E signature branding questionnaire
before designing your logo your websites your store or even your packaging you need to determine your brand identity you got to figure out your brand colors the shape of your log of what sets your branding apart and how you want to be described visually more questions than answers designing a brand identity can be a stressful process and it's about time we make it fun today I'm going to ask you nine playful questions to help you determine the elements of your brand identity coming up hello guys Hamza here with brand new dreams and on this channel we talked everything branded for small businesses just so you know this video required little bit of working time so please show some support and hit that subscribe button and hey any point during this video check out the links in description I wrote a blog post on the topic and all the show notes and bullet points are there for you to review and share now let's dive in so if you're developing your small business or your rebranding your existing business you need to design your brand identity and what is a brand identity it's the tools and elements used by you to create your brand image it's the logo the design the toned tagline the typeface these key differentiators is how our brains recognize friends so whether you're doing this yourself we're gonna hire somebody else to do it you need to have a plan and that's why I created this questionnaire this is a playful guide to help you get things started now let's get to it so question number 1 what colors represents your brand so when you think of your brand what colors come to mind color conveys a whole lot of emotions red is the color of passion yellow is the color of optimism blue is trust green they say is the color of health and wealth so there are some playful colors there are some serious colors there are warm colors there are cold colors oh and let's look at big brands for example Netflix has that red which is kind of the color of excitement Taco Bell has the purple which purple typically conveys creativity guess which color is Whole Foods of course they have that green McDonald's has that yellow which is kind of like a playful color so all these things fall under the umbrella of what designers call the psychology of color and I know it sounds a little bit serious but it shouldn't be really it's all about communication so what are you trying to communicate using color so think of it that way you picking colors for your brand is super important but because it's gonna help with so many your brand identity include in your blog or your website your social media content your packaging etc so yeah and when you think of your brand what colors come to mind question number two what shape encompasses your brand so similar to the psychology of color there's also the psychology of shape this is gonna help a lot actually with the local development process if you just look at big brands they've always used shapes of course Delta Airlines for example has the uppercase Greek letter Delta which just looks like a triangle Domino is another example it just has like a domino which is like that rectangle and there's sacred geometry all around us just look up the Fibonacci sequence but let's not get too trippy just think of it this way if when you think of your brand kind of like what shape comes to mind do you see your brand as a square or do you see your brand as a circle you see a pyramid or do you see a sphere so question number three what adjectives come to mind when you think of your brand are you thinking bold are you thinking minimal I did actually did some research online about like how brands usually describe themselves and I found the words like adorable athletic dynamic efficient elegant inspiring relaxed and calm so yeah when you think of your brand's kind of like what three adjectives that come to mind or like three words or how would you describe your brand in like three words this reminds me of Jeff Bezos on before he named Amazon Amazon he was gonna name it relentless and if you go to relentless calm you will actually be redirected to Amazon so that's how he that's how he envisioned his brand that's how he looked at his brand that's how he looked at his brand in at his business as relentless so question number four what is your mantra the mantra of Apple for example is think difference it's kind of like the short version of your mission statement it's it's like it can be your tagline or your slogan it's that one thing that you say that the more you say it the more impact it has it's that gift that keeps on giving so what is that thing that you say that will empower you and empower your brand that will reinforce the message of your brand question number five what fonts fit your brand and most or who are the best fonts for your brand if you've ever used a computer I'm sure you dabble with fonts a little bit whether you're writing an email or you're designing a wedding invitation some fonts resume or more than others it's similar to the psychology of color and the psychology of shame there's also the psychology of typography so there are like modern fonts and there are like classical fonts we're gonna need couple fonts a primary font and a secondary font this is gonna help a lot with your logo your website your marketing materials so yeah do a little bit of research online and see kinda like what fonts you think will fit well with your branding question number six what is the spirit animal of your brand this is just like on other playful questions to help you see like where your mind is at Ferrari has that like black horse on the logo Jaguar has a Jaguar Geico has the gecko is more like a brand ambassador but that still counts to a question number seven and who is your dream brand ambassador this is just like a hypothetical question if you had the marketing budget to hire any dream brand ambassador who would it be are you gonna go the route of I don't know Justin Bieber are you gonna go the route of a Johnny Depp for example or maybe you want to be your own dream bread ambassador oh maybe your personal brand ties in with your business small business brand and you want to be your own dream of brand ambassador is it so this is just another playful question to see kind of like where your mind is at question number eight who is your tribe so your tribe it's not just the people buying in from you it's not just your target market it's also the people working for you so that's your employees and it's also the people consuming your content which is your audience and your social media following who is gonna be your demographic who's gonna be the demographic for this brand and who's what is gonna be the interests of this demographic so how is your brand is gonna cater to this demographic question number nine which top five brands inspire you the most I'll give you mine mine is Apple Canon Tesla Airbnb and Burt's Bees I love these brands because I love their branding it's not just because I love their products I also love their branding I love their services I love the people working for these brands I love how they package their products and services I love how to deliver these products and services I love their messaging I love their content so these are my top five brands and this question is gonna help a lot understand kind of like which brands you aspire to be and which brands you want to learn from and maybe become one day you never know yes and these are my nine questions for today I hope you guys got some value out of this information again this is just a playful guy to help you get things started when you're designing your brand identity sometimes it can be really hard and yeah you don't know the answers to so many questions and you don't know what questions you should be even asking in the first place so I hope this helped whether you're doing this yourself we're gonna hire a designer to do it I think this is key because it can be really good start you can send them this form the form is actually in the links in the description you can just download it and fill it out and yeah let me know if you have any questions and yeah I really appreciate every time yeah and I hope you guys have fun I know I did yeah I think that's it
