if you're young and a free time during the summer then working at a summer camp in germany is a great way for you to gain exposure to the german language all of the information i'm going to give you is based on my experience working in germany in the summers of 2019 and 2020. in the summer of 2019 i spent six weeks working at a kids english camp in friedrichshaff in germany and i worked at the same camp for another six weeks in the summer of 2020 in berlin both of these locations are on the shore of lake constance or bodensee in german which is right down at the very southern end of germany and the lake actually borders switzerland and austria and you can see the swiss alps from the lecture first of all if you have the opportunity to work in southern germany during the summer it is absolutely beautiful especially down around lake constance the weather is almost comparable to somewhere like southern france or somewhere in spain with the weather being in the high 20s or low 30s and for someone who comes from the uk this is absolute bliss also given that we were right in lake constance if the day was good which it normally was we would spend the majority of the day at one of the various stratbats located near us and these are so good they're essentially private areas of land right on the shore of the lake and you pay a few euros and you get access to it they're always really really well maintained they also volleyball courts table tennis tables and sometimes they'll even have a basketball court sometimes it would even be a combined strandbat and frypad which is essentially an outdoor pool and they'd have that at the location too and they'll also serve food and normally have changing facilities and toilets at the location tower and some of them also have paddle boarding and windsurfing rentals as well it's just a really amazing day out pretty much in every good day when it was warm we'd go there and we'd relax we'd play games we'd swim the lake and we had paddleboard it was really really chill and it was such good fun so with regards to the actual job you'll normally get free accommodation on three meals a day provided by the company you're working for and the pay is normally okay given that you're practically spending no money the entire time you're working there the only thing is is that it's pretty much a 24-hour job it's your job to teach the kids and entertain the kids pretty much all day every day if something goes wrong and one of the kids for example gets home sick in the middle of the night which actually happens very often then it's your job to deal with it normally the company will provide you with afternoons and evenings off that you'll...
