of our program here in arizona one of the exciting updates that we made today it is not or this week that is not reflected on our chart it will not be reflected until tuesday um but uh arizona made the decision that arizonans 65 years of age and older are now prioritized to be vaccinated against covid19 um you can find additional information on our website at azhealth.gov find vaccine and um on tuesday we will be updating that to provide clarity about which counties are going to be vaccinated the 65 to 74 year old age group at their vaccination sites that was dr carrick christ the director of the arizona department of health services the state's decision to open up covet 19 inoculations to people who are between 65 and 74 years of age has complicated matters for the county's health department and likely the public according to alicia thompson the kochie's health and social services director the main issue is that right now there are not enough doses to be put into people's arms on thursday afternoon a frustrated thompson said health departments across arizona had just learned of the state's decision to add more people to the phase 1b priority list now local health officials are struggling scrambling and working as fast as possible to administer the vaccine thompson said her office has been flooded with phone calls from angry citizens who are frustrated and confused with the process the herald's review has also been hit with a deluge of calls from readers who say they are having a tough time registering and getting someone to answer the hotline that was set up last week for people who are 75 and older despite the challenges thompson said she wanted to give a shout out to the teams that are administering the vaccine across cochise county she said so far 1413 people 75 and older have been vaccinated according to her that group and that group only will continue receiving shots until january 22nd on january 23rd the rest of the individuals who qualify under phase 1b as well as people between the ages of 65 and 74 can begin getting inoculated however it will all hinge on how many doses of the modern vaccine cochise county receives thompson wants people to know that just because they've opened it up to more people does not mean that they have the vaccines available she says she wishes she could wave a magic wand and produce 50 000 doses of the vaccine phoenix he went on to serve in the united states army and was a veteran of the vietnam war where he served with the first cavalry division during his distinguished career he received numerous awards including the parachutist badge the republic of vietnam campaign medal vietnam service medal national defense service medal and the air medal he also served with both the 82nd airborne division and the 101st airborne division philip married naoma leader in 1986 in glendale as a young man he supported the salvation army as a volunteer he was also a member of the national rifle association and the pueblo del sol country club philip worked many years in corporate america in several different industries he finally retired in 2010 as a senior director for cvs caremark he was well known and loved by his employees as not just a manager but as a leader a mentor and counselor philip was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt fish travel and play golf with his family and friends he will be greatly
