hi this is John today I will be terminating the fiber Fox mechanical connectors as you can see on the packaging the connector comes in two parts simply the connector and the boot the first step is to put the boot on second step is to get the proper markings on the fiber cable and to do that we simply add 22 the total length of the amount to be stripped so in this case it's 20 + 20 + 10 millimeters is equal to 50 millimeters so that's the first mark the second mark is going to be 15 millimeters plus the the last number here which is 10 so that would be 15 millimeters + 10 millimeters is equal to 25 millimeters so these are the two markings on the fiber cable and we simply just take out a marker and measure it up so I'm gonna mark 25 and I'm going tomorrow 50 next step is to go to the second notch and our try hole stripper and in small chunks just strip away the insulation okay once again working on the first mark and now I'm going to strip off the accra by coating on the smallest hole of the trial stripper next we're going to strip off the insulation to the 50 millimeter mark just like that next step we clean it with the fiber cleaning fluid get a nice squeak and we said in our cleaver lately marked as to where to place the fiber for the cleave take your strap put it in the bin the next step is to remove the jig on the back of the connector that's opposite the window just take it and put it to the side now we want to insert the fiber my eyes left me oh my god okay so now we simply want to insert the fiber into the connector creating some positive insertion force with the band once you have the band okay you'll hear a click when you press down on this window and you now have a properly terminated mechanical connector next step is to simply bring up the boot and and we're done we can go ahead and test it with a VFL and while you will see the connection in the window here we can look at the end of the fiber and see the light passing through so this is good so one thing we can do to check at the side of the termination if it's good or not is to shine a VFL and you can see right here on a bare connector with no fiber attached the light is very bright but if we go ahead and put the VFL onto a connector that is terminated properly you can see that while there is a light it's very dim as compared to the other connector and this is a great way to be able to make sure that the connector is terminated properly if it wasn't good or if you needed to Reese we terminate the connector we can simply take the jig and assemble it back onto the connector push down and then we should be able to take out the fiber intact these connectors can be returned ated approximately three times and you'll be good to go thank you very much for watching this video
