hey guys I've been getting a lot of people asking me about model releases is it worth it should I have it and if so how do I use it the answer is yes yes you definitely should have a model release if you're working with models it's important because it protects you as a photographer so that you can put that image on your website or you can use it for whatever model releases will say different things but it just protects you so that you can use it without the other person getting upset about it so yes you Stephanie should have it and the way I do it is I use an app that's available on iPhone and iPad not sure if it's available on Android yet but it's called easy release it's a fantastic app it may wish you to fill out your model releases without having to use paper I can just simply hand my iPhone or my iPad to the client and they fill in their details and that's how they do it and I'm going to show you how how it works right now okay so the first thing you're going to need to do is you're going to need to go to the app store and you're going to type in easy release I've already done that here and I've already downloaded it it's about six or seven pounds quite an expensive app but it's really worth it and so I've already installed that so I'm just going to hit open and this will be the main screen that pops up so right here will be all of your model releases in the past I've only used one on here because I'd mainly use this on my iPhone so I've only used one on my iPad while I've had it but I'm using my iPad today just to show you as it's a bigger screen okay so this is where all of your model releases would be if you go down here to the Settings tab and this is where you can put all of your settings your name your email address your signature your app so you can sign the signatures so that you don't need to do it every time and put what kind of model release you want how you want it to email to the clients so that'll make a bit more sense later on so once you've done all of that just hit back and now if you want to add a new relation just hit the plus icon up here and what's cool about this is it's not only model released it's also property release but as I'm not really interesting property I'm just going to hit a new model release and so you've got the built in you've got a built in model release or you can customize it this is the great thing about it you don't have to use those you can word it in a different way so I'm gonna use my Tommy model release because I've already taken the standard and adapted it so that it works for me and so Tommy release is already is already ticked so I'm just going to go next shoot names this could be who you're photographing for example so I'm just going to put test and the shoot reference that could be the invoice number or it could be the number of shoots that let's just say this is my first one so I'm just gonna say this is shoot ID 1 ok shoot location so where I'm filming this I am at home in England and I am in Kent the shoot date I'm gonna be today Sunday March 22nd and just hit next the model name it's going to be Joe Bloggs their address I'm just going to leave that for now but you can put all that in contact email so true blogs at hotmail calm their phone number their date of birth the reason why you put their date of birth is to check whether they're under certain age whether they need a parent to sign this as well so if you are photographing children and it is under a date of birth I'm not actually sure what it is I'm assuming it's a teen I don't know this map might be American I'm not too sure what the rules in America are but if it's under a certain age you will need to get a parent to sign this so I'm going to say in these whoops say his date of birth was 1983 you ever handle a mother in the doll gender male let's see he's Asian and hit next okay now you're going to need to take a picture of them so your camera already launches I'm just going to complete turn it up so you just take a picture there's a picture of me witness name and so my dad is in the other room so John he's going to be the witness and then that's ready to go and it just needs a signature now from Joe Bloggs so we can see we've got all of his information here we've got Joe Bloggs the language version the version sets my my model release as all the details here so the model just needs to sign so here is my model model release tap to agree and then he signs it Jill well that was awful blogs waiver okay the witness signs it and yep tap to agree and Joe and then we scroll up and it says status ready to send so if we hit that and there it is in summary so there's my model release there is the photographer which is me that's my signature the date of the shoot is every information on here is all here and what's great about it is I can hit email and when I hit email that will send this model release to Joe Bloggs and myself so that we both have a copy of it or you can print it as well if you're connecting wirelessly to a printer so if I go to email email me you or both so say both and then that automatically pops up your mail and it's got my email and it's got Joe Bloggs as email and I've just hit Send and that is done now if I go back to easy release you can see that that has now been added to my list of easy releases and that's it it saves you so much time there's no paperwork involved it's all done electronically I can be I can have a client in my studio just before I photograph them I can just hand them my phone and they just fill out the the wizard that I went through fill out all the information I'll take a picture of them and get them to sign it and then I'll send them a copy of my model release to them as well and that is that is it it's so simple and it's so important to have a model release because you it's just protects you at the end of the day and that's about it thank you very much checking out this video guys if you liked
