Add byline image
for this lesson what we're going to work on is reviewing the basic um google slides tools we've practiced for the past couple weeks so what we're going to begin with first is we're going to look at looking at this page if you'll notice we have a basic presentation this one we'll be working with it's called three little pigs it's a basic retelling of the story the three little pigs and as you notice just to scroll down through the slides that we have it is very very basic the words are there and ultimately it's very unattractive so what we're going to do is we're going to work on how to make this a more presentable presentation something worth looking at and then we'll get into basic animations as well we will notice we have the title three little pigs and also a little byline so what we want to do is review this tool of inserting a background since this story is about three little pigs what i can do is i can do choose an image and as always we're going to do a search if you remember what i have asked you to use is the word cartoon as a search term because it will really help us find something that is more related to kid-friendly backgrounds for this presentation so we're going to notice we have a pretty little farm we could do anything you know we could have the farm show up we actually have one large pig here but basically what we'll do let's just for uh demonstration purposes we're going to choose this one we're going to select this background very basic and we notice that through little pigs the title is a little bit hidden now so what we could do is we can highlight our text and then we can actually work with it to make it stand out we could give it a highlight background color give it something to where our title will actually stand out a little bit and still really blends in we talked about contrasting and also conflicting colors last time so what we could do instead of using this nasty yellow use some little brighter we'll change it to red we'll see if our title stands out and we notice it really does the three little pigs and of course we can do the same thing with our title uh with our byline rather but what we will do now since we have a title three little pigs and well we have no pigs at all we need to go ahead and insert an image and we're going to do the same thing with search the web when we go to search the web we're going to search for again remember our term of cartoon we're going to search for a cartoon pig several to choose from i like these clueless looking pigs but again what we'll do just to make sure it's something we can truly use when we click on the magnifying glass magnifying glass brings up our sample and we notice that it has this little grid around it which tells me that it is a good choice because it has the grid around it it will come into our presentation very well so it is a good choice so i'm going to insert now this is not the one little pig this store is called three little pigs so if you recall one of the tools we practiced last week we looked at how to copy and paste so what we're going to do since we have our piggy highlighted here we're going to do is going to press ctrl c for copy press ctrl v for paste and we'll press ctrl v again to make ourselves a third pig and again we don't want to make too many steps so anytime we can copy and paste our presentations it makes it a lot more effective and also a lot quicker so what we can do now we notice we have a nice little title page but now it is time to start our story once upon a time there were three little pig brothers and we notice again that we have a very basic background nothing really interesting so we can go to backgrounds again and as always you know we want to use cartoon and again our search is still in here so cartoon farm is still available so we can go with just something kind of barren something sort of plain insert our image and if you notice we have this little now again we need our cartoon pigs so we're going to look at inserting our cartoon pigs again since this the one we chose last time we'll choose it again and if you remember the steps we can sure speed up this presentation by using what we call copy and paste what we'll do is we'll simply we'll simply shrink this pig down make him a little more i guess you'd say usable here for this story control c is copy control v is paste we need three pigs so control v again we can move these pigs around and what you are basically doing you're making your presentation a little more attractive with every keystroke everything we add we're making this presentation a lot more attractive now we're going to take this a bit further we've already practiced how to insert text recolor text resize text insert backgrounds and also insert images but for this tutorial what we're going to focus on is how to animate basic images within your google slides so what i'm going to do is we are going to click on a pig that we want to animate we're going to click on an image and there are a couple ways to bring up the animation option but we're going to go to just click on the pig and we go to insert we go down to animation remember animation is something that brings it to life in some sort of way and in this case google slides will allow you to move the items around if you'll notice it tells us what we're about to animate and instead of a pig fading in i think a little more natural if the pig would maybe fly in from left and we don't want him to come in on click because we don't want to touch the keyboard to make him move in so we're going to put after previous which means after the slide appears this pig will fly in we can see what it's actually going to do so whenever we play our presentation this pig's going to fly in from the left so now we notice we have one pig animated now let's go to another we'll click on the next item we want to animate click add animation [Music] we don't want him to fade in let's have him to fly in from right and again not on click but after previous and while we're here we'll animate our third pick we'll add an animation and we want him to fly on from left why not and now we want after previous when we watch our presentation now we're going to notice all of our pigs come into our scene one two three and again the timing's not bad because if you notice we have a story called the three little pigs and if i read this once upon a time there are three little pig brothers and if you notice the end of our animations ends about the time we finish reading our text so now what we need to do we have a whole story to work with they all went their way to make their homes so basically what we're doing step by step is dressing up this presentation of the three little pigs you can create your own stories you can use a story template you can create your own from scratch you can go back to some old fables folktales such as i've done here and create some really nice animated google slide presentations that make your stories a lot more than just a simple flat page but it actually makes it something really entertaining and fun to try so make sure that whenever you open your google slides write your stories insert your backgrounds your images then begin to animate have fun
