hi folks Steve from Martel training group just wanted to do a quick update on the video that I did not that long ago on how to add a handgun to your existing permit to carry in New Jersey now I did mention this in the previous video that every County seems to be doing things differently and I recommended that you reach out to your Police Department or the court to inquire as to what they want some courts want you to do a new application some course just say forward the paperwork of the new firearm with qualification proof and the judge will amend the order it's different and unfortunately that's the way it is right now all there's 21 counties in New Jersey it seems like all 21 are doing something differently now let me just right off the bat say what I think it should be like it is I think it should be the way it is for leosa which is an acronym for law enforcement officer safety act which is the act enacted by Congress which allows qualified active and retired Law Enforcement Officers to carry in all 50 states and under leosa if you qualify with a semi-automatic for example you can carry any semi-automatic so if you have five different semi-automatics you qualify with one you can carry any five of them same if you qualify with a one revolver you can carry any revolver that you legally own under leosa that's how I think it should be in New Jersey now I'm not an attorney I'm a retired New Jersey state trooper I was a trooper for 25 years and I worked in Firearms prior to retiring according to njsa 2c584 and the NJ AC Administrative Code 1354 2.4 description for applying for a permit to carry you are required to submit proof of ownership proof of safe handling of firearms and qualification from a certified Firearms instructor for each and every firearm you intend to carry it's specific so the problem is some judges I'm told like in South Jersey Cumberland County I believe are telling people when they get these permits that now it is a judge's order unless they change that and they they may do that with all these permits that are being issued it's a judge's order so I'm being told that some judges are saying to the recipient in court or in the order you can carry any legal firearm that you own that this to me is against the statute and the administrative code because I don't know why if that was the intent they didn't put that in the original statute maybe it needs to be updated all I'm saying to you is if a judge tells you if you qualify with one semi-automatic that means you can carry any semi-automatics you own if a judge says that and puts that in the corridor then have at it I think that's how it...
