so if you're new to consulting you probably realize by now there is something that is vitally important for a new consulting business and that is the ability to sell your services and a component of that is being able to put together really good client proposals that's what we're going to talk about this week [Music] so if you're new to consulting maybe you've just started up your consulting business maybe you're thinking of starting up a consulting business one of the things that you've got to be really comfortable with is selling and i've got some videos on the channel about sales in consulting i'll put some links down below to those i won't go into it now you know a lot of people don't like selling let me just say this if you don't enjoy sales and doing it in a supportive consultative way you ain't going to make it as a consultant because you're not going to be able to sell your services now one of the really important parts of consulting sales is the client proposal and certainly in most b2b environments certainly with larger corporates they're going to expect a formal proposal from you and they're probably going to be getting proposals or quotes from a number of different consultants so what are the important parts of a consulting proposal i'm not going to go into it in in my new detail but i really just want to share with you some of the core sections of a proposal and why they're important so i've got seven for you let me just run through those fairly briefly so first of all i just want to say one thing the consulting proposal is not about you it's about the client just get that head that sort of thought in your head for a moment um if i'm reading a consulting proposal and it's all about you know the consultants and how wonderful they are i kind of you know i want it to be about me the client and how they're going to help me so bear that in mind as i'm running through these these seven sections so in no particular order or priority number one you have got to demonstrate knowledge what kind of knowledge knowledge of the clients industry and knowledge of their particular issues so if you're consulting architects for example which i know nothing about and you're putting a bid in to build a hospital you need to be able to show that you have worked on a lot of public infrastructure projects before that you've built hospitals before or designed hospitals before because they're not going to accept somebody who's never done it before now that's always pretty tough isn't it when you're starting out consulting but if you look on the channel i think i've got a video called fake it till you make it which is not quite as grass as it sounds but it's always a...
