Add Insurance Plan countersign
good morning everybody happy Friday to you once again I took last week off from doing the video so I hope everybody didn't miss me too much out there but anyway this week I've got a really important hot topic to discuss with you guys we get questions again all the time on when you go to add your son or daughter to your auto insurance policy what kind of impact is that gonna make on your premiums and people freak out all the time you know it's it's a pretty known fact that your rates are gonna go up quite a bit when you do add your your teenager onto your car insurance policy but I wanted to talk to you about a couple of different ways that you could help minimize that cost my first piece of advice to you would be to if at all possible resist the urge to add another vehicle to your policy and the reason I say that is when you go to add that third vehicle along with a third driver most insurance companies are gonna have to rate your teenager as a primary driver of that one particular vehicle and I completely understand you know the convenience factor of it you know adding a third vehicle on to your policy so if you absolutely have to buy a car for your teenager to get to and from school to and from sports practices you know whatever the case may be don't go out there and purchase a brand-new 2018 vehicle that's gonna require full coverage if you can get by with it go with an option an older vehicle you know maybe under five thousand dollars that may not require a full coverage because if we can do that and just put liability only on that one particular vehicle that your son or daughter is driving and just do liability only that right there could probably save you about a thousand dollars a year in all actuality so if you can get by with it definitely purchase an older vehicle that might just need liability versus the complete full coverage package other discounts that we offer I know we have carriers such as travelers encompass progressive a few other companies that offer good student discounts if they are in an A B honor roll that usually gets them anywhere between a five to a 15% discount depending on the carrier and then the last thing I'll mention is once they do go off to college a lot of companies out there will offer usually around a 10% discount once their freshmen or sophomores and they don't have their vehicle with them on campus I know some colleges out there don't allow students to have their vehicles on campus until they you know a sophomore or junior so that also qualifies them for additional discounts through your insurance companies so I hope this helps please feel free to reach out to me with any other questions that you have I just know that this is a topic we get and talk about every single week and just here to try to help minimize the pain for everybody so feel free to give us a call with any questions comment below and hope to see you guys we'll talk to you next week Thanks bye
