hey there geeks tim with majorgeeks.com today we're going to show you how to enable or disable wake on lan in windows 10 as you probably know that allows your network card to wake up your computer from sleep or from shut down whether it's over the network or remotely so obviously you're here you know what it is and you want to enable or disable it now we're assuming that it's turned down in your bios that's worth mentioning right out of the gate if not you probably have to look up your motherboard try and access your bios and then find the settings for power on by pcie or wol wake on lan has to be enabled in your bios frankly that's practically a video unto itself because every bios is a little bit different but you can find it if you need to so let's press the windows key plus x and go to device manager right here all right so we're going to do is we're going to scroll down to network adapters you can see that right here we're going to expand that and then you want to find your card so here's what i'm currently using i'm going to double click it to open this up and then we're going to go over to the advanced tab give you a second if you're playing along at home and we're going to scroll down we're looking for wake on magic packet kind of weird way to say it but weekend magic packet and there it is right here under value by default you can see i'm enabled so you can click disabled or enabled and once you make your choice click ok you can now close device manager and you're all set however if for some reason you cannot open a device manager or you want to try another route we can use the control panel let's do windows key plus s just start typing control panel not a big fan it's kind of more buried here but just so you know how to do it i'll be brief we're going to go to network and sharing center here then we're going to go to change adapter settings and then we're going to find our card once again as you can see i'm right here it hurts when i p we're going to right click and we're going to click on properties yeah we're going to find our card again right here with configure yeah we're still going now we're going over to advanced and this should look familiar to you now wake on magic packet right there kind of a pain but there it is alrighty there you have it not too tough to do bottom right hand corner click subscribe click like we helped you out thanks for watching as always see ya
