Overall airSlate SignNow was a great tool for what we needed! Our students were able to fill out the document within their availability and we were able to receive them in a timely manner! We will continue to use airSlate SignNow for these types of issues in the future!

As a user of airSlate SignNow, it has helped our department immensely! We've had to make changes and have students sign-off on the changes made to their program of study outlines. This required us to create a document that all students would need to sign electronically but unfortunately all our students were on campus during different dates and times. This posed a problem to us but with airSlate SignNow we had our solution! We emailed the document to the students with an eSignature required field and was able to get all the documents back!

Its just very convenient for a lot of documentation, but also serves as a organization tool. The features are very flexible and I feel safe using it.

Love the smoothness of its use and high quality interface. Lots of very convenient features and it does so much more that only serve as a signing app. The click and drag its very friendly and it really saves time when you have to do this types of files.

[Music] [Laughter] [Music] welcome to life a fan it's Thursday at 3 o'clock this is your favorite technology show broadcast from Epiphanes head office here in Ottawa head talking head Cameron this is episode 136 and today we were going to talk about some fun stuff actually legitimate it's not just about candy and costumes we are actually going to talk about how to bring in telephone guests you guys have seen some of the shows we've done talking about bringing in Skype guests but what about old-school telephone stuff so we're going to talk about that show how we're gonna do it and we are gonna call a mysterious person later yeah we'll talk about the rundown no this was a little bit tricky because I decided to use an iPhone for the for the actual phone call this week and I'm obviously with iPhones they pose a little bit of a challenge when it comes to finding the right kind of adapters yeah you've got 6 adapters just to get a simple headphone jack but of course you do see this a lot on the news obviously you can't always do a video call with someone if you're calling someone out in the field maybe you're just engaging with someone that doesn't have enough bandwidth to do a video feed and you have to call them so of course say hi in chat if you're watching I'm gonna be fair I'm only watching YouTube chat right now but people should hopefully fill me and if there's anything on the other platforms but so say hi in chat I see Kim in chat I don't know if that's hi or death to pumpkins or whatever that is I'd happy Halloween everyone let's get right into the news yeah we've got some I'm a floating vampire you're loving this that's like my scary voice I'm a mug shot my like I should have put some black nose on I know but that was been weird yeah like a dog nose like a like a black dog like a pox on your face so I can just disappear entirely not quite still see your hair so we have some spooky news this week now usually we stay away from this kind of news because it's kind of unsettling but not everything in the world of live-streaming is fun and exciting no and election coverage sometimes horrible things happen during live streams that's true Lake recently when a climber on Mount Fuji live-streamed his own death it's real actually then the authorities were notified by people watching the stream and they were actually able to find where he was unfortunately too late unfortunately too late but thanks in part to the live stream so if you were doing something dangerous if you live stream but everything happens though yeah someone's gonna really live stream it on our pan which I'm also doing right now from my phone down there now tell us a little bit about our pan for the folks that's this week after week our pan is the reddit all access network it's red it's live streaming attempt and they've been experimenting with it it's Halloween so of course you know they had to make sure they set up a test today for you know people to play around with it on Halloween now we have nine viewers probably more than her on Facebook yeah right now our next scary news story yeah there was a man arrested for live-streaming his mother's that would rule that was also real why not surprised that it wasn't Florida men yeah seriously that sounds like a Florida man livestreams and when the authorities went to his Facebook page which was public they were able to find three other streams that yeah if you're doing things illegal don't livestream it anyway that's probably not a good idea all right now our last scary story is that a woman streamed her own brain surgery that one kept while she was awake and it was absolutely real really absolutely they cut the top off and pulled it off tinker around in there so it was actually very unsettling she's very happily and while she was out of it but she's talking to the doctor is telling because they need to they need to keep you they need to keep you alive during brain so Jo wake it's so they have to keep you awake so that they know that your your brain is still working Yeah right so they ask you cognitive questions so you're live streaming to your family so that they know as well oh my god one of these tabs here just click on the my wife surgery tab there she is look at the back to see PC Jim yeah anyway so those are just for fun today wanted to give some shadows to people in chat again Daniel right saying good afternoon Marta down Palo Alto giving us a kitty cat hello Deezy Deezy as divers saying hello Marta says could Cameron be enjoying this anymore no manzil saying hello from Wales and welcome everyone there we go so what's gonna be a skeleton body I should lay out and then the tape just would not stick to this