Add person image

what is going on friends today I'm going to be sharing with you how to add people into your images here in Photoshop so let's get into it what's going on guys my name is Brendan from outbound media and you can find me on instagram at Byrne wheels before I get started I just wanted to let anyone who's new here know that I make new Photoshop tutorials every single Wednesday so if that's something you'd be into make sure to hit that subscribe button so today I'm going to be sharing with you how to add a person into your images here in Photoshop so what we're going to do in this tutorial is we're going to add a person right onto the end of this dock so if you want to follow along I have included a download link for the photos using this tutorial down in the description below so if you want to follow along feel free to download those and do so now I'm not going to include how I cut out the woman for this photo in this tutorial just because I've covered that topic in a separate tutorial called the three best ways to cut anything out in Photoshop but I'll link down below but basically what I did was use my pen tool cut around her body and then around her legs and things like that and then to cut out her hair I just used selected masks then I use my refine edge brush and then just took out the bits around the hair to keep all that blowing hair in my image then I pretty much described my move tool brought her into this image and now here we are scaled her down and now here we are so the first thing that you do is you probably want to rename your layer so I'm just going to name this to a woman so now no matter what happens I will be totally sure of what's going on next I'm just going to rename my layer 0 which is the dock and umbrella and all that to just be G's for background now it's up to you but for this I'm not really digging this umbrella I kind of want to just totally get rid of it to keep the image more like simple and plain so what you can do for that is if you grab your marquee tool and I'm just going to click and drag around pretty much just the sky here and something like that and now I'm just going to press command J to duplicate that and now I'm just going to go across V and I'm just going to click and drag up this to cover up the umbrella and press enter and now you've pretty much extended your sky and you literally cannot tell so you did this instead of like clone stamp tool because the clone stamp tool since there's the variations of grey in the sky it might have looked a little bit patchy and since there's no detail on the sky this sort of technique works really well so next is looking at my woman of course the things that we need to do is we need to make the colors match and I may need to make this shadow sort of on the dock because right now it's just really bright so it's like no one's there so the first thing that I'm going to do is I'm just gonna grab my brightness and contrast layer adjustment here make the clipping mask to my woman and I'm just going to brighten her up a little bit just so to match the scene so maybe sound like this you don't want to go too crazy in this case because it is sort of a gloomy day next I'm going to use my color balance which I use quite often when I'm first sort of bringing in an image into another image so usually just sticking my mid-tones so looking at my background layer there's a lot of greens and yellows while looking at my woman layer there's a lot of blue and sort of purple and our skin things like that so now we have an idea of like what we need to change so what we're going to do is we going to make a clipping mask so our color balance is now clipped to our woman and I'm just going to increase the yellow a little bit maybe do something like here and I'm also going to increase my cyan yeah so I'm also going to increase the green just to just a little bit so now you can see just turning that on and off the amount of a difference that made next thing that I always look for is skin color so looking at this her skin color is quite like purple almost so in this case I might be able to get away with just desaturating your skin a little bit like this because since it is gloomy day no-one's skin is going to be super vibrant looking so with my vibrance layer adjustment I brought down my vibrance and now I can just press command I to invert my layer mask press B and pretty much all I'm going to do I'm just going to paint on that DC vibrance onto her legs with a white color of course just like this since eclipta her it won't the one affect anything elsewhere so that looks pretty good to me now already our woman is looking like she is blending in to our photo she looks sort of gloomy and sad just like the rest of our image so the next thing that I would do is grab our curves layer adjustment so I'm going to clip my curves my woman layer again and I'm just going to maybe play around with the contrast so I'm going to bring up the highlights a little bit maybe bring down the shadows just to just to sort of play around there's no wrong or right again but just something to try out see see what you like or don't like so I'm kind of digging that definitely makes her pop a little bit more so the next thing is we have to make the this dock a little bit darker to sort of simulate that a person is actually standing there so in this case since the light is super flat there's not going to be any shadows and things like that so that means we're not going to have a huge long shadow it's probably just going to be sort of just sort of like a bit of a reflection because the dock is all wet and then it's just a bit of darkening around your feet and things like that but in this case I'm just going to use the burn tool just to sort of cast a little bit of a shadow and then that way of total control over the darkness and then also the shape of it since it's on the dock it's not going to be a perfect outline it's just sort of going to be a black blotch sort of deal to burn out my dock in a non-destructive way I'm just going to press command shift N and I'm going to just rename this to DB for dodging burn and I'm going to change my mode down to overlay and I'm going to click fill the overlay neutral color 50% gray so now all that did is created a new layer that is filled with 50% gray and since our layer mode is set to overlay it is totally invisible but now we can put our dodge and burn tool onto this 50% gray layer and in a totally non-destructive way to any other layer so I'm just going to make sure that I have my burn tool selected and range set to mid-tones and I'm going to leave my exposure at about 8% because if I wanted to go any darker I can just go over it over the area a couple more times so I'm just sort of getting a nice big brush and just painting over in the area that I want to make a little bit darker so just doing that a little bit I was literally just like one line down behind her and it already sort of gives the effect the illusion that there's a bit of a shadow behind her so I might just fill it it on the side a little bit more and that's sort of just fit awesome so now we have a shadow that matches our person so that almost completes blending a person into our image here but the one thing that I'm not really liking is she's a little bit too blue and like it just doesn't feel right with the color of the dock so I'm just going to make her a little bit more warm and I'm just going to do that by adding a photo filter in my woman group here and I'm just going to clip it to my to the rest of my layers and I'm just going to go down to deep yellow and I'm just going to play around at the density so usually we'll go down to like zero and then just work my way up until I find something that looks really nice so just about like 15 percent there fifteen sixteen percent that looks a lot better to me so as you can see it's just that little bit of a color shift will make that much of a difference so those are sort of the steps that I would go through to blend in a person into my image what I'm going to do next to sort of make her pop a little bit more as since she's on a separate layer I'm going to create a layer right below her and I'm just just with a sort of a white color and to accent her a little bit I'm going to put like I guess a little bit of a light behind her so it's my brush tool and you're going to click and like that and now we can go to soft light and maybe adjust it adjust that color so it's sort of spread out across the horizon a little bit so it's not so obvious and I'm just going to press okay and then I'm just going to change the fill to blend in a little more so again I usually go to zero percent and then work my way up accordingly so now just by doing that that little bit it sort of draws our eye into into our subject because she's standing in a really bright part of the frame so I'm just gonna rename that to her eyes glow next thing that I might want to do is just sort of darken the edges a little bit so I'm just going to go above everything else create a new layer get my gradient tool change it to a nd gradient make sure how the linear gradient selected and I'm just going to drag out into my center here just like that and do the same on the other side and then again I'll change this to soft light and I played the fill to sort of match a little better just like that great the reason I did that is it darkens the edges so it again will draw more attention to the center of our image because the center of our image is much brighter than the rest as you see it gets goes really dark and then goes really bright so it's just sort of changing up the composition of the whole image a little bit more if this tutorial helped you I would love if you hit that like button and maybe even consider subscribing I make new Photoshop tutorials every single Wednesday if you want to see more of my work make sure to check me out on instagram at bernal's or you can check out my website at LPL media net again my name is Renan from meltdown media and I hope to see you back here next Wednesday for another new Photoshop
