hi there it's easy to forget to track equipment and charges during the busy day but these things can add up and capturing them on the ticket so that they can be built to the customer is just as easy as entering your time let's say you've entered your time and set a tickets status to complete before remembering to track your ticket charges it'll still be easy to find in your recent items list to add a charge I can just click the icon that looks like a little price tag right here but first let's take a quick look at the charges and expenses tab to see what we've tracked and what's missing okay so we've remembered the hard drive but forgot to track the memory in the cat5 cable let me click the new charge button here the charge window can be populated from two lists the product list and the material codes list this may be a little confusing at first because when you select a product the material code field is populated as well that's because in Auto task you can use the material code as sort of a generic billing code for stuff that you don't want to put on your product list most items though should be on your product list so I'll click the selector icon here and find the cat5 cable as you can see all the required fields are now populated if I need to I can change the quantity here our accountant doesn't want me to touch any of the numbers so I'll click Save and close and here it is added to the list of charges an even easier way to track a charge is to add it when I create a time entry if I scroll below the summary and internal notes section I can add a charge right there note however then I can only pick from the material code list not the product list and I will only see material codes here that have been configured to be available as a quick charge by an administrator this method is so quick and easy that there is really no reason not to track a charge if you don't see the ad charge section on your time entry window check out this article in the online help it tells your administrator how to make material codes available as a quick charge and that's how easy it is to add charges to tickets if you want to find out how to get reimbursed for expenses like mileage check out our video on adding expenses to a ticket thanks for watching
