guys we are going to just do a little another quick video here showing you how to do the split leather monograms in Adobe Illustrator I did this video already but as a graphic designer I'm used to using keyboard commands and I went a little too fast and I did some things just quickly with keyboard commands and didn't show things a little more slowly so let's open up our d here we'll go D for Darryl now got our file here we're going to go over to our type tool click it one click that's tight yeah I can then use my selection tool just to select it make it bigger here just for a second and we're going to go to our character change it two times bold I want to scale it inside of here now again just like before I've gotten a magnifying glass guy sort of zooming in I'm assuming you guys thought of zooming State they're just using keyboard commands like you're magnifying glasses over here so I want the seraphs just above the line here and just below the line here I think it looks that's when it looks the nicest now you can you can have a different effect like that so it cut its gonna cut like that show a bit of the serif I think that's a nice look too I personally prefer just below so there we go so we've got it all set here now the stuff that I missed last time I just did a keyboard command on that I need to show you guys is converting the font outlines very important step I did it with a keyboard command and that's where I messed up showing you guys so we are going to go to I'm going to keep our command hold on oh yeah type create outlines so now let's turn this font into outlines now we want to go to select all then we're going to open up our Pathfinder which is mine's already open so you got your Pathfinder tool here and right here is the unite option after you've got it all selected I'll select at all you've got your unite so we're gonna create this as one file all together if what's happening with some of you guys is you're leaving it like this and it's cutting along here and here and then it's kind of messing up your letters that's because you didn't unite it so we click unite and there we go we've got the file United now in order this would just be a and in grey because it's a solid fill so we want to go over here to our stroke and put a stroke black stroke on it get rid of the fill so we click the fill then you click this little nut now what I like to do is I like to put at point five stroke on everything zero point five points not inches and there you go save that file oh that's SVG file and you are good to go I hope that better explains the process I've also made a video for Inkscape as well I just downloaded Inkscape and figured it out quickly so if you guys use Inkscape you can check that it thanks
