hi and welcome back to homeless history now in this video I'm going to teach you how to use the documents to advance the argument of your thesis in a document based question so let's get to it now if there's one place that a lot of people falter in the document based question it's how they use the documents and what I'm about to show you comes from a larger course that I call the APS a cram course it's a course that goes through every point of the document based question the long essay question and the short answer question there's addresses AP World AP us and AP or it's for anyone who's struggling to score well on these essays and it's one of the people who every year goes to score those essays on a national level I know exactly what they're looking for and I will walk you through all of it to help you score well also if that sounds like something that'd be helpful for you the link is down below I've reduced the price since we're so close to AP exams I want as many people as possible to sign up for but if you don't need that I hope this video helps you good luck ok now we get to the meat of the rubric namely handling the documents so in this video we're gonna see how you use the documents to earn either one point for accurately describing the documents or two points for using the documents to advance your argument and in part two we're gonna see how you can earn an additional point by correctly sourcing the documents alright here are some basics to get us all on the same page every document based question has exactly seven documents no more no less if your teacher gives you a DBQ in class that has more or less than seven documents that's fine for practice but just so you know when you get to the actual national exam there will be exactly seven documents on the exam and so everything I say in this video refers to a DBQ with seven documents now when it comes to using these documents in your essay you can either earn one point or two points you can earn one point by successfully describing the contents of the document as it relates to the prompt so for example here's the document from the 2017 AP World History exam if you were going to describe this document accurately you could say it shows the Buddha and for Bodhisattvas blessing the merchants who bring gifts for the temples while the Buddha and the Bodhisattvas are portrayed as having Chinese features the merchants are portrayed as having central and or West Asian features okay if you say that you have successfully described the contents of that document and according to the rubric if you can do that for at least three of the seven documents you get...