Morphy sue know exactly but if you want to see some photos of me in this Morphy suit check out my patreon page and if you don't realize you got to pay to not see it and you have to pay to see it so either way I'm making some money off of this arrival for for those of you just tuning in or folks that have tuned out and then tune back in we are going to be talking about how to connect a phone guest to your live show so yeah and we went through some different configuration settings at least they're able just to throw the title up on the bottom on the bottom there also we're gonna date now we're just gonna get right into the breakdown now I did learn a few things about this kind of setup so I was getting ready for it it was actually a lot more challenging than I thought it was gonna be pretty easy plug the phone into your audio board as you plug the phone in now it would have been easy with a regular kind of phone maybe so using an Android phone maybe I didn't actually test it on an Android phone I was working with one of the other guys this week who recently lost his phone right so we didn't but it was a little bit more challenging than I thought and I did learn about not only what TRS stands for but what trrs stands for and why that makes money on dongles yeah TRS tip ring sleeve so if you can imagine a headphone port like that one yeah exactly the eighth inch stereo one you plug it into your oxide car and the bottom your phone so the very top is the tip yeah and then the ring underneath is the ring and that's absolutely yeah exactly and that could be your audio it could be your left and right yeah that's kind of both on there and there's a ground yeah and that's your standard one yeah now the TR our asses which is the one that Apple uses has that tip the ring audio video and then a grip yeah now I've probably got that in the wrong order I'll get some comments on there later but basically it's gonna limit you from just plugging in any old device and just using your eyes like a wireless lav for example so some people might have run into this before when you're plugging in and I run through this on airplanes a lot pushin older planes or if you plug in your headphones from your smart phone that have a microphone on them there's an extra connector in there and sometimes it means you have to kind of half plug it into normal headphone behind that sweet spot while you exactly and obviously the jacks on planes are always broken anyways so that makes it even more annoying but it's kind of the same thing you can't always just interchange those because sometimes the contacts don't always line up depending on what you're plugging in so that's right being aware of that is helpful for sure as you found out but then we found some gear that did work yeah so after some troubleshooting so my initial assumption was that I could use a Wye splitter right and you know it's like a headphone sorry a headset for gaming right to be able plug into your computer you can break out the headset and a microphone yeah if you're using a different kind of setup so that was my assumption that it would work totally didn't work at all didn't work with the Apple adapter didn't work at plugging directly in those very frustrating it could have been a defective one because I did see some comments on there that some of them were defective but for the most part they just didn't work it wasn't reliable so I did a little bit more research and I found that the iRig 2 wasn't yeah it was a good solution for that the company and I can't think of it but you have the Box just over there if you want to grab it I do yeah so the iRig 2 the idea of that is for folks that are bringing in like a guitar signal or yeah another kind of instrument they be able to bring it into their phone and then use like GarageBand or record it or use their iPhone to direct the sound to a speaker like for you know doing busking and stuff yeah so this this one is from Ike a multimedia it's designed for musicians the iRig 2 this was 50 bucks Canadian or probably about 10 bucks in real American dollars but yeah it's designed for that and it says here for iOS or Android devices you can connect a guitar and amplify our headphones there's gain control on it so yeah this seems like honestly it pretty it was a little tool it was a good solution and it was actually the lowest cost solution that I could find there's other ones from rode so excuse me rode makes one that's kind of intends to turn your phone into like a wireless lab so you can have interviews on it and then it would also work for the phone set them but that one was actually much more expensive and just as I expected the road to be more there's other amplifiers and once they were close to Lake I mean one that I saw was a hundred and forty bucks yeah this guy was super inexpensive and it was available just down too long and McQuade which is right down the street yeah those of you don't know long and equates a music store yeah all right so less needless to stay your local music store probably has some version of this exactly and there are some different versions of that same model as well there's the iRig 2 pro would you offer some different functionality it comes with some free apps too so if you are actually looking at it from a musical perspective you have a it's like a EQ on there you can play around with it and then for the iPhone quarter-inch in and pass through out 8th to your phone and then also an 8 headphone monitor I guess and so yeah there's actually quite a bit on what is a relatively small device so as will go if you at least if you can jump us under the iPhone ring iPhone rig pardon me so the way that we have a configure no now you can actually see my so the way that we have it rigged up is using those two quarter Jack quarter-inch jacks on there and not the headphone jack okay so we're sending out that line out which is going to