great content check me out at Tim Slade com
