How Can I Use Sign in Box

(♪♪♪) Hi everybody welcome back. So today I'm going to be talking about your signing box. You're thinking what the heck is a signing box? Well really it's your signing space. So when you're using sign language, obviously it's a visual language. So, you move around and you have an area where you move your hands. Now just as I have a screen as you can see here, see just like that, you have a signing area that you're suppose to sign in most of the time. Now stay to the end because I'm going to give you a few special situations at the end where these rules don't really apply. So, in general for your signing space, or your box, you're gonna want it to be about your chest or breast level here, to the top of your head. Then I'd say about shoulder width, about there. So right about here and here. That's usually your signing space in most cases. If you're just signing signing everyday general stuff you kinda want to keep it within a certain general range. The reason for that is if you're signing let's say if you're signing outside of your box, so if you're signing box is here and you're signing way out here or up here, that's considered like yelling. So usually if you see somebody, usually it's angry, but if you see someone signing really big it's kind of like screaming so to speak, or yelling. If somebody is signing really tiny like this, tiny it's almost like mumbling or whispering or talking really quiet. So your normal voice would be this box, it's just easier for people to see if you're signing within a certain area. If you're signing really tiny it might be hard for people to see. Your movements aren't big enough. If you're signing really big, it's distracting and again people are not gonna be able to see because it's too much, it's distracting. So try your best to sign within your box here. Ok? Now the exceptions that I have are.... so. The times that you're gonna want to sign outside of your box or a lot bigger of a space is if you are let's say you're signing at a concert, or you're signing in a very big auditorium. Because obviously if people are much farther back from you they're not going to be able to see small sign small signs up by your body or even here. So even at that time you're gonna want to sign a little bigger but you're still not gonna want to sign way out here like past the screen where you can't see my hands. So you're still not gonna want to sign too big, but if you're working with groups that are far away or far, you're gonna want to sign a little bit bigger. Now another reason you're going to want to sign small like I said when you sign really small it's like whispering, so...
