We finally got our in house legal team to allow us to use airSlate SignNow as an official form of signature instead of printing out paper, signing, and rescanning due to the legal protections it provided. highly recommend for anyone person or business that needs to sign papers and is currently printing and signing them now.

I loved that i didn't have to print out and sign legal documents, contracts, and invoices. additionally, the signing feature in adobe acrobat isn't as intuitive as airSlate SignNow.

Ascend initial template

[Music] okay so now that you have a sense of where the program came from let's let's take a look at it and I'm just going to close down here and pop into the dashboard for the program itself so because I am in administrator mode what you see here is the dashboard with each of those seven modules you'll notice it starts with the getting started module there is a benchmark assessment modules one through seven and then the final assessment down at the bottom now a client would actually only see the module that they're accessing is being available to them when they first register in the program they will receive a link to takes them directly to the getting started module and I'll discuss registration right before we get into the Q&A so I'm going to pop in to the getting started module here okay so this module really sets the stage for how to use the program there's a bit of an introduction to the program you'll see down here each of the individual topics that make up the module so this is really for participants to come in to get started it covers how to use the program how to navigate how to use some of the features I'm gonna jump ahead and again I can do this because I'm in the administrator mode where as a participant we need to sequentially complete each of the module each of the topics was in a module I'm gonna jump ahead to the benchmark assessment so at the very beginning of the program this 20 question assessment identifies how familiar people are coming into the program with soft skills important soft skills in the Canadian workplace and there's 20 questions as I mentioned these are representative of the content that's presented of course so you can see just the way the layout it allows for a lot of whitespace it looks really good on a screen it also looks really good on a phone and one of the nice things about this and the learning management system that we're using is an Adobe product so somebody you could start the the the program on their computer at home on a desktop on a laptop they could log out and as long as they have their unique access link they could then pick up for example on a tablet on a mobile device on a phone exactly where they left off so where I want to spend a bit more time here is in module one now you'll notice that each of the modules follows a similar layout so on the left hand menu over here participants can track their progress and they can see each of the topics that make up the entire module now there's a character that we have included in the program and he's he appears in a number of different ways so I want to share this short video clip here which welcomes participants to module 1 when they're getting started congratulations on completing the benchmark assessment now let's start module 1 which will help you identify your existing skills and experience and how they can benefit your work in Canada congratulations on completing the benchmark assessment ok so just a really quick example of one of the videos features there's that type of audio and video within each of the online modules now this initial topic module overview and objectives provides an overview of what the participants are going to be able to do by the end of the module what they're gonna leave the module with it also highlights the key soft skill competencies that are covered within this module I'm gonna pop in to topic 2 which focuses on identifying strengths and again these are largely made up of content coming from employers key strengths in this case that they're looking for across industries when they're hiring when they're gonna bring on new hires now the program itself is very interactive so even here examples of analytical skills we can flip over there's a number of similar cards like this where text is used to present key concepts and then we have opportunities to make things a bit more interactive through so how to you know we've included that in each of the topics so here when we're going through each of the different types of strengths and skills participants leave this module with a bit of an understanding of that we want to really reinforce what they're learning and one of the best ways to do that is to make things fun to include games so there are a number of e-learning games that are included in the program in this particular example our same character Naseer is giving examples and the instructions are up at the top here I'm going to pop into the full-screen mode he's giving examples of past work he's done and the program participants are then going to take those examples and I'm going to pop them into the relevant strengths category that they've gone through so he's given quarterly presentations which is an opportunity example of communication he's done some evaluations determination so he's done a bit of analysis and so on so you can see here how these work again they work equally well on a phone if it's a just a touch screen as they do here on a larger computer screen depending on how you're accessing the program so in order to get participants to then think about how this directly relates to them we have included journaling exercises throughout and I'm gonna leave this one I just want to show you the screen but essentially we'll and we'll have a chance of it later on so look at one of the other modules but these are fillable PDFs in the pilots themselves there were journaling activities