personal documents list then look at acronyms delve into smart paste and finally how to use these features while entering documents in SCM you will be entering several notes on your patients you may search for documents by title or select them from lists you can build a personal list of documents you frequently use for quick access you must have a patient selected to build your list any patient will do click preferences on the menu bar and then document entry click on plus signs to drill down to your desired documents select and click Add documents do you know with an asterisk in the filename consists of a single free text box and are designed for use with smart paste templates click close when finished adding documents now when you click on enter document icon the window will open to your personal documents list acronym expansion allows you to use abbreviations for terms or phrases which expand when you press the spacebar enterprise acronyms or abbreviations that are used by all services for example QD for daily in addition to these each person can create unique new acronyms or import acronyms created by others new acronyms can be added to your profile at any time by clicking on the Preferences menu and selecting acronym expansion click the Add button to begin creating new acronyms beginnings acronym with a period this will avoid accidental expansion if the combination of letters appears at the end of a word we suggest they be no more than three or four characters in length press the tab key or click in the expanded text area type the phrase the acronym represents acronym expansion allows for the use of placeholders by entering four number signs in your text click apply to add another new acronym to your list repeat the process click OK when done click import from other users to find acronym saved by others search for someone in your service by last name and select them from the drop-down list check the acronyms you wish to add to your list and click OK click OK when done click OK to close the dialog box smart paste goes hand-in-hand with the UK snapshot tab and enables clinicians to quickly and efficiently import data from different areas of the patient's chart into documents to use smart paste click in the free text portion of any UK snapshot tile or any note and press the f6 key located in the top row of your keyboard smart pace can pull in vital signs lab results medications and text from other documents among other things click on or type the number associated with the option you would like to select the snapshot and notes option opens a different menu allowing you to copy and paste from the snapshot tab tiles or other notes be aware that the information in the snapshot tab disappears for hours after the patient is discharged and must be saved in a note or it will be lost patient notes are listed in chronological order and can be filtered by note type the document type top and this content of the note are below the list so you can copy and paste selected text into the current note or snapshot area note never copy an entire note the note drafts option allows for one note to be auto saved and one note manually saved after 30 seconds of an activity the last section of your note will be auto saved if you are in a note and want to save the last section you were working in you can click on save draft to recover either auto or manually saved information click on load Draft smart based templates provide for complete and accurate documentation in your notes check with your service for the specific templates to use with your notes to access templates select note templates then my templates to find templates and add them to your list select modify templates then click on template in the menu and select search other providers templates search for the template by keyword or author open it and review it in the editing window click the Save icon and then save template give the template an appropriate name and click OK close out of smart paste clicking on the red x's now will apply what we have just seen to create a history and physical note open the patient's chart and click on the enter document icon in the main toolbar select the appropriate note from your personal documents list assign the note to your attending by setting them as a cosigner through the document info tab select from the list of current providers if their name is not on the list click other and search by last name the required content of your note is displayed scroll down and click in the free text box tap the f6 key to open smart paste choose option number nine note templates then my templates and select the appropriate one smart paste populates the fields in the template with current data from the chart read through the document to edit it move to a blank line and enter the name of your acronym to populate your placeholders place your cursor at the beginning of the document and tap the f12 key type over the placeholder then repeat the process document in all the fields click Save a warning will pop up if there are uncharted required fields open the sections tab to navigate to the location of the missing data service or team is required check the box and select from the drop-down you saving the note as incomplete will allow further editing by you before the attending receives it this
