when quoting a video job should I just give them one price that includes everything like an inclusive or should I line itemize everything that's so they know exactly what they're paying for let's talk about that I'm chase Turnbow and I help people build successful video production companies and this question came in from Kurt's films he says this when you give them a quote do you break down the services or just give a total I do kind of a combination of both I usually give them a price for pre-production line item filming line item and post-production editing line item so within those in my contract I go into greater detail of what they get because there's a lot of variables within that but I don't want to get crazy on telling them how much it cost for every single little thing because you don't want to get into a spot where they're trying to negotiate every little thing you don't want them to go oh I see that you you put in two HD cameras and that cost $200 well what if we can can we get the same quality with some reduced cameras or you don't want to get into that back and forth so you do want them to understand what they are paying for so showing that hey you're we're editing four videos for you and that's our basic package editing it's not very complicated it costs this much for editing and we're gonna do a full day of filming so that's up to eight hours and a - a two-man operation they're two cameras that cost this much and there's there's no pre-production let's pretend because you already gave me the script and you know exactly what you want us to do so we're just gonna take care of it and there's hardly any pre-production so no cost there so you can just have two line items basically that have the details in there but you have just the filming price and the editing price equals however much hope that helps you out I'm chase Turnbow keep those questions coming and subscribe if you haven't already to learn more about building a successful video production company
