um today I'm going to talk about uh individual income tax um my name is Dan and I've been with revenue for about 10 years now with the 2022 Forum Illinois 1040 as of now there's not a lot of major changes to go over um this year um there's mainly cosmetic changes and some other minor things to go over mostly the federal line references if anything changed on the federal return we change the line references for Illinois in the exemption allowance on line 10 um increased and then on step 12 we have an addition in Step 12 there is now a check box uh authorizing idor to provide you with uh provide your information for health insurance eligibility to other State offices um and to get you information from the state health benefits exchange this is part of Public Act 1020799 we would be able to by checking that box we'd be able to share your con contact and income information with the Department of Health Care and Family Services and the Department of Insurance in order to provide information to you and about your eligibility for in health insurance benefits uh the information provided to you will also include health insurance enrollment options the information shared with the other state agencies shall be kept confidential and used only in determining your eligibility for those benefits and again that is in Step 12 it's a small check box there on line 41. um it's not required to be checked but if you want it shared with dhfs and Department of Insurance you can check that continuing the exemption allowance increased to 2425 dollars for the tax year 2022 um and just as a reminder if your federal filing status is married filing joint and your federal adjusted gross income is greater than five hundred thousand you are not entitled to an exemption allowance on line 10. you would just enter zero there on line ten if your federal filing status is anything else um that threshold is 250 000 and again you wouldn't be entitled to that exemption allowance if you are over that 250 000 if you have anything other than married filing joint there have been some minor changes to the form Illinois 1040x amended individual income tax return most of the changes are cosmetic to make it resemble the Illinois 1040 in formatting the major change you'll see is at the top of the Illinois 1040x you'll no longer see the section asking for the federal finalization dates and the reason for amending the Illinois 1040. these were all moved to the back page uh toward the bottom and you'll see this section asking for federal finalization dates and the reason for amending the Illinois 1040 are now located in Step 11 versus the top of the form on the front page the signatures in third party designee are now located in Step 12 of the Illinois 1040x the Illinois 1040x is now...
