month from now Mike kho will be sworn in as Missouri's next Governor kho served under current Governor Mike Parson and both share sever several similar policies and some of those are being perfected as we speak Missouri Capital reporter Hannah Falcon sat down with the governor elect kho to ask about his priorities since the people of Missouri chose Mike kho to be their next Governor he's been working a way to prepare to take office what is your biggest goal when you are first sworn in and ENT office um we've actually said when our hand comes off the Bible which we intend to do is go directly to our official office and talk through what that crime plan plan looks like K tells me some lawmakers have already filed bills that align with the public safety plan that will be his number one priority upon entering office such as Central Missouri Republican state senator Travis fitzwater's Omnibus Public Safety Bill he plans to work closely with not only the Missouri legis on Public Safety but also the Attorney General's office on prosecution it's one thing to get criminals off the street it's another thing to make sure they get prosecuted the mayors of Missouri's four biggest cities St Louis Kansas City Springfield and Colombia sent kho a letter asking for his help on Public Safety asking him to support a state ban on miners possessing guns and a new reporting system for school safety issues handguns are a different matter and when a when a juvenile has a handgun nothing good comes from K tells me that he's met with them to discuss their requests but his final plan may not include all the pieces they want I understand certain pieces of their letter certainly that's part of our crime plan is to make sure we have all of our communities across the state safer uh including our urban areas so we're going to work very much with them to try to get their communities to a place where people want to live and raise a family and businesses want to survive and grow how can Missouri improve violent crime especially in those big metropolitan areas well resources are a big thing uh especially in Kansas City and St Louis K has said since the day he got elected he'd like to put the St Louis Police Department under State Control similar to Kansas City's Police Department St Louis mayor Tashara Jones says State control does not work I want it easier to be a police officer easier to be a cop than a criminal the other thing kho wants to focus on when he enters office is economic development that may include tax cuts and getting rid of regulations for some Industries reporting in Jefferson City I'm Hannah Falcon First Alert 4