the mixer now on this diagram so if you want to pause and get a closer look take screen shot yeah exactly take a screenshot we're gonna break down kind of step by step how it goes so the iPhone is connected using the Apple TRS adapter so that plugs into the Lightning port and then breaks it down into the TRS that'll actually play nice with the iRig 2 right it should have been able to plug this in directly but for one it doesn't fit with my case so I'd have to take my case off to use it and I wasn't actually able to get that to work and when new iPhones don't have headphone jacks and the new iPhones don't it is available using USB C and also on the Thunderbolt so different versions of them yeah exact times different verses of that exact cable and I'll show you we'll have a link on the show notes and as well I'll show the actual page and a couple of minutes here right now so we start with the iPhone so I plug that in using the lightning 2 TRS adapter now that line out from the iPhone is actually going to a little preamp that we have so it's a headphone amp now that allows us to not only bring in that audio into our mixer and actually adjust that level accordingly but we can also hear it so as you can probably notice yeah we can actually power earbuds that both Cameron and I have so that we can hear our phone caller without it being just speaker and being picked up on our mic totally so we can isolate our monitor of it by using that headphone and we've used a splitter before and the issue with the splitter is that it's only as powerful as how many things you plug into right and when you're talking about quarter-inch unbalanced basic audio there's not a lot of power there now and when you split it and you run long cables as we do around the studio that split electrically weakens exactly and you end up at the earbuds hearing next to nothing well we have a I think it's about an 18 foot cable that comes from the control deck all the way over here to the desk and then we have another Y splitter at the desk exactly we just put it so many times it was getting messy and the last time we did that I in my set of earbuds I could not hear the Skype guest at all barely so it's very low yeah so that solves that problem because it does add power to the equation and that way everything is controllable and we have line yeah and it has an additional level of gain control as well to play with something so now out of that headphone amp we have that so audio coming to us like we mentioned and then that's also going into the mixer so we bring that into the mixer just on its own channel just as we have our audio coming from our wireless labs yeah and now we've mixed all that into the mixer so Matt our sound technician has balanced everything based off of a couple of foreign test calls that we did and obviously when you do a call with someone you want to call them in advance or if you do it live then you have a technician standing by who could do that on the fly so we have all of that going into the mixer now the next challenge is the fact that we don't actually want that person to hear themselves right as they would if we just put them if we just gave them the audio from the Pearl or if we gave them the audio mixer so what we've done is using the aux ports on the actual mixer so if you're Xing a mixer for this you will have to have an ox out on it and then B aside from the bay know exactly aside from the main out because that man out is going to the pearl and then as we've done in the past we've actually given that audio back to gasps yes it's not a great experience for them because they hear themselves it doubles up and it's really hard to talk when you hear yourself talking it is so we're using the aux ports we're feeding that back out into the iRig so and that's the instrument it worked we have the import on there which is the little guitar but it can be anything that's quarters so we're serving that back out from the mixer and then into the iRig so as far as the phone is concerned it's just a headset and it's exactly it's just audio and audio in and audio out now we do have another little bit of setup on here that's not on this diagram because it's not really for everybody but we are serving up this audio from the mixer into a Raspberry Pi and that Raspberry Pi is actually making a waveform which will visually show the other person talking because we're putting them up on a static image right so we're having some fun aside from just the audio we decided to have some visual fun as well well we were hiding here in what is clearly a very haunted house with storms outside so yeah so that's very interesting if anyone has any questions of course throw them in to chat yeah of course we will include links for all the products that we mentioned but Lisa if you can just jump us onto the laptop channel real quick I'll just show you guys the couple of pages where we have these so this is the iRig 2 yeah this one I just pulled up the link for bnh yeah B&H obviously is a really great website you can find everything on B&H when you're looking to purchase those yeah Farrell shameless plug on the show that we use them I don't think you can find but you can find things to make money with true so this is the iRig 2 right now the list price is 10 bucks I think America and right now it's $10 off and you can see in this category it's a number one seller so you know it looks like it has pretty good reviews as well so now the audio splitter Matt Chu on our support team he sourced this one for me so this is a Behringer four channel audio splitter so it's all quarter-inch inputs and outputs on this but we just used quarter inch to a inch adapters where where we needed to exactly but again we have the individual gain control on those exactly that gives us that flexibility it's quite small it's not large so it's very easy you know untrue civ just kind of sits there and