[Music] hopefully most people have seen stephen covey's time management matrix i was re-listening to his book this morning and another thing clicked with me if a person is spending most of their time in quadrant one the fire fighting zone any remaining time they have is spent in quadrant four also known as the distraction zone why is this because the urgent and important matters of quadrant one are so tiring you won't have the energy to do anything other than the quadrant four stuff we're all learning aren't we and over the years i've become increasingly focused on how i use my time i remember when i first started with action coach being in a session that was entitled something like the diary of an emerald coach now an emerald coach is something to aspire to and this gave a real insight into the focus organization and discipline required to operate at this level there was a rhythm to the month you could see that time was being allocated to the important things it really was a work of art here's the big insight if i were to ask you what your goals were for the year and i then had the opportunity to place a bet on whether you'd hit them or not where do you think i would go for the evidence on which to base an opinion your diary my question now to all clients is if i were to take a mystery tour into your diary what would i see would i be able to tell just by looking at your diary if you were as focused organized and disciplined as you needed to be and to allow you to achieve your goals so what about you is your diary something you're proud of something you kinda use or something that's just alien to you [Music]
