if you new to this channel know that mondays would give you a marketing tip so you can grow your sales on Wednesdays we give you a management tip for your restaurant so you can grow your team and also again on Fridays like a day like today we answer your questions if you have questions comment below we'll cover them in a future episode and today I'm answering Ashanti's question Ashanti asked how do you guys handle gift cards our POS system has an add-on of $28 a month and then you buy the card separately as the monthly fee worth it and that's what she's asking so first I wanted to tell you that it is pretty common to have your POS system charge you an add-on of up to $50 for the gift card module so it's not like your POS system is robbing you it is it is a fair price however I wanted to tell you that it is very important to view change review is this an investment or it's an expense if you view it as an expense it's not worth it if you view it as an investment you can make it worth it so it's up to you how you utilize this investment are you able to pay $28 per month plus the cards that you need to purchase and make triple that money or fourth time and that money that investment view it as an investment so how are you gonna make that investment work I wanted to tell you for instance let's do some easy math if you are able to sell 10 gift cards a day 10 gift cards a day you can have a contest with your servers you can treat them to something you know try that for a week and see what happens but for instance 10 $25 gift cards a day results two hundred and fifty dollars two hundred fifty dollars a day in gift cards will result in seven thousand and five hundred dollars a month and one of the things you need to know it is well-established statistics you can look and that a lot of gift cards they don't get redeemed actually I personally have gift cards I've received that I'm not redeemed you know what I mean it's a well-known fact so up to seven thousand five hundred dollars a month that you're getting that upfront money know that many of them may not get even redeemed and you can keep that money so that is well known so think about that how can you give an incentive are you able to give a free cookie to your customers if they order a $25 gift card right how can you incentivize your customers to get that gift card right you need to make a non no-brainer so that's a way that you can shoot forward and figure out every every single day to your customers your servers need to say that hey so-and-so wanted to let you know that this week we have a special on our gift cards that if you order a gift for $25 gift card today you will receive a free dessert is that something you're interested it something like would you like to try that and you know you can use that $25 gift card on a future next week when you all come out you know so you have nothing to lose you know you can tell that to the customer sorry folks I had to run out just because you know the food order came in and staff arrived and so I had to get out I wanted to simply tell you Shanthi that this is a very good queue for strategy to have gift cards one of the things you can do is call your POS system and tell them hey I'm thinking about activating the module for only the three months of the the queue for October and November in December with the contingency that the gift cards will still be accepted the POS can redeem them we won't be selling more once you deactivate them but ask to make sure that you can the customers can still redeem that gift card even if that module is disabled and I think that's a great idea for you to think about you know I don't want to pay for it all year long but that could be a great q4 strategy and by that I mean you need to set out you know sit down with your managers you need to figure out how can you guys maximize your investment come up with a game plan how can we push it coming with scripts things of that nature so you can sell those gift cards thank you so much for watching this video if it was helpful to give it a thumbs up so I know if you have questions that you would like us to cover on this channel be sure to leave your comment down below or you can always send us a direct email to making dough show at gmail.com subscribe to this channel so we can stay in touch and I hope you have a fantastic day thank you so much for watching [Music]