then yeah I mean Canadian dollars is less than 40 bucks I mean you can't go wrong with that no no that's a great deal and I think it'll really add to add to our capabilities on the show when we're doing Skype calls we're doing these kinds of calls it just it'll allow us a little bit more a little bit more flexibility we're playing around on there absolutely now the last one is this lightning 23.5 headphone adapter jack yeah so you wouldn't need to use this if you have a newer iPhone that doesn't actually have a headphone jack on it and if you have an older one you'll need this just to give you the right signal out of the phone right we're about to lose our pan stream so by our pants OSR our time and our time's running out there's 20 min limit on our pan but now you can see it ticking down here so by our pan I don't know idea of people you could have been chopped there I don't know now today is Halloween so it is who better to call on Halloween then a psychic so I've just put out the call I enrolled on this Lake this psychic hotline thing you have to like tell them to call you oh I can hear coming in okay hello you've reached the psychic hotline my name is Nostradamus Isis for 1,000 years experience if you count past live nine months of experience if you count my current life but today on All Hallows Eve the day of soul I will be your guide into the spirit world I will attempt to contact and receive a device from the spirits of your dearly departed is there anything in particular you wanted to know well I just I need to tell you right now you are on speakerphone of sorts and live on the Internet yeah you're live on the internet so I hope that's okay with you you probably knew that I knew that I'm sensing viewers all right so I'm we are live on the Internet I just want you to know that so it's not a surprise I hope it's not a violation of the the TOC others and dreaming feet I'm here with my host as well we could pay you anything well we already paid the $10 for 10 minutes so gotta make the best of it I'm actually really nervous and I'm a little bit hesitant but I want to go first okay you can go all the way cuz I don't want to know I want to hear about my past life nostra anima animus nostris Nostradamus Nostradamus Nostradamus can you tell me what I was in my past life ah yes a past life mmm now the spirits will find it easier if you're open to what they have to say I'll open your heart yes I'm getting something something in the past oh yes it's getting clearer now I can see it you were a great man yes a great man oh no wait you were you were next to the great man you're washing his feet you were a servant of the great man still not a bad job you know not the highest-paying but you know some benefit [Music] dreams of washing someone's feet I knew it I knew it meant something there you go yeah where did I where did I live was I like was it in Europe was it in Canada that people wash people's feet in Canada now I'm seeing a great house a terrific huge house and next to that house a small Shack and you're in that [Laughter] [Music] so maybe we'll we'll throw it into the chat if the chat has any questions they might want to ask the psychic about Cameron headless Cameron's life but I see I see there's quite a few people in chat so throw something in there we'll ask the psychic but I'm curious you know sounds like your past life to now you know might be a bit of a I don't know if it's an upgrade or a downgrade well I'm still sitting next to a dog all right what are the winning lottery tickets for this week the winning lottery number is five five five five five so it was the last one like five hundred there may have been one or two extra fives in there that's not coming to through clearly for me it's just a lot of fives let's fill it out with all fives I'm sure no one's ever tried that before can you do that incrementally higher numbers you don't gamble no I don't I'm not a gambling faithfulness is wondering how much is he charging for a minute this was a $10 call right four dollar is a dollar and a Murphy dreaming an extra streaming royalty fee any other does anyone else have any other questions for our psychic well we have them on the line I think we've only got a couple of minutes left yeah do otay was saying in chat he doesn't sound much like the picture I mean because we did I'm not gonna judge a book by its cover you know I'm not gonna assume anybody's anything but I agree that seems kind of weird yes what do you say that oh sorry Marta has a question Marta what is your question psychic which George is really number one and which is the other George oh we don't need a psychic for them hmm very interesting question let's see one George always tells the truth and the other always tells a lie I'm not sure where that's going one is which and keep in mind your job Danny grows is saying all fake numbers start with five five five just watch the premiere episode of Rockford Files yeah exactly exactly that's that's pretty busy the other question so I think we'll let her so I could go thank you very much something something very deep voiced lady but yes that was maybe not a legit psychic but absolutely a legit phone call and then through Cameron's iPhone we didn't fake the phone call part or any of this at all Cameron's definitely headless and that was definitely a psychic but hopefully you guys could hear that nice and clear I could in my monitor yeah actually tell us give us your feedback on that because we did we did do some testing on it through the mixer which gives us our relative sound and usually actually hugely if we do have any audio issues we do get comments on that on the chat so I think one of the advantages we had here is sometimes when we've done Skype calls a because the loops we have there's a certain amount of latency sometimes and does the hosts and our guests we sometimes trip over each other one of the big