okay so you are working on a very fun project in After Effects CC and then you accidentally closed the composition panel and whoa where is my work and then trying to fix that you move things around and things look even more messy and now you are frustrated you are wondering okay how do I get things back to normal the way they were so that I can resume my workflow easy and easy fix all you have to do let's go on top where it says windows right here window and then hover the cursor on the workspace and then you will see a list of workspaces and most likely you'll be on default but whatever workspace you are on this setting right here will change so in my case here I'm on default so here it says we said we set default to save layout okay so you're going to click on that and for example if you want paint it would say we said paint to save layout if you and minimal we would say we said minimal to save layout and so on so choose this setting right here and then click it and that should bring things back to normal default is usually best so there it is that should fix your problem now in many cases when After Effects we set things back to normal the timeline right here is pretty hard to work with especially if you are doing motion graphics where all the motion matters so what you want to do is make sure you take this slider right here from the timeline and then drag it to the left and you see your composition will be a lot easier to work with okay now in very rare cases sometimes where things might happen because After Effects lets you safely a layout because you can make changes to a layout and then save it now in rare cases this might happen where you accidentally move things around and you messed up we default layout and then you saved that messed up default layout so how do you think that well all you have to do is go to window again and then go to workspace and then to something else so you can choose something like all panels and there you go you choose a packet from there you can uncheck off the panels that you don't need and that's it this is how you get around that and you can also move things around accordingly and that's it but it's so this is a very rare case and just resetting things to default layout should do the job so thanks for watching and please subscribe
