hey welcome to another episode of camping camera we got a little something different we're going to do today we're going to look at a teardrop regular camper hybrid [Music] hey welcome back everyone if this is your first time here welcome to the channel and if it's been a little while since you stopped by where the heck have you been we're glad to see you back today we're going to do something a little different we're going to middle tennessee to see a 1973 vintage shasta travel trailer but this is not just any 73 shasta this thing has been restored and as i understand it's been converted into a teardrop camper this could be super cool so let's get down the road and check out this shasta [Music] so we have made it down here to middle tennessee and we're with matt pelham and your 73 shasta that you've converted into a teardrop now you you said there's actually another name beside shasta what did you call that it's a shasta compact a shasta compact which means what well it's their smallest camper i'm pretty sure that's the smallest camper they made it's 13 feet from the tongue to the back and 10 feet of actual okay so yeah that is a pretty tiny campaign by seven actually i like the 73 because it's almost the year that i was born i'm not trying to give myself my age but it's almost the year i was born the bad thing is though this thing's already needed a facelift so what does that tell you about me yeah i'm right there all right so how about showing us this little thing let's walk around here so when we got this uh we thought it wasn't gonna need a whole lot of work my wife and i were both looking for a like a you know an older camper we liked the aesthetic of older campers and wanted one to take our family camping and uh we got it we're super excited about it and then we started working on it and found out that it needed to be completely rebuilt i bet it had some water leaks in it yeah it had all kinds of water damage so you know us being first time camper buyers we had gotten ourselves into more than we expected and uh that's what we did we just tore it all the way down and and uh instead of being really gung-ho we gung-ho we kind of let it sit for a couple of years before we oh you understand that yeah did you were you able to reuse the metal on it yeah all the all the skin is original so you've got the original logo i imagine and probably the original rv america plaque on there yeah most of the plaques are original there's a few on the back side that are covering just holes and yeah you know from oh...