advantages of course of phone calls is they generally have no latency unless it's a really really long distance old school under a cable kind of call but you don't really run into that anymore so it's it's you know for me I thought that was great to have a much zero delay no stumbling no delay kind of situation I heard it very loud on my monitor compared to when we've done it on skype calls so hopefully everyone else could hear that let us know if that was a correct level for you and and whether or not you know that worked but it sounded great no I think it sounded really good and like you said we did have the advantage of zero latency on there Danny had a good question about you're able to patch a call in from an IP Phone so really using this rig and kind of using a mixer and figuring what you have you would be able to patch it in I should preface that by saying not digitally over the network you're doing it's still the same way we did it here with analog audio adapters to headphone jacks on that IP Phone set IP Phone I was actually imagining like one of our desktop yeah and but and they have headphone jacks and you do that it was like so weird headset jack it's like a 1/16 it is yeah depends on the phone that you have and he was just saying I would think about something super low-tech like gaff tape a mic to the speaker yeah that works too but I would probably do it this way this is honestly low-tech even though there is some investment in physical Hardware involved it is pretty low-tech so I personally would recommend this over taking a microphone to a speaker well partially because of the two-way yeah but um I was doing a little bit of research on this one I was looking up different CBC cuz they're kind of like kind of a gold standard in my opinion for bringing in yes and how to do stuff and on marketplace they were interviewing the guy just on like a speakerphone like we have in a conference room when they literally just had a shotgun mic pointed right at it I'm not a big fan of it and then the producer was sitting or the interview we was sitting right in front of it in the boardroom but yeah anyway that was like super low-tech so maybe though that is super low tech I think it's worth the $30 investment to make it work this way yeah personally especially considering that so many people are using their cell phone smartphone anyways this is probably a better solution to do that just drive divert was saying another low-tech option would be set up a Skype call yeah now you can do a Skype call on an iPhone so basically works the same thing running it over HDMI to pearl and we have done that multiple times in the show we have done shows talking about that so you can go back and look at those on how we had that set up and with this rig I would actually be able to plug that iRig into the laptop itself because that TRS does match versus the iPhone one and then we would just feed out that signal using the same thing so it would work the same way and really doesn't have to be like a MacBook Pro like we use it could be another TRS connector yeah exactly cool but no that was uh that was fun I like this I think I should be a floating head every week yeah take a screenshot you cannot stick anything to it this is basically I'm gonna take it to like the kids we had this plan for taped on skeleton and everything but then all of Cameron's bones fell out and it just didn't have any other questions about this rig feel free to throw it in to chat or send us a message be sure to LIKE subscribe follow do all the socially clicky things on all the buttons are all the places on all the platforms and yeah I mean this was kind of fun it was interesting it's Halloween it's pretty light hearted so enjoy stealing your kids candy later and eating it all and happy Halloween stay safe of course and if you're anywhere in the Northeast stay dry and we will see you next week well check the news to make sure that Halloween hasn't been cancelled that's true just some Canadian towns that are trying to postpone it until tomorrow night because they're afraid of a little bit of rain cuz I'd rather the kids have now like George mentioned please follow us subscribe hit the bell you get notifications and we appreciate you tuning in every week next week we're gonna be taking a look at our new setup in the studio so our new setup I should say I'm gonna be asking for your suggestions on how to set up the new studio yeah so we're gonna show off our live studio 3.0 it's basically just a blank canvas right now it is super cool looking for your feedback so yeah think about it now if you're watching have your suggestions ready and of course feel free to reach out to us on Facebook and send us a message if you have the ideas and we can have that ready for the show exactly put in the comments that sort of thing Danny did have one question broader question any call ins during the lives strike live Street not just pre-planned interviews I guess you're asking if we're planning on doing essentially a call-in show it's a little bit more challenging with this particular rig because you do need to screen those calls and then have them go through a router so that would be a fun one for the future where we can actually have a producer who's not on the show screen and they listen to the show exactly it's crossed our mind thought it'd be interesting but I think the interesting thing with live streaming is that your chat is basically your phone in so anyway thanks everyone thanks faithful mess dcs diver marta danny grizzled vanessa was in there and everyone else Michael had a question about pearl to send us an email info depth affair calm about that and we can get in touch with you on on what we have planned dan is saying I'm thinking about doing Collins well we should think about calling Danny show risky yeah call Rico psychic exactly all right well thanks again for tuning in you