but here we've taken them we've embedded them directly into the online program as available PDFs that participants can save and it allows them to really take the information they're learning online and make it practical and relevant to them now you saw the benchmark assessment each module also includes a short quiz the quizzes are structured so that they allow the participants to see when they get something wrong to be directed back to where they could find that information within the module and when they get something correct there's positive reinforcement on why they're getting it correct through and so these quizzes there's six questions for each of the modules now each of the modules also includes additional resources if participants want to follow up all of these are web links so they can be easily accessed from any internet-connected device and all of the modules include a social learning activity so these are an opportunity for participants if they so choose to connect with other peers other in their cohort and just respond to a few questions just to get a bit of a discussion boat going online this occurs within the learning management system itself it is specific to that cohort so only the participants in that particular service providing organizations group with be able to connect and it's entirely voluntary okay so I'm gonna move ahead now to module two which as I mentioned focuses on personal branding okay so one of the things that is included as well in each of the modules because some of the terms that people may be coming across might be unfamiliar is a program glossary so we've got the the Welcome audio-visual cartoon there we've got the learning objectives and they're going to pop down to this glossary so this is at the beginning of every single module and Nerissa who is one of the team that has been working on us and diligently created this glossary for us so different terms for example community of support is a term that phrase that may not be familiar to everybody and it's an entire module in this program so we've provided a definition of what that is again this is accessible from every single module which is great the topics here again focusing on personal branding there's a journaling exercise there's an entire topic around I'm actually just going to pop in here to the introduction to personal branding so you can see some of some of the content here how people present themselves on line as well there's these flip cards that can be accessed you know different ways that you can represent yourself and different ways of demonstrating your own personal bread now I want to pop into the game here just to show this one again it's pretty cool in this year in this question sorry in this game is gonna be meeting up with he's texting his mentor so a few questions around his own personal brand so he's introducing himself he's got his phone over here he's trying to improve the brand asking if he should open an account on every social network we're looking for a job now and the mentor is suggesting you know just to let people know you're a real person LinkedIn possibly Facebook are are good are good choices so these games continue throughout the program I also want to highlight another feature that is found in each of the the modules and those are interviews this was something that we included largely just over the phone in the pilot sessions but for the official what is now this official launch of the program we actually recorded video interviews with a number of employers with HR professionals and with skilled immigrants so there's at least one of these videos in every single module in this case the video is what video Varma who works at traction on demand which is a Salesforce consultancy and I'll just give you a taste of what these these videos look like and play in the first couple of minutes with menu here my name is Madea Varma I work for attraction on-demand and what we are as a software consulting company based at open bar to be I was born in Winnipeg grew up in Victoria and been in that of Vancouver for the past five years [Music] I think a level of authenticity is super important and that really differentiates you from everyone else a lot of candidates come in telling you what they think you want to hear and that is just so run-of-the-mill so for me and what I'm always look out for for people that are really authentic and kind of bring in their true self when they're answering those behavioral questions I will know talking about the situation the task the action they took and the result and it's pretty easy to see what inauthentic questions are they're just kind of feeding me what they read online so authenticity is a real big one for me I think it's also be having that ability to show some thought leadership write some original thought regardless of your industry obviously LinkedIn is a is a big driver here in Canada I use it all the time I'm on it four or five six times a day for my own personal use and work-related and I think it's important to have a point of view whether it's from a technical perspective or maybe on for the softer side too I think is important to have that and I'm not saying you have to have on your own personal video blog in a regular basis but I think having regular curated content is a big deal well the flip side of that too is well your instafamous and having those pictures that may not you may not want to have affiliated with here with your employee brand right we're especially when you're looking for work well that's definitely something that I also look forward to like okay do they have an interesting personal life do they know where to draw the line and that's always a great reader for me especially when we're a values-based culture driven company attraction I'm looking for people that are only authentic but that like to have fun but also know where's that line between fun and poor tastes [Music] okay so just a couple a couple minutes there of the interview with menu and you can see that the questions are presented on the screen on title cards I mentioned that each of the each of the interviews or sorry each of the modules has an interview they range from about seven minutes to about fourteen minutes and we have included a PDF transcript for every piece of audio and video that appears throughout the program so that any participant that was interested could follow along afterwards reading the reading what was said these are all hosted on YouTube which is great because YouTube provides access direct access to closed captioning as well so that's really helpful for people okay so this gives you a bit of an overview of the module on personal branding I'm going to pop in to community of support and developing your professional community of support I'm going to hit details here which brings me down to the module structure and one of the questions that people haven't asked is what who can be included in in a community of support and I mentioned the work that Nerissa had done on the glossary I also want to give a shout out to Belinda who was also on our ascend team she created this great informational graphic each of these different representatives of a community of support are just touched on in brief here and and below that we have more fulsome descriptions of who can be included some of the examples that can be included in that in a community of support so again here the text is supplementing the ideas and ideas are reinforced through the interactive graphics now the program also includes a number of templates for best practice so in this example here we're looking at strategies for building your network building up that community of support and we talked a bit about what that means what you can be looking for and then we get into some specific questions and ways to freeze things so I'm going to scroll down here this is an example of a template for an informational interview for setting that up with someone and then there's additional tips for for networking and again just to keep things interesting we've got different drag-and-drop menus that can open and close throughout the program okay so this gives you a bit of a taste of the content the topic that appears in the community of support we have an interview in this module with Mavis Covino now Mavis she not only participated in ie CBC's mentor connect program as I made tea and was then hired in networks as an HR advisor at destination Canada she was also a member of our ascend project reference group and I really wanted to have her insight into community of support to be able to share that with participants because she emigrated from the Philippines and she has her own story to tell about immigrating to Canada and what that looked like for her so module 3 focuses on community support and then it's module 4 as I mentioned when we started off with an overview of the modules that we look at the job search and the interview soft skills in this module we take a look at what to include in a resume in Canada we have a game built up around that which gives participants an opportunity to highlight and to play with some of the content that they've experienced because obviously if you've if you've lived that you've worked with people from other countries some of the information that is included in resumes it's not always expected or even relevant in in the Canadian employment setting so this is again a drag-and-drop game that participants can play on their phone or internet connected device I'm going to pop into the journaling exercise here and I mentioned that each of the modules has at least one journaling exercise I'm going to just pop out of the full screen here so that you can see what this looks like so each of the journaling exercises are savable fillable pdfs and in this example we've introduced the idea of an achievement based resume we present the example of what could be said or what a better way to potentially phrase that a more fulsome way to phrase that when you're focusing on that problem action and result could be and so we can type in here you know what the job was and that what the challenge that was encountered in that job how I dealt with it and what outcomes I took and in that way we're helping the participants to form their own resume in their own way of responding to these questions that makes it very relevant to and personal to them so just an example of one of the journaling exercises featured in the program I talked a bit about best practices here and I'm gonna pop in to actually before I get to best practices I want to share one other oh yeah no sorry that's right I'm looking at the best practices so we get into the job application process and we start talking about the different types of interview cell phone screening interviews versus potentially panel or one-on-one interviews examples for things like even answering the phone or leaving voicemails we've included we've got the template here so I'll just share this audio clip quickly with us hello you're speaking of Simon hi Simon my name is Jessica from AR marketing we received your application for the role of digital marketing strategist and I'm calling to ask you a few questions we should take about 10 to 15 minutes is this a good time hi Jessica yes I sometime right now how are you doing I'm doing well thanks how are you I'm great horrible so I have you questions firstly okay so an example there of the best practices for answering the phone there's best practices for when you're busy for leaving voicemails asking people to repeat themselves all this all this type of very common situation that we find find ourselves in throughout the employment search now I want to share another type of video and user situational videos that are included throughout the program and these follow the story again of Nazir