greetings and salutations welcome to student planning registration I will be your host for this video the one and only Joe of the Fine Arts Center in this video we are going to go over how to register a student for classes to begin you need to log in to colleague self-service and click our friend the advising button here please note my screen will look slightly different because I am using our testing version of the program for demonstration purposes on this screen either select one of the students to have been assigned to you or type the name of the student here again for convenience you can just type the first three letters of the students first and last name I will be using Michelle tests one of our simulation students for this demonstration once their name comes up just click view details to begin after their page opens you will be on the course plan section automatically to start the registration process we need to move over to the course catalog tab here either scroll down the page to find the subject of the class the student wants to take or you can type it here in Michelle's case she needs additional math courses for her degree so she has decided to take a math course it turns out Michelle is not afraid of math and is pretty good at it in fact so she has decided to jump right into college algebra ah girl after my own heart we scroll down to mathematics and click you will then need to look for the course they want to take once you've found it click on view available sections here this will then list all available sections for the current semester you are selected in this section shows you the section number in the course name the number of open seats the days and times the section is offered it also shows the location the class will be in and the instructor so you just look for a section time that the student will be happy with if you would like more information on the course you can click the section title in blue which will bring up this handy dandy information window like so in this window it shows you all the information from before but also adds in credit worth how the course is graded any requisites a description of the course any additional course fees and textbook information Wow this is a very helpful page I wish I had all this info when I was registering for my college courses once you're ready to add the class we just click on the blue add section to schedule button here and then add section when the program has completed adding it you will see this green box up in the top right hand corner however it is important to note that the student is not registered for the class yet once you have added all of the courses the student wants to take for the semester head on back over to the course plans section here we can see all of the courses that you have added to their plan you will notice that there may be green checks next to some of the courses this signifies that these courses have been registered already the courses you have just added will not have these checks if you don't happen to see the correct courses you just added make sure you are on the right semester by using the arrow keys here if everything looks good and you are ready to register the student you just click this big blue register now button here this button will only be available during each student's designated registration period if registration is not open the button will not be seen clicking register now will enroll the student in all of the courses that are planned on their schedule as long as seats are still available once registered you will see the green check under the course and the message registered but not started and that's it the student is now registered congratulations you made it I hope this has helped guide you through the registration process if you have questions please contact student services thank you and happy registering
