Countersignature proxy card
and guys in this video I'm going to show you exactly how I made this proxy using an inkjet printer before we begin we're going to need a few materials acetone Krylon spray-down varnish folk art glass and tile medium golden clear digital ground double sided tape paintbrushes a small mixing bowl and gloss varnish all the materials are listed in the description below once you have all that ready let's get started start with a basic foil magic card take the acetone and rub the ink off the surface take care not to get acetone on the back of the card or you'll risk damaging it once you're done your card should look like this next grab your folk art glass and tile medium be sure to stir it up to make sure it's well mixed add a small drop to your bowl now grab your golden digital ground this one we can shake add roughly the same amount to the bowl take your wide area brush and mix it up thoroughly now begin applying to the card once this is done let it dry and I'll see you in the next step now is the time to print out our carrier sheet go to your computer and hide the artwork so that just the border is showing and printed out by now our card should be dry as you can see it is very opaque but don't worry this is what we want we'll bring back the shininess in a later step take your card and tape it to the carrier sheet I like to use as little tape as possible so that I can get it off more easily also be sure to tape the corners so that it doesn't get stuck in your printer when you're finished place the carrier sheet in the printer now go to your computer unhide all the artwork and hide the border go ahead and print the card as soon as the card is printed we want to put it in a warm dry place so all that ink can dry before it bleeds I use a small space heater but your oven could work too ink will take longer to dry than you might imagine 10 minutes might be enough if you live in a dry area or thirty if you live in a humid area once your card is dry it's time to apply a coat of matte finish it's best to use two thin coats instead of one thick one now the card is almost finished we just need to add the foil effect to do this we'll apply a thin coat of gloss varnish over the areas we want to shine I recommend diluting the gloss with water the key to making this effect look great he's using multiple thin applications dip your brush in the gloss and begin application if you make a mistake it's very easy to correct to correct a shiny area simply paint over it with some folk art glass and tile medium and that's it I chose to make the background part of my card foil but you can get creative with your cards and do them any way you like one final note I'd like to encourage you to experiment with different materials but if you're just starting out I don't know of any substitute for the golden clear digital ground or the folk art glass I'll medium and have tried many different products if you try this process without either of those your print probably will not work also this is only for inkjets it will not work for laser jets if you want more information on making non foil proxies or altar dark magic cards please check out my blog in the description below