and his experience I cease navigating what it means to look for a job and secure a job and then ultimately you go through the onboarding process in in Canada I'm just going to pop back into the full-screen mode okay [Music] now it says here on your resume that you worked in this tech sector for several years can you tell me more about that indeed I utilized my project management skills along with my team and the clients from her reaction I'm sensing that my answer wasn't satisfactory I'm going to ask for clarification yes it was a great time of my career and I'm happy to expand on it is there any particular aspect about the protec manager role you want me to get into it yes actually I'd like to know more about what your day-to-day workload was like and what aspects of the product development you were involved in can you tell me more about that there we go now I can answer the question in a way she wants okay great and I was very happy with the the cast that was used for these videos because especially news year he has a lot of passion and his responses in every scene he's in so that's great now I'm going to continue dragging down here you're all be familiar with the star technique so here again is an interactive graphic that describes what the technique is we get into a bit more detail on how to actually use that and then we have a game which demonstrates how to use the technique so participants are provided with an example of in this case when they use logic to solve a problem and they can drag-and-drop the responses now when incorrect responses are placed or the order is incorrect and you submit it's going to tell you and in some cases it's going to give you precise feedback when you're pretty close so for this particular game there's two two different questions but just an example of another example of one of the games and how they really bring together the the content that's presented throughout throughout the program now modules in addition to the journaling activities and with an extended learning activity so in this case it's an opportunity for participants to think about nonverbal interview behaviors and application of the star method so in this particular activity I'm gonna jump down to the second page participants can think about how they would answer these questions again these are all fillable PDF so practice interview questions okay tell me about yourself what's the hardest decision you've ever made what didn't you like about previous job so an opportunity to think about these questions and then to go back and record themselves just with their phone or was the webcam and see how they were doing in these nonverbal areas when they were responding to those questions just to sort of building up an awareness so that's what these extended learning activities are really are really focusing on an opportunity for participants to be able to work in these areas within the program and online okay so this gives us an idea of module for building your job search and interview soft skills module five looks at professional communication professional in communication obviously different different workplaces are going to all have different personalities they're all going to have different ways of responding to people the communication game in this case presents different styles of communication up here on this envelope and different ways of responding so in this case if we're dealing with someone with the directive style should we be expecting them to open up about their weekend plans I don't think so should we take their bluntness personally you know again probably not the best thing and we should expect them to be pretty blunt so another drag and drop game translates really well into a phone and and provides an opportunity for participants to practice and think a bit more on the content that they have reviewed up to that point so this module has topics on professional communication learning how people react to you an interview on communication related questions with lis Brighton who has a fantastic supporter of our programs and also a member of the project reference group so I'm gonna keep going with the demo we'll pop in to module 6 module 6 focus is on onboarding and organizational culture so at this part of the program within the situational videos Naseer the character that plays Visio has he's found a job he's working on things like brainstorming like responding to situations in the workplace we present within this module different organizational cultures and what those can look like and there's a number of activities that are related to to those particular to these particular organizational cultures and module 6 focuses again both on onboarding it has a particular onboarding game as well as organizational culture now I'm going to move ahead the last thing I want to share in module 7 some of the topics that we cover here around handling and giving feedback around taking responsibility workplace conflict problem solving career growth management negotiating raises and promotions and actually negotiating initial salary which is covered in the previous were topics that participants themselves based on feedback from the pilot programs were particularly interested in I just want to share here before we finish up the the online demonstration the final review game so this this is a game and it's based on questions from the previous quizzes and game modules and it's essentially a summary that participants can and work through only rolled a one but the game pops up and is easier jumps to where you've rolled and there we go we can we can we can respond to the different the different questions based on what pops up and eventually we make our way through to the end of the the end of the board so in this case you know at this point I hope you have a good sense of what the the layout what the presentation of the online program looks like [Music]
