my name is Malcolm Brown I coach soccer primarily in our area here lower West Chester New Rochelle Larchmont Harrison mamani I also coach a girls soccer team in New Rochelle there's a school team called Ursuline I coach varsity soccer there I try to be involved in the game quite a bit as a not just as a coach but try to be a student of the game trying to learn everyday all right I've been fortunate to work at many different places I do a number of different camps clinics for towns Pelham New Rochelle Mamaroneck and for me working with kids is always a great opportunity that said I want to kind of give you a sense of what we're gonna do today we are gonna play it's gonna be a plane part probably the last hour and a half to two hours I think if I make you play for the full ninety or the full three and a half hours you're gonna be not be able to go to the library you're gonna be a little bit sore okay I think the main the most important thing for me for you guys to get out of here is one is understanding who we are coaching on a soccer field so getting a sense of what we would call the long-term development of a child I think this is just priceless I think without understanding who you're coaching it makes it not I think difficult for you or even 10 times more difficult for the child all right so that's one thing I want you understand something what they call agent skill appropriate being on the field every day I've been fortunate to just stand and watch a lot of training sessions and many times what the adult is doing with the kid there's no way agent skill appropriate and I do understand at the grassroots level many of the coaches don't have the experience so that poses a challenge and I do know that there are many ex players but I think there's a big difference between an ex player and being a a coach you understand kids I'm gonna do when I do the training session I'm gonna show you pretty much about five different things we want to capture I want to show you just basic warm-up different ways to just warm up the child or warm up players I want to show you hey this is some of the ways how you train a player how we teach them in their development I want to share with many of us what we call tactics in soccer and tactics where it starts at a young age what needs to happen are gonna touch on how to coach your game give you some pointers and I want you keep in mind there's no one way to do anything so I'm going to show you some things I've learned over the years coaching and going to different places and some top class coaches I've learned from and at the end of the day I want to show you after you coach the game how you prepare for the next practice so we got a whole lot to do today
