hey it's LeAnn here with go big with LeAnn and today we're going to talk about letter of gratitude or how to write a letter of gratitude or it may be more appropriate for you to think about how to write a thank-you letter but thank you and all essence just means gratitude so of course Wikipedia the Internet is just amazing tool but I thought we could just go over this together just to cover some of the key points because I think a lot of us take for granted that we maybe should know how to do this but there's a whole generation of folks that maybe never wrote a thank-you letter because it wasn't they didn't grow up doing that and you know I definitely grew up gratitude letters and and thank-you letters are very important so you know just get some nice stationery and or some nice thank-you cards whatever works for you if you're going to do pen and paper and I think people really do appreciate handwritten notes but if you're like me my handwriting a lot of people probably can't really read so I'm much more comfortable using things on the internet but you got to go with what you're comfortable with so either just some nice paper nice card you can buy thank-you cards and gratitude cards anywhere dollar store very inexpensive or you can make your own my kids are always used to getting homemade birthday cards and homemade gratitude letters and things like that so make a fun buy some fun stationery something that you enjoy doing um or you know do it on the computer whichever way you want to do it works great address the person how you would normally address them um you know don't make it too formal if you usually call your neighbor by their first name don't say mister such-and-such just use their first name and then just start writing and convey your intent from the very beginning of what that meant to you how that was a blessing in your life and just start your letter of gratitude from the very beginning so they know what your intention is and and speak you know use your own words speak from the heart if you struggle from you know picking out words I did and recommend a book the other day words to the rescue and that just kind of gives you a starting point I know a lot of this kind of struggle with what's the right thing to stay say you can always google it to if you don't want to go buy a book but then put it into your own put your own personality and to speak and put in writing what you would say out loud you know so if you normally have I have very kind of loose slang language so if I'm too formal and my gratitude letter people are going to like that doesn't sound anything like ly and so be yourself all right and let them know you know like I said how it impacted their life and if if it's a service if it's a business letter of gratitude you might want to explain to them you know how to use the things and different there are different things like that just be informative and acknowledge the person's effort and because that's a big that's like basically step four the level of gratitude realizing that that person had to take an extra effort to whatever they did for you whether is a gift or an act of kindness or service and so really think about how that impacted your life and and maybe the extra steps that they had to take and to make that happen so recognize that that you you understand that this just wasn't maybe easy for them to do it's good for people to understand that we're all in this together and that we do make a difference in each other's lives and you can just go to week Wikipedia com write a thank-you letter and in a and and go over these directions in more detail but I thought we'd cover them together today and convey your feelings about the event again just be really personal talk to them like your eyeball to eyeball and of course if you can do it eyeball to eyeball thank you or grad expression or gratitude that's always amazing to you know and you if but if you're writing a note finish the note by saying hey let's get together sometime if that is you know if they live in the same town and things like that and then just sign your name how you would normally like to be called and you know choose a closing that matches the occasion because if it's business obviously you want to keep it kind of business related if it's a friend you know sign like you normally would on an email or something keep it keep it to the situation that you're at so if it's a business letter keep it business if it's a personal letter of gratitude and keep it personal so just kind of keep the flow all the way throughout but here are some basic steps that you can use to write your gratitude or thank you letter whichever way you prefer to call a I think gratitude is a little bit stronger meaning for me even though they kind of mean the same thing gratitude for me just seems to take it to a different level so hopefully this was helpful and maybe today I challenge you to take the time to you know write out a letter of gratitude to someone that has impacted your life let them know the difference that they made in your life and and they will be so happy to open up their mailbox a few
