What active users are saying — anneal byline template
Anneal sign template
okay we're gonna do a video about annealing your cases and what a Mealing is it's the process of heating the brass case to make it soft because what happens to brass is the more you resize it work it or shape it cut any work hardens it and your brass can split crack or get brittle on you a lot of people argue with you they have annealing cases is unnecessary and a lot of people just use a simple thing to hooking up a drill press with a socket chucked up in there and spinning the brass with a torch until you just see their bluish color and drop it in the bucket of water there's nothing wrong with that method that's the way a lot of people do it you'll see a lot of videos you could go or you buy little rotary machines for five thousand dollars and hook torches up and do it right or whatever but after some investigation I found two things one brass is not like steel you don't have to quench it in water you just have to heat it to the 750 degrees let it air cool and it's soft so what I did is I found and there on YouTube Emil right now is a system say you set up the needle brats and the reason I like it is I do have a slight disability and I can't hold the torch and the drill motor up long my hand my hand just doesn't have my arm doesn't have the strength to do it for a prolonged period of time and if I have to kneel a lot of brass this system I found it's simple it's easy it gives me control and it works it works nice for me it comes on so basically the cost of the main kit and when you get in it is you get one I think you get one block and the case is going through the school and a block basically you set it up with two torches sitting on both sides and rotate it and down it goes so you get a block the stand two stands for your propane torches and I got the extra rack I got a rack put the cases in and I got the template fluid and a couple of extra watts for different calibers which they just unbolt and bolt back the whole kit all together with all the extras I had some extra it's costing about a hundred dollars what you will have to buy and is you have to use the little short fat propane tanks you get them I think there's six of them in a pack at Lowe's I want these and you'll have to get your own torch porch this for the top so you need two torches and a pack of propane and then go into the racks like this they're made for this stout bottle not the narrower ones but this here and that's how basically set your torch up okay so I'm gonna set this up and like I said we do is you heat it and flip it over onto a rag so I'm gonna get it set up but the first thing you do is I'm gonna take some of this template how do you pronounce it when you take a little bit of this some people tell you they don't mean it once they time it or whatever but for me it helps you just put a little bit of this it's like a paint put it on the inside of the brass you put it on the inside and when it gets to 700 some degrees it'll change color and you know you've reached your heat point and I flip it over so I'm gonna go and paint my cartridges first and then get this set up and we'll get started all right this way I set all the cartridges up and I just go in with this stuff and put a little dot on there so I color it so I can see when I apply the heat the temperature change and that's where the rack kind of comes in handy and that's why I got it so we go and this is the first step process so you gotta let this stuff kind of dry for a while I'm gonna do this get this stuff set aside let it dry and we'll get your set up and roll in here all right we'll take a look at the setup for I get going here basically you want to set it up through this swings and the torches are gonna put the heat and we want the whole this basically all of this to be annealed so we're not just looking for the neck we're looking for the thing so you want to Center it up kind of eyeball it sort of heat heats this whole thing up now these blocks don't necessarily have to this is like the 50 caliber machine gun block and this will use 59 50 100 it's a little long for 50 70 where what I do is stuff cleaning patches in and then that's how I adjust the height to where this will go in there and give me the correct height stick this out for it to be heated and these aluminum blocks are pretty good because I've checked it and the heat doesn't go past them so it protects the brass it only heats the area you exposed and put the flame to basically you get both torches going heat both sides when the colored you can see down in here when that changes color you just flip it down and drop it down here and this is where you put your cloth or your tall to touch your brass down into there and that's all you need then just let it air cool and you're all set okay pretty simple device and we'll get it started here get it going I'll show you how I use it and I like it all right we got that fired up the torch is going and you just rotate it down in where it heats up the changes and I just flip it out and he just feeling the successful one after the other and it's pretty simple and let's call it and you know the case is up nice and you just drop down into the clock so that's pretty pretty much a basic step in a basic way of dealing with this and once you get good at it you can be quite a few these quite quickly the nice thing about okay next about it with the Emil right
