[Music] hi everybody this is chris pagarian at the los angeles times in washington dc it is one day after election day and we still do not have the results of this year's presidential race but we do have a ton of misinformation to sort through about what the election results are what they mean and how the process works so let's walk through a few of the things that we're hearing and what the facts actually are we are up big but they are trying to steal the election we will never let them do it votes could not be cast after polls close this is a pretty typical comment from president he's been complaining about voter fraud for a very long time uh it's never been true and it's not true now there are no evidence that there is widespread voter fraud in american elections and in this case he is trying to cast doubts on the integrity of the process they're finding biden votes all over the place so bad for our country the key word here is finding it's not accurate to say that election officials are finding ballots like they're finding them in the couch questions or they're being dropped off surreptitiously or something like that what really they're doing is counting balance and sometimes ballots are counted in a different order that can make it look like the results are swinging from one candidate to another the results really aren't swinging from one candidate to another work is getting an incomplete picture at different points in time as they're going through all the balance box news is a complete outlier in calling arizona and other media outlets should not follow suit when people watch election results come in what they're seeing are media outlets projecting which candidate is going to win in which state doesn't mean that all the ballots are counted they're just saying statistically it's almost definitely going to be one candidate winning one state versus the other candidate so oftentimes campaigns try to keep momentum by urging media outlets calling races in their direction or the other direction and putting pressure on their opponent to concede but what's really important is where the final count winds up and that can take some time we have one pennsylvania that is certainly not clear by any stretch of the imagination they're still counting the dallas in pennsylvania and no media outlets or analysts have projected that president trump has actually won the state so oftentimes we've seen people around the president get ahead of where the numbers are how come every time they count mail-in ballot dumps they're so devastating in their percentage and power of destruction i think it's important to keep in mind that the president urged people to not vote by mail well we have to be very careful with the ballots the ballots that's a whole big scam while his opponent joe biden urged people to vote by mail so it's not unexpected to see a heavy democratic sku in the mail ballots once they start counting them so it's not surprising that this is happening uh partially because of the president's own political strategy so that's where we are right now we're still counting the ballots and we're still not sure exactly who the winner is going to be in the presidential race but stay tuned to latinx.com for more updates as we keep going
